Devouring Dragon Heir-Chapter 31: Ch New quest
Chapter 31: Ch 31 New quest
As Klaus’s flashback ended, the vivid, painful memories of his past life on Earth slowly receded.
He swallowed another stamina potion, feeling its restorative warmth spread through his body, erasing the lingering fatigue from his battle with the Yeti horde.
His mood, however, remained sour.
The sudden resurfacing of old anger, the raw bitterness of remembering the struggles of weakness, had left a sting.
But this negative mood did not last long. A system notification sounded.
[DING!! A Main Quest has been assigned!!]

------------------------------
A new quest panel floated before Klaus’s eyes.
He read the description, and a low chuckle escaped his lips.
This was his second quest from the system, and he had to admit, this system had a uniquely dry and mocking sense of humor.
The idea of the "ants" from his past being worth no more than a box of candy resonated deeply with his current mood.
"Anyway, I would have already done that even without any rewards," Klaus said aloud, his voice flat but resolute.
The quest simply formalized a goal he had already subconsciously held.
He closed the quest panel and refocused on his current environment. His gaze drifted to his Ice Affinity, which had reached 1.8% after his relentless absorption of the A-rank Yetis.
"System, show me what I can achieve with this much affinity," Klaus requested.
He knew ice affinity granted various benefits, but he wanted a precise breakdown of his current level.
--------------------------------
[DING! HERE ARE THE EFFECTS HOST AT YOUR CURRENT ICE AFFINITY is TIER-8 (1% to 10%):]
Enhanced already Existing Effects: Existing ice-related effects are significantly boosted. This specifically includes:
- [ice resistance]: Your natural resistance to cold and ice-based attacks is substantially increased, making you nearly immune to lower-ranked frost effects and significantly reducing damage from higher-ranked ones.
- [ice manipulation]: Your control over ice elementals and ice generation is greatly enhanced, allowing for more complex constructs and finer control over ice formations.
- [lowered mana consumption]: The mana cost for all ice-related skills and abilities is noticeably reduced, allowing for prolonged use and greater efficiency.
SKILL SYNTHESIS: You can now synthesize new ice-related skills up to EX-rank. (Current highest rank achievable by host: S-rank, due to host’s current percentage). This means you can create entirely new ice skills by studied and shaping the intent behind the skill.
ELEMENTAL SUPPRESSION: You can suppress ice elemental beings with an ice-infused aura if they are of a lower Rank than you. This aura instills a primal fear or paralysis, making them unable to fight effectively or even move.
ABUNDANCE EFFECT: If you are in a place where the ice element is in abundance, you do not need to expend your personal mana for ice-related abilities. The elements in nature will obey you, giving you virtually infinite ice mana for the duration of your stay in such environments.
------------------------------------------
"Fuck, isn’t that too broken?" Klaus muttered, a genuine note of surprise in his voice.
The implications of infinite ice mana in an ice dungeon were staggering. This means from now on in this dungeon my mana won’t run out?
[affirmative host, it’s not the same case for stamina]
"What about higher tiers of affinity? What would 10% to 50% look like?" He wondered, but then again, who was he to complain about such overwhelming advantages?
He quickly dismissed the thought; he would discover those benefits when he reached them.
A distinct tremor suddenly vibrated through the ground, diverting his immediate attention.
Klaus stood up from his relaxed posture on the blood-stained ice, his senses on high alert.
He scanned the horizon of icy peaks and saw a massive wave of Yetis approaching.
In their vanguard, towering over the rest, was a Yeti of colossal build, radiating an oppressive aura, a raw, untamed power that made the very air crackle with cold.
"Damn, that is an S-rank beast," Klaus commented, a thin smile gracing his lips.
"It’s nice that I ranked up; otherwise, that thing would have been a headache."
As if on cue, the Yeti’s detailed profile opened automatically in front of him, provided by his system.
--------------------------------------
Race: Yeti
Rank: S
---TRAITS:
NATURAL ARMOR: Thick fur and hide provide inherent resistance to cold and all forms of physical blunt force, significantly reducing incoming damage from such attacks.
