Descent of the Demon Master-Chapter 1330. Exploding (5)
Choi Yeon-Ha glanced at the still-intact beer bottle in her hand and ruefully smacked her lips.
“Aww, it didn’t shatter?”
She thought she had swung the bottle down as hard as she could, though! Since it didn’t shatter, maybe she got subconsciously scared and held herself back in the end.
Then again, no sane person would try to smash a beer bottle on another person’s head until it shattered, anyway!
Choi Yeon-Ha shouted at the interpreter and her frightened face. “Hey, you!”
“Y-yes? Yes?”
“You better translate everything I say properly, okay?”
“Y-yes, I will!”
Choi Yeon-Ha’s expression crumpled as she yelled at the top of her lungs at Wu Chao. “You think this is my first time going through this kind of sh*t?! Listen here, you dipsh*t! I’ve already experienced all sorts of crap back in Korea already! How dare you run your stinking mouth in front of me! Imma just...!”
She angrily threw the bottle against a wall. It shattered with a sharp crack, sending thousands of shrapnel in every direction.
“You, you crazy b*tch?!”
Zhao Xu tried to lunge at Choi Yeon-Ha, but Han Eun-Sol grabbed him by his collar first.
“Let me go, you brat!”
“Listen here, you sh*t.”
“Sh*t?! Who the hell do you think you’re talking to!”
“Shut up, you creep! That’s my talent you’re drooling all over!”
Han Eun-Sol’s fist slammed into Zhao Xu’s chin. The Chinese man cried out in shock while ungainly crumbling to the floor.
Han Eun-Sol growled menacingly. “Imma kill both of you bastards!”
“Eun-Sol, Eun-Sol! Let them be,” said Choi Yeon-Ha while casually waving her hand. “Let’s get out of here.”
“You want to let these bastards go?”
“We’ve already caused a scene, okay? You want to make it worse?”
“...Sorry. Blood rushed to my head, you see.”
Han Eun-Sol grunted, then glanced at Zhao Xu. The latter man barely pushed himself up off the floor.
“You...!” Zhao Xu snarled, his expression hideously crumpled. “Have you gone insane, you little bastard!”
Choi Yeon-Ha yelled at him. “You better shut up!”
When the interpreter faltered and failed to do her job, Choi Yeon-Ha glared at her next. The frightened interpreter hurriedly resumed translating.
“Listen here, you pig! I don’t need your money. I don’t want to make money that way! You think I’m that desperate?! Humoring a bunch of creepy old bastards just to make a few bucks?! If I was gonna do that for my career, I would have become a megastar ten years ago, you bastards!”
Choi Yeon-Ha roughly kicked the table, then turned away from Zhao Xu, her glare locking on Wu Chao weakly moaning on the floor.
“As for you, you better learn to control your hand! Who gave you permission to touch me! F*cking creep!”
She then mercilessly stomped on Wu Chao’s hand with her heel.
“Aaaahk?! Aaaaaak!”
Wu Chao screamed again, but Choi Yeon-Ha continued to dig her heel into his hand, her expression one of utter nonchalance. She then turned around to leave.
“Let’s go.”
“Got it, noona.”
Before they could take another step, however...!
“Wait!”
Wu Chao suddenly shouted, prompting Choi Yeon-Ha to stop and glance behind her.
“You... You bi*ch! Do you have any idea what you’ve done?!”
“I kicked a misbehaving dog around. But so what? I might be a bi*ch, but you’re a son of a bi*ch, aren’t you? That means I can beat you up as much as I want, right? Is there a problem?”
Han Eun-Sol tutted and chimed in. “Noona, that’s animal abuse, you know? These bastards are worse than dogs.”
“Ah, that’s right.”
Wu Chao finally sat upright. He held his forehead as blood continued to trickle down from somewhere beyond his hairline.
“You insane bi*ch! Did you go insane after shooting a few too many TV shows?! You think reality is the same as movies?! You are not walking out of here in one piece!”
