Destroying My Own World-Chapter 374 Distance.
Mykel was taking a stroll around the city with a cigarette in his mouth. Everyone was looking at him and wanted to ask for an autograph and a photo with him, but nobody dared to approach him. His troubled expression was the reason they gave him space and let him be.
It was the first time Mykel had walked around the city after months of being kept hidden in the palace. His first destination was to enjoy his time away from everyone and everything while drinking.
"Sir Alester?!" The pub owner was shocked when he saw Mykel enter his pub. "I-Is there anything that you need?" he asked nervously as he gulped.
"Give a bottle of vodka. The best you have," Mykel sat at the counter as he removed his suit and put it on the chair next to him.
"Right away, Sir! It's on the house!" The pub owner said and hurriedly walked to the back to grab his finest vodka.
Mykel's phone rang, and it was from Zachary, but he ignored it since he didn't want to be bothered. He turned off his phone and put it in his pocket. The pub wonder then came back and put the bottle of vodka and a glass in front of him.
Mykel enjoyed his time and it flew by in the blink of an eye as he was so used to doing nothing for almost eternity. He looked at the clock on the wall and saw it past midnight and the pub owner replaced the bottle whenever it got empty.
"How much for everything?" Mykel asked as he put out the cigarette.

"It's on the house, Sir! You don't have to pay!" The pub owner shook his hands and head repeatedly.
"Money doesn't matter to me, but it matters to you. Don't make yourself struggle," Mykel responded as he grabbed his wallet and gave all the money he had inside. "Give me another bottle, and I will leave once I finish it," he sighed and put the wallet in his pocket.
"Th-thank you, Sir!" The pub owner was in disbelief at the amount of money Mykel gave him.
Mykel left the pub at three in the morning and he walked quite far from the palace. He then decided to take a few days off and went off the grid to think about the dream that felt so real. He couldn't stop thinking about her and how she was doing and what she had been up to.
"Are you hoping to see her again in your dream?" Aevia asked the moment Mykel entered a motel room.
"Why? Are you going to prevent me from having that dream again?" Mykel as he walked to the bathroom. "I can see it in your eyes that you're so eager to play a game," he pointed out as he washed his face.
"I'm bored, and you're bored as well. Why she hasn't shown herself up and opened the rift? Does she think it would take these humans a while to decide what to do?" Aevia was sitting on the bed and looking at the program on the TV.
"Maybe because you gave her power to manipulate time. She might try to find out about your existence and maybe she's analyzing the power right now as we speak," Mykel answered as he untied and unbuttoned his shirt.
"How do you know that? Did you read my mind? That's exactly what she's doing right now, discussing it with Luciel, or should I call her Ciel in this world," Aevia asked and watched Mykel lie down on the bed. "Wait a minute..." Aevia paused to crawl on top of Mykel's body and looked at his eyes closed. "Are you planning to sleep so you can meet her again?" she asked.
"Am I not allowed to have something for myself?" Mykel asked and when he opened his eyes, Aevia's face was right above him. "After all, I have nothing else to do and might as well try to see her again," he pointed and closed his eyes again.
A week had passed and there were no signs of a rift opening which only made people sit on the edge. It was worse than knowing when the time would come, and all the Gifted were restless and anxious every second that passed. Mykel on the other hand didn't meet Elena again after he spent most of the time sleeping in the motel.
Mykel decided to go back to the palace after missing for an entire week and didn't bother to turn on his phone. When he came back, the guards and the Zero Tier Gifted were speechless when they saw him entering the palace. It appeared that they were looking for him nonstop for a week by both Elestria and Elysande.
"Mykel Alester!" Elestria shouted as she walked down the stairs with Elysande by her side. They both looked angry and relieved at the same time to see him again. "Where have you been?! Do you know how worried sick we are?!" she asked and all the maids and guards left the hall to give them privacy.
Elysande wanted to approach Mykel, but she held herself back and stayed beside Elestria. She wanted to show both Mykel and Elestria that she preferred to be with her sister than him. But she couldn't help but look at him and wonder if he was going out to have some fun like any other man.
