Chapter 127: 127:Daily Life (2)

Thomas wiped his brow, sweat pouring down his back as the heat from the stove made his white shirt nearly see-through.

With a flick of the wrist, he expertly maneuvered the spatula around the thin crepe. Flipping it onto its other side and letting it brown evenly.

Turning off the heat, he carefully removed it from the heat. Taking the thin sheet out and laying it on top of a prepared plate.

"Amazing...it’s so beautiful."

Next to him, a girl with long flowy black hair drooled slightly. Staring at his body, his shirt hugging his toned and lean muscles. A few strands of his white hair clung to his face, his eyes deeply absorbed into his current actions.

"Thank you! I really struggled at first but to think that my skills have improved enough for you to call it beautiful. I’m truly flattered."

"I wasn’t talking about that."

Wiping his face with a towel, he gave her a blank stare. Unsure of what exactly she was trying to say.

"Is it not the crepes then?"

"Ah nevermind."

She quietly muttered something else under her breath, but he was unable to hear it.

Picking up a knife, he spread a generous amount of chocolate onto the crepe, folding them neatly into quarters and layering them a top each other at an angle. He had been unsure of why this was done at first, until she had told him it was purely for the aesthetics.

Carefully piping a few dollaps of whipped cream, he topped it with a few sliced strawberries and blueberries. Holding it up to the lights above as he inspected it.

"Hmm. Looks good. I think you’ve mastered crepes already, next time. I’ll teach you how to start baking cakes."

"I’m looking forward to it. Quite a few of my friends birthdays are coming up and I believe a cake would be a wonderful gift."

Seeing his thrilled expression, she quietly muttered again.

"Why didn’t I get a cake..."

She looked around the club, seeing several eyes eagerly waiting to pounce on Thomas. Making her release a sigh before asking him.

"What are you going to do with those crepes now?"

"I have no need for it so I’ll give them away to my friends."

Like waving a red flag at a bull, that signal from Thomas alone was enough to send the surroundings into a frenzy as they rushed for a chance to try and take one for themselves.

Watching the sight, she felt her opinion on her own club members dropping in real time. They had received an abnormally high amount of students seeking to join ever since last year, and it didn’t take a genius to figure out why. Even if she was the same.

Just then, the sound of an explosion interrupted everyone.

Looking over, Thomas saw a small pillar of smoke rising. Alongside a blackened patch of mystery sludge stuck to the roof.

Standing in front of the smoking pan, a figure with long dark violet and magenta hair stared at the burnt scraps. A complicated expression on her face.

She picked at the burnt bits, hoping to salvage anything still edible and safe to eat. Only to be disappointed when there was obviously nothing there but charcoal.

Just then, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Jumping back slightly, she raised her hands in self-defense—only to find Thomas standing there holding a crepe in his hand. The scent of it entering her nostrils, tempting her.

It was slightly more misshapen then the rest he had made, but it was the last one he had left.

"Do you want it?"

"..."

She stared at him, trying to gauge whether this was supposed to be a trap or not.

Seeing his innocent face however, she highly doubted it was a so called ’honey trap’. She had been studying human expressions lately, and many of the males that approached her seemed to approach her for the sole reason of seeking a mate. She just wasn’t sure whether Thomas was the same.

Just to be safe, she should decline this.

"I-mmf—!"

When she opened her mouth to reply however, he immediately prooceded to shove it into her mouth. Her eyes widening as she bit down on it.

Ignoring her glare,he cheerfully asked her. "How is it? Is it good?"

"...good."

It was more then just good. In fact, it was probably the best thing she had ever eaten or tasted. It was almost as good as absorbing demonic energy, that was how good it was.

It was just the right amount of sweet, paired with the rich chocolate, and the few bursts of freshness from the strawberries. All wrapped within a thin, soft crepe.

’Ah. It’s gone.’

Audrina licked her lips, her desire for more growing. She still hadn’t yet fully tamed the newly absorbed demonic energy.

