Depraved Hero's Path: Enslaved Monster Girl Harem In The Apocalypse!-Chapter 18: Today’s Subject
Chapter 18 - Today's Subject
As Marianne walked away, Elijah went into the Boss Room of the east wing.
'Goblins and a Goblin Chief. Skeletons and a Zombie. Snakes and a... Big crocodile.'
Elijah's suddenly started shining as the Boss Monster growled, opening its mouth wide at the intruder.
From snout to the tip of its tail, the Boss Monster was about eight meters long.
'Wonder if I can ride it!'
Elijah was, unfortunately, quickly disappointed.
Each time he managed to take a seat on the Boss Monster's back, it would spin around, causing him to jump off.
"Oh, well." Elijah cracked his knuckles. "I'll have to beat you up first then."
He bent his knees while the Boss Monster hissed.
With hands on his thighs, he raised his left foot up, and stamped the ground.
"I've never wrestled a croc before."
While Elijah was struggling to perform a good chokehold on the Boss Monster, Katherine was getting to work.
After leaving the sports complex, she had met up with Elijah.
'He said I was talented, but I don't know...' Katherine thought to herself, walking towards the north wing. 'How can I be talented at something I've never done? Something I didn't even know was possible? Something that wasn't possible until...'
How can you be such a failure? Why are you unable to win? I've trained countless gymnasts, including Petra who ended up winning a gold medal! I am the best coach there is! So why... Why is my daughter so untalented? Why are you unable to-
Katherine sighed.
"Talent..." She whispered to herself, holding the Basic Wooden Staff in her right hand tightly. "I just have to prove it to myself. Prove to myself..."
Having gotten close enough to the north wing, they detected her.
Howls echoed throughout the area, each Gray Wolf alerting those around it of the intruder's approach.
"I hate animal cruelty, so I'll try to make this quick."

'Talent... Talent... Talent...' Katherine repeated to herself internally as a Gray Wolf walked closer, growling and salivating. 'If he says so then,' She raised the end of the Basic Wooden Staff above her head, and its flames drew a half circle in the air. 'I just have to trust him.'
The flames and condensed themselves into six separate Fire Balls.
As the Fire Balls' flames flickered, the Gray Wolf's growling stopped.
'I...' Katherine stared at the floating Fire Balls with a perplexed expression. 'I can tell that they will move in whatever direction I want them to. I have complete control over them. There's this link between them and I that I can't quite explain.'
Her gaze slowly moved towards the Gray Wolf, its growling had been replaced by whimpering.
'I might be talented after all.'

"Oh! Someone! Finally!" She shouted, and ran towards Keith.
"What are you doing out? You should stay in the Safe Zones and-"
"I'm just too scared!" The pink-haired young woman wrapped her shaking arms around Keith's. "Please, can you help me get someplace safe?"
"O-Of course. I was going in there to help anyways. They should be fighting the Boss Monster now."
"I see. You're courageous, huh?" She whispered, her gaze lowered. "I just can't seem to do anything right... All I've been doing is run and... I'm scared..."
"Hey! Are you okay?" Keith asked as he knelt next to the fainting young woman, shaking her with his arms.
"Yes, I... I just... Need to go..."
"Where do you need to go?" Keith asked, helping her to her feet.

"The infirmary... Please..."
"Of course. We'll go there, then to the Safe Zones."
"Thank you..." She whispered, sticking close to him, holding his arm with hers.
"Alright." Keith started walking, and she licked her lips.

"Just what is he doing?" Marianne clicked her tongue. "I'm supposed to wait until he enters the auditorium and..."
Minutes later,
"So what are we supposed to do?"
"What do you mean? We should just chill here and wait."
"Wait? What for?"
"The police? The military? Someone, I don't know."
"I'm not sure that's..."
The whispers that filled the auditorium were suddenly interrupted as the doors at the auditorium's back were roughly pushed open wide.
"Students!" Elijah shouted as he entered. "The military is here!"
"No way!"
"For real? Finally!"
"That's right." Elijah nodded. "I am the military!"
"..."
All of the students had turned back to look at him.
They stared with confused and suspicious expressions.
"Sending a whole unit wasn't possible. Additionally, I had to come here without my uniform." He coughed. "In any case, there are some things we need to talk about."
As Elijah walked down the stairs and moved towards the chalkboard, a couple of students noticed Marianne taking hold of a piece of chalk.
'Definitely should have changed before this...' Marianne thought with a frown, still wearing her gymnastics leotard under Elijah's jacket.
As he arrived in front of the chalkboard, he turned around and took his knife out of his Inventory.
"Today's subject..."
With the tip of his knife, Elijah knocked right below the word previously inscribed by Marianne.
"Slavery."