"I'm sorry, Your Highness. I just want to have time alone, and I'm fine now," Mykel answered.
"Alone? Are you sure you're not having fun with random women out there because you have gained people's recognition?" Elestria asked with her eyes squinted and she asked that question not only for herself but to represent Elysande's concern as well.
"Is Your Highness really think lowly of me? For asking a moment..." Mykel paused and then he shook his head. "I'm sorry, Your Highness, but I can't give you any proof," he continued. Experience tales at novelbuddy
"It's okay, Ely. I think we went a bit too far because he might really need it," Elysande held Elestria's hand and looked her in the eye. "It's about his daughter after all," she added.
Elestria listened to Elysande and then she let Mykel be alone for a while, but she didn't allow him to leave unless for a good reason. Mykel then left and went straight to the bar in the palace to have a drink on his own.
Three days had passed, and Mykel was on his way to the kitchen to make his own food. On his way there, he saw Elysande at the end of the hallway talking with the maids and listening to their family problems and issues.
"Good morning, Sir Alester," all the maids bowed their heads at Mykel as soon as he was close enough to them. "Would you like the cook to prefer your breakfast, Sir?" the maid asked.
"No, I'm on my way to the kitchen myself. I want to make my own breakfast today," Mykel answered.
All the maids bowed their heads once again and then excused themselves, leaving Elysande and Mykel alone. The two hadn't been sleeping together ever since Mykel came back nor Elysande came to see him.
"Mykel, there's something that I need to tell you," Elysande looked at Mykel.
"There's no need for My Lady to say anything because I already know. You're trying to distance yourself and I'm not going to ask why. I respect your decision and I understand, My Lady," Mykel said with a gentle smile. "Will you excuse me, My Lady," he bowed his head and then walked past her.
Elysande was indeed trying to say that, but seeing Mykel was fine about it and how he put the wall between them was a bit discomforting even though it was what she wanted. She turned around and looked at Mykel how could he act so cold toward her after everything they had done the past months.
"What are you thinking, Ely? Isn't this what you want?" Elysande sighed and mumbled to herself.
Mykel was making a sandwich in the kitchen while talking with the chef, but then an earthquake happened. Everyone was panicking, but Mykel was unbothered and enjoyed his sandwich until he felt a strong presence descend. He could see the blue sky turned into gold and he knew who came because of the gold feathered wings that covered the sky.
Mykel went outside the palace and saw Beldathiel like a small dot in the sky because her wings were massive and covered half of the sky. Elestria and Elysande walked out of the palace and stood behind him and Elysande was petrified by it since it was the first time she had seen Beldathiel.
The world was shaken by Beldathiel's presence and it petrified those normal people. They realized how bad it was seeing that the Gifted had to fight someone like that. It would be like ants trying to defeat an elephant.
When everyone was petrified, Beldathiel folded her wings in the blink of an eye and made them disappear, blinding everyone with the sunlight that hit their eyes. She was free falling and to Elysande and Elestria's surprise, Beldathiel landed in front of the Queen's Palace.
"I came here just to greet him, so don't try to raise your weapons at me or I will destroy your whole nation," Beldathiel looked at Elestria as she approached Mykel.
Beldathiel slowly put her arms around Mykel's neck and stared him in the eye. She tilted her head and kept staring at him without saying a single word.
"You can kill me right here and right now, but why are you not moving a muscle?" Beldathiel asked.
"We can do that later," Mykel answered.
"Then please be gentle..." Beldathiel leaned forward and kissed Mykel on the lips. "Don't keep me waiting," she whispered as she glanced at Elestria and Elysande who were baffled by what they witnessed.
Beldathiel spread her wings and wrapped herself in them, and then she disappeared, leaving gold feathers on the ground. Mykel then wiped his lips and looked at his thumb where he could see gold dust on it. He scoffed and then walked back inside the palace with a smirk on his face.