CLAWS & FANGS: Extremely sharp, naturally evolved weapons for devastating melee combat, capable of easily rending flesh, bone, and even durable materials.
ENHANCED MOVEMENT (C):Ice is the natural terrain of the Yeti, granting it profoundly enhanced movement capabilities, superior traction, and instincts specific to navigating and fighting within icy landscapes with unparalleled agility and speed. It can glide and maneuver on ice as if it were solid ground.
TRIBE LEADER (A): While in battle, the Yeti leader exudes a commanding aura, creating powerful synergy among its subordinates on the battlefield. This boosts their morale, coordination, and individual combat effectiveness.
---SKILLS:
FREEZING ROAR (C):A terrifying, guttural roar that can disorient foes, causing minor frost damage and inducing a state of deep fear or momentary paralysis. Its range and intensity are greater than lower-ranked versions.
ICE ARROW (B):Allows the user to create and hurl multiple sharp arrows composed of solidified ice at enemies with increased speed, precision, and destructive force compared to lower-ranked Yetis’ versions.
FROST BREATH (B):Exhales a concentrated, wide cone of intensely freezing air that can slow and damage multiple enemies simultaneously, and also causes a localized freezing effect on contact that can immobilize targets for short durations.
ICE ARMOR (A):Forms a temporary, exceptionally durable armor of solid ice around the user, capable of protecting against both physical and magical attacks. This provides a significant defensive boost, absorbing a large amount of incoming damage before shattering.
ICE CONJURE (A):Enables the user to conjure various complex ice weapons, such as swords, axes, or spears, that deal more than twice the normal damage as ordinary weapons of a similar type due to their magical properties, razor sharpness, and inherent frost effects.
BLIZZARD (S):
Effects:
- Summon a harsh, localized snowstorm on the battlefield, rapidly suppressing foes by creating an environment of intensely negative temperatures that drain their vitality.
- Inflict a powerful freezing effect on all enemies caught within the blizzard, gradually turning them into ice statues if sustained.
- Significantly slow down the movement speed of enemies, hindering their evasion and attack capabilities.
- Drastically lower the visibility of the foe, creating a chaotic environment where only the user can see clearly, providing a significant tactical advantage.
-------------------------------------------
"Hmm... useful skill he has there," Klaus commented, his gaze fixed on the Blizzard (S) skill.
"Might as well make it mine."
His confidence was palpable. He had already grown powerful enough to confront an S-rank monster, even its most powerful abilities, head-on.
He recalled his own recent progress.
After methodically killing about 10 more A-ranked Yetis since his last affinity check, Klaus’s own rank had finally changed to A-rank.
He had felt the profound surge of mana capacity and an explosion of physical strength throughout his body.
This was why he had managed to defeat a thousand A-rank monsters on his own after that; his body and mana reserves had continuously expanded.
He understood it clearly: whichever rank Klaus ascended to, he would remain undefeated, bolstered by the power of his unique system and his innate potential as the heir of the Dragon God.
His personal status panel opened up at his mental command, confirming his newfound power.

As he saw the colossal, S-rank Yeti, the Tribe Leader, approaching at the head of its vast army, Klaus remained utterly calm.
This time, the Yetis’ numbers were around three thousand, three times the size of the previous wave.
The ground vibrated with their synchronized thudding steps.
But Klaus had already started making strategies to deal with them, meticulously calculating his timing and movements across the terrain.
As for fear? That was a thing of the past, a relic of his former weak self, vanished as he acquired his power and unwavering resolve.
The army of Yetis, a vast, white-furred tide, drew closer and closer.
The S-rank boss, its eyes burning with fury and cold intelligence, was now face to face with Klaus, only a few hundred meters away.
It noticed a smirk, cold and utterly confident, appeared on Klaus’s face. He spoke, his voice carrying clearly across the icy plain to the enraged beast.
"Hehe I was waiting for you, Welcome, my cute little punching bag."
