Did That Doctor Successfully Remarry Today?-Chapter 81 - 80 The Origin of the Name
Wei Yan couldnβt help but shake his head in exclamation as the man spoke so; Gao Chuan always managed to hit back at him perfectly without any fuss.
Indeed, it is he who will accompany Jiang An side by side in the days to come. π§πβ―ππππππ°π·π¦π.πΈβ΄π
The ashen-faced man snuffed out the cigarette in his hand, waiting until the embers turned to ash, then faintly said, "So, I am planning to let go in the future because of you. Do you know why I made up my mind today?"
Gao Chuan suddenly looked up upon hearing this, his deep black eyes reflecting the manβs chiseled face.
"I previously thought your fast-tracked marriage was a childβs play until today when Anan brought you here to see the teacher. In that silly girlβs eyes, the teacher is the most important person and her ultimate line, she brought you here means that she genuinely wants to live a good life with you," Wei Yan never thought that one day he would personally push Jiang Anβs heart towards someone else.
"So, now, you must be the most important person in her heart. I hope you will take good care of her in the future. But donβt be smug; if you dare to hurt her later on, I will be the first to take her away from your side." Though he was spouting harsh words, he lifted the corners of his mouth and laughed.
The tone sounded more like a willing entrustment and expectation.
As if after enduring silently for ten years, the girl hidden in his heart was finally to be handed over to someone else.
The spark in Gao Chuanβs hand was also pinched out by his fingers. Looking at the man speaking so affectionately about Jiang An in front of him, he felt choked.
He could no longer refute what Wei Yan said. In fact, his mind had already started to imagine whether Wei Yan would come to blows with him once he found out the reason behind his marriage to Jiang An.
And perhaps in the not-so-distant future, following the agreement between the two, he would divorce Jiang An, and this man would certainly step forward first.
After finishing his words, Wei Yan subdued his gaze, then finally lifted his head for a quick glance at Gao Chuan and said in a somewhat hoarse voice, "Tell Anan for me, Iβm leaving now, Iβll come to see the teacher another day."
Maybe, there was no need for him to stay any longer.
Gao Chuan watched as the manβs figure gradually vanished into the vast snowy field, his shadow shrinking into a small dot, the biting north wind blowing directly against the manβs acid-tipped nose.
On the other side, after Gao Chuan left, Jiang An rose and took a step closer to Fang Qingβs gravestone, collapsing on her knees in front of the white marble plinth, tears streaming down her face. She reached out and slowly brushed over the inscription on the stone, saying word by word, "Mom, Iβm here to see you."
"Mom, how are you doing over there?" Jiang Anβs gaze settled on the black and white photo of Fang Qing in front of her, instantly filled with glistening tears as she continued, "Iβm doing well here, you donβt have to worry."
"You could never have imagined that I got married. Itβs been two months now, can you guess who the groom was?" Jiang An jokingly said, her willow-like eyebrows slightly raising.
However, the air was eerily silent, with only the howling wind to answer her.
Jiang Anβs tears turned into laughter, "It was Dr. Gao, you used to praise him in front of me. Do you remember?"
"But we got married because of Dr. Gaoβs grandma. She fell seriously ill, and Dr. Gao didnβt want her to have any regrets before passing away, so he came to me for marriage. He had always helped with your affairs after you passed away," Jiang Anβs tears finally stopped, and she continued word for word: "I was also thinking that you didnβt get to see me married and having children in your lifetime, and I didnβt want to see the old lady have such regrets, so I agreed."
"But Mom, donβt misunderstand, Dr. Gao is very nice to me, and Mr. Gao and Mrs. Gao are especially kind to me."
"Mom, do you know?" Jiang An reached out to wipe the tears on her face, "Iβve graduated, my thesis was approved, and after New Yearβs Day, Iβll start my internship at City Hospital, the one you stayed in, the most authoritative hospital in the city..."
If time allowed, she would really like to tell Fang Qing everything that had happened recently.
After a long time, Jiang An walked out of the cemetery and saw Gao Chuan leaning against the car waiting for her. Today, the man wore a pure black cashmere coat and was leaning lazily against the car behind him, his long legs slightly bent, and his clear eyes staring at the ground, as if pondering something.
Seeing Jiang An coming over, Gao Chuan straightened up, took a step forward, turned back to unlock the car, and opened the door behind Jiang An. They both got into the car together. He took off his coat and handed it to the girl to cover her legs. Gao Chuan silently started the car, with his peripheral vision glancing from time to time at Jiang An, who was propping up her cheek and looking out the window. Jiang An seemed to have not recovered from her melancholy mood.
Scenes of a snow-white countryside passed through the girlβs almond-shaped eyes. The mist over the ice had completely dissipated, a pity that it was not like the brilliant sunshine of yesterday, the sky was gloomy, full of oppressiveness.
"Did Brother Wei Yan leave? Has he gone?" Jiang An was the first to break the silence between them. She did not expect Gao Chuan to accompany her at first, and she had not had time to explain to Wei Yan before.
Gao Chuanβs gaze turned to Jiang An and he replied, "He left first, and asked me to let you know."
Jiang An expressionlessly "Hmm"ed and continued to turn her face to watch the ever-changing scenery outside the window.
"Letβs go directly to Grandmaβs place, Ms. Shen has made food and is waiting." Gao Chuan received a message from Shen Mei just now and spoke to the girl beside him.
Jiang An nodded feebly, not having fully recovered yet when she heard Gao Chuan asking her a half-minute later: "Is there any special origin to your name?"
His magnetic voice passed by her ears, and Jiang An was surprised, sniffing she asked, "Why do you suddenly ask about this?"
Gao Chuan was still driving, his slender fingers tapping on the steering wheel, his eyes blinking rapidly, and he cleared his throat, "Itβs nothing, I just suddenly thought to ask."
The man still appeared indifferent on the surface, but his usually sensitive ears suddenly turned red.
Seeing this, Jiang Anβs mouth lifted in a subtle smile, her mood seemed to have improved a bit. She turned her head and smiled, "My dad is a Navy officer, he was on a mission by the sea when I was born, his return uncertain. After giving birth to me, my mom named me Jiang An, praying for my dadβs safe return."
The distant memory gently touched her heartstrings, yet Jiang An spoke with full sweetness, because her mom had told her that her dad indeed returned triumphantly the day after her birth.
She was indeed the little lucky star of the family, as her dad used to say.
Gao Chuan heard and nodded silently, not uttering a word, just continuously chanting Jiang Anβs name in his heart.
"Jiang An, Jiang An, Jiang An..."
Would this mean his understanding of Jiang An deepened by just a bit more?