“...”
Choi Yeon-Ha’s expression hardened slightly when she heard that threat.
“I will show you! Today, you’ll learn! Let’s see if you can make the same face when I’m done with you! I will hurt you until you beg me to stop! I’ll make you say you’ll do anything to survive with your own mouth! What the hell are you waiting for, Zhao Xu!”
Wu Chao angrily yelled, prompting Zhao Xu to press a bell nearby.
Han Eun-Sol’s complexion paled at this sight. He finally remembered that the Chinese had reserved this place.
That meant they were familiar with this establishment. And it also meant this place was on their side. Besides, this establishment should provide muscles to guard the valuable patrons using private rooms like this one. Even if that wasn’t true, and this place only had its regular employees and servers, Han Eun-Sol and Choi Yeon-Ha still wouldn’t be able to shake them off.
Han Eun-Sol could have called the cops had they been in South Korea, but they were not. He had momentarily forgotten about that crucial fact. He should have dragged Choi Yeon-Ha away and fled the scene while the two Chinese men were still on the floor...!
Knock, knock!
Before Han Eun-Sol’s train of thoughts could finish, someone knocked on the door.
“Hurry up and come inside! Teach these two a lesson!” Wu Chao roared again.
The door was shoved open, and Choi Yeon-Ha and Han Eun-Sol watched a man walk inside, their faces rapidly paling in dread. However, when they saw who it was, their figures almost lost balance and crumbled. After staggering a bit, they sighed in relief.
“Yes, I’m here now. Would you like something else to drink, customers? Or...?”
The man who had entered the room, Lee Hyeon-Su, smiled brightly while scanning the interior.
The flushed-face Choi Yeon-Ha stared back at him in a barely disguised flabbergast before asking cautiously. “Why... are you here?”
“Well, I thought I should come in case of an emergency, ma’am.”
“Then, how did you slip inside?”
“Through the doorway, of course. Oh, is that a bottle of Maotai? Wow, you were drinking such expensive booze?”
Lee Hyeon-Su grinned like an excited kid and stepped into the room, then grabbed the bottle of liquor before gulping several mouthfuls.
“...Oiii? This is fake! These f*ckers, they were making you drink some cheap-ass crap when they have so much money?”
Choi Yeon-Ha blinked her eyes in stupefaction. “Wait, that’s... a fake?”
“Yes, ma’am. I’ve drunk real Maotai before, so I’m pretty sure this is counterfeit. The real thing doesn’t taste like this.”
“What? Awooo, seriously?!”
Choi Yeon-Ha glared at Wu Chao in pure annoyance. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Wu Chao was flabbergasted by what happened and hurriedly asked, “W-who the f*ck are you?! How did you get in here, you as*hole?!”
Lee Hyeon-Su frowned deeply. “Why are Chinese people so brazen like this? Busy calling a total stranger names and all. What if I was a bad guy out for blood, eh?”
Choi Yeon-Ha subtly cocked an eyebrow and retorted, “But you are a bad guy, aren’t you?”
“Yes, ma’am. Guilty as charged,” said Lee Hyeon-Su while shrugging casually. “Anyways. It looks like I need to wrap this situation up, so... Do you mind stepping outside for a bit? The servers and the receptionist madam are all sitting quietly in one of the rooms, so they won’t see you.”
“Wrap... up? Wrap what up?”
“I can more or less tell what happened here from the state of things. And I also heard a bit of the commotion itself, too.”
“I see...?”
Lee Hyeon-Su smirked. “I can’t predict how human relationships will pan out, but at the very least, you’re my boss’s lady. And a director of our company, too. Obviously, I can’t let someone get away with insulting you like this. Besides, straightening things up now will make the aftermath easier to deal with, too.”
“I don’t follow?” Choi Yeon-Ha asked back after failing to comprehend Lee Hyeon-Su.
That was when he subtly turned his head to look back at her. And he was smiling.
