Devouring Dragon Heir-Chapter 17: Ch Lucky Draw
Chapter 17: Ch17 Lucky Draw
"System," Klaus asked, his voice calm despite the serious implications of the now-active main quest.
"Please explain the lucky draw feature in full detail."
The system responded instantly, its voice as devoid of emotion as always, yet conveying vast amounts of information. [Host, here are the options available for the Lucky Draw]
Normal Draw - 10 DP
Elite Draw - 100 DP
Supreme Draw - 500 DP
Legendary Draw - 1000 DP
Mythic Draw - 10,000 DP
Divine Draw - 100,000 DP
Godly Draw - 1,000,000 DP
Additional points will be charged to set the parameters of the draw based on the description.]
Klaus’s jaw went slack. "Damn system, you wanna be a tycoon?"
He muttered the sheer scale of the costs for the higher-tier draws, which hit him like a physical blow. He currently had 990 Draw Points (DP)
a substantial sum, but a mere drop compared to the millions required for a Godly Draw.
"Can you explain every type of draw and what the parameters are?" he pressed, trying to rein in his initial shock and focus on understanding the mechanics.
The system’s voice returned, exuding infinite patience.
[Host should keep in mind that every drawing can fetch you every type of item. For example, you can get a godly item from a Normal Draw,
it’s just that the chances of drawing one are almost 0.0001%. However, in a Godly Draw, the chances are about 10%. It’s similar for every rank below it.
Also, keep in mind that there is a rank limit to the draw. For example, currently, you are at the Mortal Stage, so you can draw items up to the highest rank in a mortal stage, which is EX-ranked.
In theory, for maximum benefits right now, the Host should do till Supreme Draws. Above that, the Host should wait until reaching higher stages.]
Klaus felt a bead of sweat trickle down his temple. This new layer of restriction was unexpected.
"System, I don’t get the criteria. Why is there a limiter on the quality of the draws?" His mind raced, grappling with this random-ass limit introduced out of the blue.
[To protect the Host from the Heavenly Will. It will detect anything greater than the world limit entering the world," the system’s explanation was stark, cold in its tone.]
A memory flashed in Klaus’s mind. "But didn’t you give a divine rank skill before?" he asked,
[That was different. It came with the system package. But the draw items are teleported from the Dragon Treasury itself.]
"Ohh!" Klaus breathed, the pieces finally clicking into place.
The Divine skills he possessed were an inherent part of the system itself, bypassing the world’s detection. But items drawn were external, sourced from a place called the Dragon Treasury, making them subject to the Heavenly Will’s scrutiny.
"I guess, I understand." He said it aloud, but in truth, a cascade of new questions flooded his mind. What was the Dragon Treasury? How vast was it? And what exactly was the Heavenly Will capable of detecting?
He decided to keep these burgeoning queries to himself for now, filing them away for a later, more opportune moment.
Ignoring Klaus’s internal rambling, the system continued.
[The parameter setting is added for the Host’s convenience. In case the Host wants a specific item, the Host can use a set of one-word parameters for some Draw points each.
For example, if the Host wants a fire-based skill, the Host can set parameters [skill] and [fire] to narrow down the draws to that domain.

