Demon Lord: Erotic Adventure in Another World-Chapter 797: The Beast Awakens
Asmodeus leaned on his palm, watching Alice setting up her little folding table, placing her documents and various little books side-by-side almost obsessively. The raunchy raven-haired duchess now carried a more scholarly atmosphere as she peeked at him from time to time while setting up.
"Your Majesty, is something interesting?" She asked with a flat voice.
"Well, I can only say that watching my beautiful chancellor wife is extremely interesting. If it’s like this, then maybe I could watch her for eternity."
Alice didn’t respond, but her cheeks to the tips of her ears turned red as she tied her long, silky hair up into a socialite ponytail while adjusting her slightly steamed glasses.
"Okay, I am here to report on important matters, Your Majesty. Please forget such jokes at the door and save them for our bedroom."
"Our bedroom?"
"Ahem! Your bedroom..."
He didn’t continue, instead shifting into a proper seated position, and motioned for her to start explaining.
"Go on, Chancellor."
She swallowed as her eyes remained fixed on his exposed muscles, before suddenly slapping her own cheek as she opened her first parchment.
"Y-Yes! Your Majesty, regarding the water and what might be causing it."
The content of her first report largely confirmed his hypothesis. That an abyssal or monster with a negative-based energy existed in the ocean, and it wasn’t some attack launched by the empire.
’If anything, the Empire will also be in danger about now.’
Alice adjusted her glasses with her index finger before taking out another familiar book, the one about the monster resting in the deeps.
"Have you discovered something related to the tale?"
He didn’t know much about this world if it wasn’t Lumeria or Grigor. Asmodeus barely made an effort to learn; he would much rather spend his time watching his wife explain things with glowing eyes.
"Yes, to be accurate, thanks to the reports of Captain Brando, the slaves who joined the army along with him and several of the people we rescued from Hansberg have all attested to a strange monster appearing off the coast of the northern reaches of the Empire."
"Oh, then... did someone awaken the monster?"
"Ahem, wait a moment, there’s some information from a fisherman from the eastern parts of Grigor who gave reports of strange occurrences while out at sea."
She fiddled through the documents before finally letting out a sigh. "According to the fishermen, Adolf and Grundel. Two months ago, they were fishing in the northern bay of Grigor, protected by the small underwater mountain ranges."
"Underwater mountain ranges?"
"Ah, it’s a small spherical pool where the underground mountains form a natural barrier keeping larger fish, predators and monsters out, allowing smaller creatures to give birth, lay their eggs and people to fish without danger."
"I see."
"The fishermen noticed dozens of sharks all fleeing the northern waters, flowing south to where the waters become cold and lack the same level of prey."
"What’s wrong with the water becoming cold?" Asmodeus didn’t understand; he thought the water was always cold at certain depths.
"Because the temperature drops significantly, due to the frozen icecaps in the southern reaches of the ocean, where the last blue dragons are said to be entombed. A slight drop wouldn’t affect the sharks normally, but because of the steep drop, their bodies and functions would be limited, putting them at unwanted danger."
"So there are predators in the southern waters able to kill the sharks?"
"Yes, a monster hybrid that particularly hunts orca, shark and whales lingers in the deep, but rarely attacks ships, so human contact is quite rare. It’s a legend in the Beast Empire, as one of their divine guardians."
Asmodeus leaned on his palm, "So the sharks fled something that spooked them more than their natural predator, or it was strong enough to make them prefer this monster that resides in the south..."
"Exactly!" Alice’s glasses sparkled as she shouted with great enthusiasm.
The next moment, she snapped her fingertips and dozens of images and parchments with pictures floated through the air, hovering in front of Asmodeus.
"These are the estimated looks and shape of the southern monster. I’ve referenced dozens of reports, taking eyewitness tales and forming this."
"Wife..."
Asmodeus scanned the images, where a massive, serpentine shape with sharp teeth and scales coiled around itself. The image reminded him of the eastern style of dragon, or rather a massive eel.
"Y-Yes?" Alice hesitated, stuttering slightly as the parchments held up with her powers, drooping slightly along with her lowered brows. "Is there something wrong...?"
"You’re so amazing, these drawings, using your ability in this way... Hmmm, it seems my Chancellor deserves a reward!"
"Ah..." She lowered her face into her books, picking several more sheets, while the tips of her ears burned bright red. "T-thank you, Your Majesty."