Watching his narrow-eyed smile sent this indescribable chill down Choi Yeon-Ha’s spine. She reflexively stumbled back a step.
“I’ll be done in a jiffy, so if you step outside for a bit...”
Choi Yeon-Ha hurriedly said, “N-no, wait, Mister Lee. No, I mean, Chief Lee.”
“Yes? What is it?”
Choi Yeon-Ha stammered a little while trying to clarify her position. “Y-yes, I know you and Mister Jin-Ho aren’t saints, and that the world you live in is very different from mine. Even so, I’d like to stay in reality, okay? Please don’t drag the matters I’m involved in into a realm of fantasy.”
“That’s why I suggested you should step outside for a bit, ma’am.”
“But that’s like burying my head in sand, no?! What will change if I do that! Just leave them be! Don’t do anything to them!”
“Well, if you say so,” Lee Hyeon-Su casually shrugged again, then obediently stepped back.
Choi Yeon-Ha blinked her eyes again. “Wait... You’re giving up? Just like that?”
“I thought that was what you wanted?” Lee Hyeon-Su retorted sourly.
“But, so easily like this?”
“Ma’am, I’m a spineless wimp who will change his mind in a snap of a finger. Besides, my superior ordered me to back off, so what choice do I have? If you tell me to jump, all I can do is ask how high.”
“I-I’m your superior?”
Lee Hyeon-S shrugged yet again. “Of course, you’re not my superior in MK’s hierarchy. I’m not a part of that company, after all. However, the Assembly Master’s girlfriend is definitely my superior. In that situation, things like official positions have no bearing on the actual hierarchy. I don’t want to die young, you see?”
“...”
“That’s why~! I’ll be in your care, ma’am. Ehehe.”
Choi Yeon-Ha making a half flabbergasted, half dismayed face stared openly at Lee Hyeon-Su.
She just couldn’t figure this man out. Of course, she wasn’t mistaken about that spine-chilling dread she felt just now. What if Choi Yeon-Ha had listened to Lee Hyeon-Su and stepped outside the room?
She didn’t want to imagine it. She still wanted to live on as a member of “reality“, after all!
Choi Yeon-Ha tugged at Lee Hyeon-Su’s sleeve. “Let’s just go. Leave them be. You don’t need to assault these people anymore.”
Lee Hyeon-Su cocked an eyebrow. “I wasn’t planning to beat them up, though...? Mm, hang on. Maybe it was better for you to be under a false impression.”
“Yes, yes, whatever! Can we just get out of here now?”
“Before we leave...”
Lee Hyeon-Su trotted toward Wu Chao, then suddenly kicked the latter in the chest. Wu Chao let out a short, painful gasp as he tumbled back.
CRUNCH!
That was when Lee Hyeon-Su stomped on Wu Chao’s right hand. The chilling noise of bones breaking resounded in the room.
“Aaaaaaaahk?!”
Wu Chao screamed while grabbing at Lee Hyeon-Su’s leg with his free hand. However, Lee Hyeon-Su remained unmoving from the spot. In fact, he even unhurriedly took out a packet of cigarettes, then mouthed a cigarette before lighting it up.
“Fuu-woo...”
Lee Hyeon-Su exhaled lengthy cigarette smoke in the air, then groaned loudly. “Bastards like you are the reason why I can’t quit smoking! No, actually, it’s the Assembly Master’s fault, but still!”
Lee Hyeon-Su coldly glared at Wu Chao.
“You should’ve realized who you were messing with. How dare you lay your disgusting hands on the Assembly Master’s girlfriend?”
“Aaaaahk! Aaaaahk!”
“Be thankful that Miss Choi is such a generous person, okay? We’ll be settling this account with only one hand of yours, after all!”
CRUNCH!
Lee Hyeon-Su twisted his foot thoroughly to crush Wu Chao’s hand underneath. When Wu Chao’s mouth flew wide open in a pained scream, Lee Hyeon-Su casually tossed his cigarette into the opening.
