Demon Tamer's Ascension-Chapter 30: Unforgettable Twist 3
Alex went into her view with the [Abyss Blade]. Cassie was barely fast enough to react, but she managed.
She went in for a knee in the ribs again, and this time, Alex let it happen.
He didn’t resist, twisting with the force instead of against it as his free hand slammed against the ground. Using the momentum, he spun low, his leg sweeping toward her ankles in an attempt to break her balance before she could follow up.
Cassie reacted instantly, lifting off the ground with a light motion that barely looked like effort. She avoided the sweep cleanly, but Alex was already moving again, pushing himself upward without giving her time to reset.
"Yeah, jump," he muttered under his breath, his grip tightening as he reversed the blade in his hand.
Alex stepped again, closing the distance completely before driving the weapon forward in a direct thrust aimed at her center.
Cassie’s body bent in response, unaturally fluid, avoiding the strike by the smallest margin as the blade cut past her side.
The fabric split under the force, but her skin remained untouched, her control over the movement far beyond anything he had expected.
Cassie’s palm pressed against his chest in the same motion, holding there for a brief second as if nothing had happened.
"Piercing light," she whispered.
Then, the energy was released all at once, a concentrated burst that struck him point-blank and sent him flying backwards once more.
Alex’s body crashed through a chair, the wood splintering on the impact as he was thrown across the room.
[Health: 50/100]
His defense was a C-Rank stat fortuitously, so he didn’t meet his end with that one thrust.
Alex dragged his blade against the ground to stop himself, the sharp scraping sound filling the brief silence that followed.
The kitchen in the back stayed quiet, as though Adoff and whichever creature were stuck inside together hadn’t fought.
Alex coughed up some blood, "Use 2 Healing Potions."

Cassie stepped forward slowly, her movements controlled and deliberate, leaving no openings as she watched him recover.
There was no rush in her pace, no wasted motion, only quiet confidence in the way she approached.
"You’re wide again," she said, her gaze fixed on him, "No point in having a Demon by your side."
Alex coughed as he pushed himself back up, a small grin forcing its way onto his face despite the blood he spat to the side. He rolled his shoulder once, tightening his grip on the blade as his posture straightened again.
"I forgot soul-resonance maximizes one’s strength abilities," he replied, his voice steady, almost amused despite the situation, "You’ve fully mastered an Elite’s ability. Just tell me at least, how have you evolved so quickly?"
There was a brief pause between them, the tension settling in the air as his energy began to rise. A darker presence started to form around him, subtle at first, but heavy enough to shift the atmosphere.
"You talk so much for someone on the defensive," Cassie responded, "Why don’t you hit me first?" She declared in a joyful, almost playful tone.
His body tensed as he leaned forward slightly, preparing to move again. This time, there was no hesitation in his stance, only intent.
"Intimidation."

Alex didn’t need it to work properly; he just needed one moment, one stutter, one mismatch, and that’s where he caught it.
She stopped for just a second, and Cassie felt fear for a split-second, maybe even less, but it was just enough, or so Alex believed.
"Quick step." But he wasn’t finished, "

As Alex’s right arm sharpened, a purple and black aura radiating off of it, he zoomed in on instantaneous acceleration towards Cassie.
And that moment of her stuttering was more than enough.
He appeared straight at her, lifting his arm in the air, creating a diagonal line down the middle of her skull, ready to strike through.
Cassie tried adjusting, but it was too late; at that moment, she felt intimidated and stumbled.
Alex’s purple eyes gleamed, and a sneer ran across his face. Even after the bond he had created with Cassie, he was committed to killing her for what she had tried.
Time felt like it slowed down for the two of them just for that brief moment.
Cassie stared upwards, then a smile ran across her face as well, "Pour."
Light illuminated and stabbed Alex’s eyes; he couldn’t see. It was almost like he was stuck inside an empty white room.
He blinked, slightly losing his balance. By the time his strike cut through the air, she was gone.
Swing!
Alex felt a sword’s metal material just barely cut through the slight gap between his neck and shoulder.
Alex knew that just one wrong move, and he would be dead.
He breathed in calmly, and he felt Cassie’s breath from behind.
Her gaze thickened, and she took a position from behind just like an assassin, and clearly, she’s won.
"Now, you die."
Cassie grabbed Alex’s left shoulder, keeping him tightly implanted in the position she wanted him to be in for the final strike.
But Alex wasn’t going to let it happen, "Teleport-,"

"Stop it!"
Swift!
Before he and Cassie could completely finish their actions, someone’s words cut through that tension.
A glow, one purple dark glow, radiated across the room, as if it brought authority.
Alex and Cassie just stopped in their tracks; they couldn’t retaliate.
The paused swing of Cassie’s metal sword made their hair fly around their heads.
They looked at their side, and something other than Adoff came out.
Up until this point, they were neck and neck, but Cassie was miles ahead of Alex in strength and normal speed.
"I said stop it, that’s enough."
’What the fuck is going on around here?’