"Heh, such a distant wife..."
"B-But we’re working now, I refuse to break this line!"
He’d never thought that giving Alice an official position would awaken her desires so greatly whenever she visited Grigor or the other nations as the Chancellor. It didn’t matter if it was her brother, King Avandar or Alan, she would treat them as the Chancellor of Lumeria.
’Honestly, it’s impressive.’
Her documents floated through the air, as if countless invisible hands helped sort her work into chronological order and its importance.
But the next sheet she showed was huge... a massive A1 piece of paper, laminated with a shape on the surface which sent chills through Asmodeu’s body.
"From Brando and his wife’s testimony, this is the estimated shape, size and look of the monster which lingers in the north."
Asmodeus’s smile faded, his lips pressed tight as he glared at the image.
A massive sphere of flesh, covered in millions of eyes, each one with a different colour, the flicker of fire, lightning, water, ice, earth... meant to display its ability to use all elements of magic, along with tentacles covered in the same eerie eyes... with a mouth at the tip.
Rather than tentacles, they seemed to be tongues... able to independently devour and eat their prey, with countless suction cups of varying sizes along the surface.
At the centre of the sphere was a singular massive eye, with a murky iris and dark sclera... beneath it a maw that spread from one side of the gigantic sphere to the other, filled with what appeared to be millions... if not billions of sharp teeth.
Beside the eye, a small ship was drawn... barely the size of one-fifth of a single tentacle.
"This is the Leviathan mentioned in those books?" He asked while covering his face. "Oh god, Levia is going to kill me." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
To Asmodeus, the name Leviathan was given to quasi-divine beasts like that monster in the south, not this horrific cosmic horror that drained sanity just looking at it.
Alice didn’t interrupt as he whispered to himself, waiting for him to address her as she added multiple documents to supplement her choice for the illustration.
"Alice, what do you think we can do to fight this thing?"
’Valena won’t be able to drag it from the ocean... even I can’t while fully transformed. What the hell can we do?!’
That’s when his eyes trailed past a document, one from a strange, mouldy book, clearly from an age long before now. He read the first like, "The great beast which serves the siren will forever answer to their call."
"Hey, Alice. Is this great beast, the Leviathan?"
He didn’t know if it was a sure bet, so he asked his beautiful, intelligent wife, who stood at her desk with a sudden glowing smile.
Alice lifted her thumbs, "Yes, Your Majesty. This legend seems to have been destroyed and hidden, but thanks to Lady Nerim’s efforts and the items which remained inside the item space of her earrings, we found this."
’Nerim accepted the siren’s bloodline... then she should be able to perform the call, right?’
No...
Suddenly, he covered his face.
"Did giving those earrings to Nerim and facing so many dangers cause the beast to awaken fully? What if it was already reacting to those things after the damn auction house took them and unsealed them?!"
All sorts of thoughts flooded his mind as they joined together, thread by thread, the situation, events and reason for his entire journey into the Empire became clear.
"Damn."
If not for the greedy humans taking treasure from the Siren’s burial chambers, then Brando’s ship wouldn’t have been destroyed. Then Asmodeus wouldn’t have gone to the mainland, met Nerim, Met Mei or Valena... it suddenly felt as if someone was guiding his life, his movements... and it felt disgusting.
"Is this your doing... Creator? Are you trying to use me, my wives and my people to remove obstacles to your powers?"
The Abyssal origins could resist his powers, ignore his domains... was the Creator really a god, or just an existence with great power?
Suddenly, Asmodeus froze, his hand on his chin, locked in thought.
Meanwhile, Alice leaned on her table with both elbows, her eyes narrowed into crescents as she smiled at her husband, lost in thought.
"After all, you’re the most attractive when trying to solve mysteries with your mind, instead of brute force, My Dear Majesty."
She flicked her finger through the air, and a bottle of his favourite wine floated through the air and into her palm. Alice then stepped closer to Asmodeus, who mumbled and constantly mentioned different events and theories, as she sat beside him, and poured herself a glass, watching him while resting both legs on his lap.
"Cheers, to the you that only I know!" She toasted herself with narrowed eyes, slipping off her delicate shoe before lifting her leg and stroking along his thigh with her toes.
This was the reward she sought and the reason she worked so hard.
With the information she gathered, she knew that Asmodeus would analyse and adjust her theories so they could complete them together after leaving this state.
"And then... he’ll ravish me like a beast."
