Chapter 179: Whacking Sense Into Her

"Too naive."

Pergina shook her head slightly. Just from Demi’s current performance, she didn’t think Demi could pull off her goal.

"Mas... Master, these are... are..."

Demi was totally speechless, constantly sneaking peeks at the red wardrobe out of the corner of her eye, stammering.

"That’s right, these are the knockout outfits that Master... er... a friend of mine put tons of effort into crafting! She left them with me to sell."

Though she hadn’t actually started selling them yet, Pergina believed their jaw-dropping effectiveness would definitely start a trend and bring in steady cash!

"But... isn’t it... too..."

"My dear student, Master reminds you that you’re not a kid anymore. Everything’s up to you."

"Young Master Carlos..."

Demi thought of all those young noble ladies eyeing Carlos like hungry wolves and couldn’t help gripping the red key tighter.

"Mas... Master, would these outfits work less on younger guys?"

"No way! The younger they are, the less experience they have. The effect would actually be way stronger!"

Pergina was totally confident in her... her friend’s carefully crafted work!

"I get it."

Hearing this, Demi felt relieved and secretly made up her mind.

...

The two women walked out of the dressing room.

Pergina asked her student curiously:

"Demi, which family’s young master is he?"

To make her student so dead set on landing him.

’Master doesn’t know about Young Master Carlos?’

Demi thought her master really had been totally out of touch with outside news lately, not even knowing about Young Master Carlos who’d caused such a massive stir.

"He’s the young master of the Valois family! He’s as perfect as some kind of god!"

Demi pressed her hands to her chest with a look of total worship.

"The Valois family!"

A portrait immediately popped into Pergina’s mind!

The crazy expensive portrait that had caused countless people to chase after it recently was said to show the genius young master of the Valois family from Ember City.

"Demi, you invited Carlos Valois? The original subject of those auction portraits that sold for insane prices?"

Pergina stopped dead in her tracks, staring at her student in shock.

"Yeah, the Valois family only has that one young master."

Demi nodded like it was no big deal.

Damn, she hadn’t managed to snag even one of those portraits!

After hearing Demi confirm it again, Pergina’s expression immediately got weird.

"I heard he’s still a 15-year-old kid. You know that, right?"

(Adult at 30, lifespan of 150 years)

"Mm-hmm, that seems to be about his age..."

Demi looked down. She’d actually known this from other people’s gossip ages ago, but had deliberately pushed it out of her mind.

Hearing this, Pergina looked at her like she was looking at some kind of complete freak.

"Demi, do you get what you’re doing?"

Demi didn’t dare meet her master’s stare but had zero intention of backing down.

Pergina’s expression was dead serious.

"My student! You’re breaking sacred law! If the security officers find out, your life will be permanently screwed!"

Hearing such serious warnings, Demi looked determined as she met her master’s harsh glare:

"Master, I’m ready! No matter what price I have to pay, I won’t regret it!"

"Smack!"

"Ow!"

Pergina harshly whacked her confused student on the head.

"You boy-crazy idiot! Can’t you wait a few years? What does someone that age even know?!"

Demi held her head with a stubborn look in her eyes:

"15 might be a bit young, but with Master’s knockout outfit, I’ll definitely succeed!"

She had no choice but to do this. Once Young Master Carlos got older... no, once Young Master Carlos left Rock Sand City, she might never get such a golden opportunity again in her whole life.

So even if it meant a lifetime of people pointing fingers and talking trash about her, or even getting thrown in jail, she had to be brave enough to try and grab this last chance!

Pergina hadn’t expected her student’s ’determination’ to be so intense.

"Smack!"

"That really hurts!"

She whacked her confused student’s head hard again, pissed off:

"Are you trying to trash Master’s reputation?"

She’d finally found an untapped market. If... if her student succeeded using her knockout outfit and then got busted and punished by security officers, how could she sell her products in the future?

Actually... they might sell even better!

Ugh! Was this the time to worry about sales?

Once something went south, forget about selling—whether she could even keep her shop open would be anybody’s guess. She might have to change her name and skip town.

"Master, I definitely won’t rat you out!"

Demi looked determined. If something happened, she’d take the fall herself!

"You... you..."

Pergina felt her blood pressure spiking. How did she end up with such a student?

Earlier she thought Demi was just a late bloomer and was happy her student had finally woken up.

But couldn’t she switch targets? He’s 15 years old!

Going after such a young kid—don’t you feel guilty?

She, Pergina, would be too embarrassed to even mention this to other people!

"Master, please chill out. Trust your student—I have standards! I won’t go that far!"

Demi rushed forward to pat her master’s chest soothingly.

"Ha, standards."

Pergina looked at her like she was watching some brand new piece of trash being born.

"Oh! Master! Why won’t you trust me?"

Demi was hurt that her master wouldn’t believe in her character.

"At most I’d just hold hands... then... um... and finally... um..."

Demi’s voice got quieter and quieter, her face burning red as her mind started going wild...

"Smack!"

"Ow!"

Demi held her head, totally miserable and scared her master would hit her again.

"Standards! Where are your standards? Where’s your line in the sand?"

With that, Pergina found another opening and whacked her student’s head again.

"Smack!"

"Master, you hit me again!"

Demi protested angrily, defending herself:

"I was just thinking! Just thinking!"

"Even thinking isn’t allowed!"

Pergina looked at her with disgust, then said all high and mighty:

"You’re so lovesick you’ve lost your damn mind. Master has serious doubts about you! During the dinner, I’ll be there the whole time to stop you from making an unforgivable mistake!"

"Ah!"

Demi’s tone was resistant. If Master was there, how could she let loose?

Pergina said irritably:

"Ah, what! That’s final! If you don’t agree, hand over the red key! Forget about the knockout outfit! And no booze either!"

"Don’t... don’t! I’ll do whatever you say!"

Demi quickly caved, clutching the red key tight.

"Hmph, don’t worry. As long as you keep your standards, Master won’t butt in too much."

"Thank you, Master."

Demi felt bitter inside and sadly went back to organizing ingredients.

Fate! Is this how you treat me?