She stared regretfully at his empty hands. Noticing her gaze, Thomas told her.

"I can teach you how to make it. That way you can have it whenever!"

A certain club president meanwhile, let out a tsk. Watching the entire interaction. Having to hold back her club members from rushing in and interrupting the moment.

’Should have been me...’

Lucy let out a deep breath, hearing the sounds of things falling over and the sounds of walls being broken down.

This was the third time already, she had hoped the purple Night Blazing Horse—which was named Vesper would have calmed down by now, and it had.

Kind off, it wasn’t hostile towards Lucy anymore. But it did love to complain that its room was too small.

She was already nearly out of points and was unable to renovate it any further. It got to the point she was seriously considering giving it her bedroom and moving in to Cador’s apartment.

Lucy let out a sigh, her fingers moving automatically to scratch under Ashfield’s chin. Causing him to let out a few content pants. His furry tail swinging back and forth wildly.

The moment she saw that purple Night Blazing Horse. She already knew she wanted to contract it for her Art. But there was a problem.

Compared to Ashfield and Sparky, her bond with Vesper was more of a contractual employee-employer relationship. Rather then a companion relationship like with Ashfield and Sparky.

Ssss~

A bright blue snake crawled out of her sleeve, staring at Lucy with its yellow eyes. Sparky’s intentions were clear as day to her, even without the minor empathy that came as a passive to her Art.

"No more rats for you Sparky. You’ve been gaining too much weight recently."

Sssss~

It opened its jaws wide, playfully biting into her arm without actually causing her any injury. Delivering a small shock through her body that woke her up fully.

Arf!

Ashfield let out a yelp, some of the electricity transferring to his body and shocking him as well.

"No using ash inside, and stop charging your electricity right now."

At her stern chastising, both of them backed off. Resuming their activities of doing absolutely nothing and get petted by Lucy.

Sssss~

Huff huff

A bird flew onto her shoulder, a regular mundane sparrow. Without any powers, cheeping as it rubbed against her cheek.

Lucy stared at both of her hands, currently occupied with Ashfield and Sparky. Then at the sparrow which was pleading to also be petted.

"..."

Cheep?

Arthur stared at his classmate, on the outside. He looked as calm and cool as someone like Ellen, but on the inside. He was nearly sweating bullets in terms of nervousness.

"So you want me to tutor you? In exchange for points. This isn’t some sort of new strategy to try and get my number is it?"

"The fact that you are in the list is entirely coincidental. But I really do need someone to tutor me. You’re strong, and smart."

He felt a bit hurt, was his reputation really that bad now? He couldn’t even be trusted when he said he just wanted to improve himself and his grades?

"Why not get one of your friends in the special class to teach you?" she asked.

"I tried. Trying to keep up with their thought processes is impossible."

He really did try to keep up, it was hard. But most importantly, he felt bad. He couldn’t keep up no matter how many extra hours he had put in. The worst part was the looks he received, they weren’t looking down on him whatsoever—they genuinely just didn’t understand why he couldn’t keep up.

Someone like him didn’t deserve to be tutored by them, he was a parasite wasting their precious time.

"Alright then. I’ll teach you. But on one condition, no flirting with me alright?"

"I promise."

"And no trying to hit on Elise either."

"Elise..? Sure, mind telling me why though?"

She looked around, Arthur could immediately tell she was about to tell him something sensitive. People always did that whenever they wanted to tell him something secret. He may have had a bad reputation, but at least he didnt have the reputation of a snitch.

Except for that one small time with Raymond.

"Actually...I’ve got a crush on her. Don’t. Tell. Anyone. You got me?"

"...alright."

"Good. Then, I’ll teach you as I promised. Pick up your sword."

The sounds of two sword being drawn rang throughout the room. Getting into their respective stances, she grinned at him.

"By the way. I forgot to add, don’t take this personally."

"I wo-