“Why, thank you for the ashtray service.”
Lee Hyeon-Su unhesitantly turned around to leave.
“Thank you for waiting. Shall we get going, then?”
“...”
Choi Yeon-Ha frowned deeply while studying Lee Hyeon-Su’s face.
He furrowed his brow in return. “Ma’am? Do you mind if I say something?”
“What is it?”
“Being stared at like this by a person who chose to crack a beer bottle on a human head is kinda weird, you see? Anyone could tell that my method is easily the most logical one here.”
Choi Yeon-Ha sighed. “Have you ever thought about how off-kilter your logic can be?”
“Nope, ma’am.”
“...I see. Sorry for asking. Okay, let’s go.”
“As you wish.”
Lee Hyeon-Su grinned brightly while closing the door behind him.
“Right. Let’s bounce before the local peace officers show up. Things will get mighty inconvenient if they catch us here, after all!”
Choi Yeon-Ha tutted. “But things have already become pretty inconvenient, though?”
“Not necessarily. We can just return to Korea, and that would be all. Those two wouldn’t dare report you, you see? So everything will work out as long as we don’t get caught at the scene of the crime.”
“Really? Even though their Public Security people are on their side?”
“Of course. Even then...” Lee Hyeon-Su smirked, then glanced at Han Eun-Sol. “Did you do as I asked?”
Han Eun-Sol coolly nodded. “Yes, Chief Lee.”
“Do what?” Choi Yeon-Ha tilted her head in confusion.
Han Eun-Sol quickly explained himself. “Before we left, Chief Lee told me to record the contents of the meeting on the phone, so I downloaded a new app during the taxi ride and recorded everything that happened.”
“...”
Han Eun-Sol nodded. “With proof, they probably won’t try to go all the way. This whole thing could become a diplomatic embarrassment, after all.”
“Indeed. They should fear the Party a lot more than us, so we’ll shut them up with... Mm?” Lee Hyeon-Su stopped talking and tilted his head, then opened the door to the room again. “Hey, you. You heard us, right? Oops, that was in Korean, wasn’t it? Let me translate for you, then. We’ve recorded everything you said, so don’t report us like an idiot, okay? Because I’m transmitting this recording to South Korea as an insurance. We’re gonna release the tape to the media if Public Security comes around knocking on our doorstep.”
He didn’t hear their replies, but still closed the door while thinking that they must’ve heard him loud and clear.
“Well, then! Shall we go? Our Assembly Master is waiting for you.”
Choi Yeon-Ha dazedly nodded, then followed Lee Hyeon-Su through the corridor. That was when she noticed the last room’s door was slightly ajar.
She stopped walking to peek inside, and discovered roughed-up employees passed out on the floor, as well as the receptionist woman, the madam of this establishment, shivering pitifully while hugging herself next to them.
Choi Yeon-Ha clamped her slack jaw shut, then stared at Lee Hyeon-Su again.
“Eii~, even though I told them to keep the door closed,” Lee Hyeon-Su awkwardly chuckled. “I have a taxi on standby at the entrance, ma’am.”
“You work really quickly, don’t you?”
“Fufufu~! Saying this out loud is kind of embarrassing, but! If I had been a talent manager, I probably would have gone down as a legend in the entertainment industry.”
“...I can tell you’re not joking, and that’s the problem, I guess,” Choi Yeon-Ha sighed, then shook her head while heading to the elevator. “I’m curious about something, though.”
“You can ask away, ma’am.”
“Does Mister Jin-Ho also handle business this way?”
“Oh, that? But I thought you’ve already witnessed how he does things?”
“...”
He was right, of course. She had witnessed that already, hadn’t she?
“Compared to our Assembly Master, I’m considerably more gentlemanly, I’ll have you know.”
“...You’re all insane.”
Choi Yeon-Ha inwardly swore not to get too friendly with people like Lee Hyeon-Su while stepping into the waiting elevator.