[Ding! The host can draw now!] fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Okay," Klaus said, rubbing his hands together in anticipation. This was it. The moment of truth for the Lucky Draw.
But just as he was about to make his selection, a thought, cold and unsettling, crept into his mind, an echo of a previous, disturbing revelation. He remembered the system’s earlier warning about his fate threads being severed.
"Wait a minute" he interjected, a frown creasing his brow. "Didn’t you say the Heavenly Will had cut my fate threads, so should I assume that my luck has become shit?"
The very idea was a nightmare for him, what if he used all his draw points only to end up with shitty F-rank items.
[Not in the way the Host thinks. Your life will be disrupted, but there is no effect on luck. It’s just that things won’t go as they are planned to.]
"Can I recover my fate?" he asked, a glimmer of hope sparking within him.
[Affirmative]
"Can you tell me the way?"
[Reach S rank first] the system replied, its tone as cold and unyielding.
"Okay, I guess I’ll have to wait," Klaus sighed, the momentary surge of hope deflating into a quiet resignation. Some things, it seemed, couldn’t be rushed. S-rank felt incredibly distant now, a summit shrouded in mist.
He then proceeded to look at the lucky draw screen, his immediate needs pushing aside the existential pondering. He remembered that he needed immediate offensive skills. His current repertoire, while growing, lacked a truly devastating attack, something that could turn the tide against a formidable opponent. He also keenly felt the absence of a reliable weapon, something more than just a mundane blade with a chipped edge. He currently had 990 Draw Points.
He looked at the options. Given his ’Mortal Stage’ limitation, the Supreme Draw at 500 DP offered the maximum benefit. It was a hefty price, but the chance of getting an EX-ranked item was too good to pass up.
He then instructed the system, his voice firm and decisive.
"Initiate a Supreme Draw and add the parameters [sword] and [skill]."
He was going all in for something that could define his combat style.
[Ding! Supreme Draw confirmation. Deduct 500 DP?]
"Approved," Klaus affirmed, a surge of adrenaline tingling through him.
[DING! Parameter [sword] locking confirmation. Deduct 10 DP?]
"Approved," he responded, watching his DP tick down.
[Ding! Parameter [skill] locking confirmation. Deduct 100 DP?]
"So, parameters get more expensive with each addition. Approved,"
Klaus noted, a mental tally of the system’s economics forming in his mind. The more specific he got, the more it cost. A fair trade for precision, he supposed. His remaining DP was now 380.
[Confirmed! Initiating a draw...]
Klaus squeezed his eyes shut, his hands rubbing together instinctively. "Beginner’s luck, please," he whispered, his fingers crossed tightly. This was it. His first true spin on the cosmic roulette.
A chime, loud and triumphant, echoed in his mind.
[Ding! Congratulations Host for drawing the SSS rank skill ’Stellar Sword Descent’!]
An immediate torrent of information, vivid and complete, flooded his consciousness. The skill’s essence, its forms, and its very mechanics imprinted themselves directly into his mind.
--------------------------------
Skill Name: Stellar Sword Descent
Rank: SSS
Description: Skill developed by the apostle of stars.
FIRST FORM - STAR TOUCH: Infuse the sword with starlight and other elements to deliver a clean upper strike, causing massive damage to the target and surroundings.
SECOND FORM - SONG OF THE STARS: Deliver a brutal combo of sword strikes, completely dominating the enemy, each strike as destructive as a meteor.
THIRD FORM - STAR SWORD’S CRY: Unleash a beam of star energy infused with the host’s elemental laws to obliterate an enemy.

Klaus’s eyes snapped open. He was not just exhilarated,
he was dumbfounded. An SSS rank skill! He had not expected such a powerful, multi-faceted skill. The sheer destructive potential outlined in the description was mind-boggling.
Star Touch, Song of the Stars, Star Sword’s Cry, each name alone sent shivers of anticipation down his spine. This was exactly what he needed, and more.
Then he noticed the locked forms. Four question marks stared back at him from the skill description.
"System," he asked, a slight curiosity in his voice, "why are the other forms locked?"
[Host, you need to increase your rank to unlock the rest of the skill effects]
the system promptly replied.
"How do I increase my rank?" Klaus immediately inquired, his excitement now tempered by a new objective.
[Host needs to defeat at least 10 foes of the upper rank to advance]
"WTF?!" Klaus exclaimed, the sudden revelation throwing him for a loop.
"So the rank shown here is not the quantification of my net power?!" He had assumed his F-rank status was a hard, quantifiable measure of his capabilities. This was a complete paradigm shift.
[An individual’s power can only be measured by his killing capacity. That is what the dragons believe, and also the assessment criteria are similar to the Hunter Association, yet a bit different] the system continued, elaborating on a deeper truth.
[Stats assigned by the system on this planet fail to measure the battle ability of individuals. That is why you must have heard many cases where a lower-ranked person defeated an upper rank, and that is why the association also checks which ranked monster you kill, but their criteria are also flawed for various reasons.]
Klaus felt a profound sense of disbelief. "Why does it feel like my whole life has been a lie?!" The comfortable, albeit limited, understanding he had of the world had just shattered.
[Host must understand that the world you live in is not as developed as you think. The common people are not taught such things, and you, as an F-ranker in the past, also wouldn’t have known. Only highly organized institutions control the main knowledge. The rest are just ruffians.]
A sense of vindication, mixed with a healthy dose of frustration, settled over Klaus. The system’s words, while blunt, made a twisted kind of sense.
It explained the anomalies he’d heard of, the almost mythical tales of lower-ranked individuals overcoming higher-ranked adversaries. It explained why his progress felt so different from what he had expected.
He felt a bit better after listening to this, a grudging acceptance washing over him.
"Whatever," he muttered, looking out of his window at the bustling streets of the capital city, the hot afternoon air striking his face.
"I’ll get to know most of the stuff in the Guardian academy." His path was becoming clearer, even if the world itself was far more complex than he’d ever imagined.

AUTH NOTE-
I hope you like the story I know the pace has not picked up really yet but around the 20th Chapter, things will be in place.
As an author, I can say that the biggest challenge I face is the lack of a reader’s perspective which is why your feedback is really important for me. So please give review or at least a Chapter comment.
Have a nice day <3.
