District 42-Chapter 340: Strategist
Casper knew already that Rurik and Freygar were ok. They were the Aesirs who suffered less harm in comparison with all the others.
The only damage that they got was on their psyche. However, that was something easy for them to overcome. They had armored minds, acquired after the harsh times that they needed to go through before they became Aesirs.
MMA wasn’t willing to show them to Casper. They were too busy helping to take care of everything. Their rehabilitation was to occupy themselves with all the work that they needed to get done on the support base.
Also, Casper was working with them on all those things and had direct contact with them both, so he didn’t need to see how they were doing at all.
MMA was more interested to show the two last Aesirs who were showing amazing progress as well. He had been struggling to keep them trying to get to their 100% as soon as possible those days, but even without his initiative, they were doing a good job.
"Ok, the one I am about to show to you now is still in a rough state. It’s difficult to stay in the same room as him without pitying him immediately. However, you will see that he is striving just as much as Canute or Ivar."
Casper was sure of who he was going to show him.
He didn’t talk as much with that Aesir as he talked with the others, but he was aware of his potential. If he didn’t have excellence in the things that he did, he wouldn’t be an Aesir, to begin with.
They got into another particular tent that was way more silent than Canute’s. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
It really gave the impression that, whatever you would see inside there, would have sort of a gloomy atmosphere.
However, Casper now had his guard raised. He was aware that MMA wasn’t kidding when he said that one month would be enough for the Aesirs to recover.
’Ari is the one inside that place. I am sure of it. He didn’t seem to be so bad back in our meeting, but he was poisoned, so most likely he is worst now if they couldn’t find a way to cure him. Anyway, I bet that he is working on something as well.’
The White warrior was the first one to give the initial step and approach the tent, opening its entrance.
MMA followed him silently, waiting to see his reaction.
As always, Casper widened his eyes and raised his brows. Ari sure was doing something impressive there.
They both entered the tent.
A bed was inside it, right in the middle. Around it, several machines and devices were helping Ari in many functions of his body that were already stopping to work.
The Aesir was laying on that bed. Not sitting, nor awake, just lying like a lifeless puppet.
That was what surprised Casper.
"I thought that..."
"Ah! I understand now. You don’t know the purpose of those glasses, do you?" MMA asked.
Casper glanced at Ari again, spotting the black glasses that he was wearing. They weren’t the usual sunglasses that he saw back in his world, but something with a more sophisticated and bigger look.
Just by looking at it, one would assume that they weren’t normal glasses, but Casper associated it with the other medical devices that were aiding him.
"I don’t know what they do, to be honest. Can you tell me?"
MMA nodded his head. Of course, he was going to explain to him without him asking anything.
"These glasses are developed to be used in our schools, to be honest. It helps in the immersion, so the kids can learn better. Hmm, you probably won’t like this information, but they are just offered in the schools of the Castle, naturally. Anyway, one can use it to study without even moving and spending much less time since the time passes slower while using it.
"What Ari is doing isn’t studying, exactly. But he is probably calculating something inside these glasses or planning, but in a more interactive and free way than using his debilitated body, got it?"
Casper snapped his fingers, understanding what he meant.
"Virtual reality, but for education."
"Yup, exactly."
The man nodded.
"And do you know what he is doing?" The soldier asked. He wasn’t expecting that Ari would notice them, so he focused the questions on MMA.
"Well, he is... he is reformulating an old plan of his... You know, Ari is addicted to calculating, particularly the time, and he is used to using explosives. He always got a bit frustrated because, in terms of power, he was always less strong than Ivar, Freygar, Rurik, or even Canute. He needed to explore more his aptitudes.
"It came a time when he realized that he couldn’t compete against dynamic fighters. You know, people who can just come to the battlefield with everything that they need and explore it while in battle. He was more of a tactical fighter, he needed strategy, positioning, and terrain advantage.
"That’s why he began to use his explosives cleverly, setting things up before he entered in battle. In the end, he came with a project where he would prepare... all the Castle, if possible. And he did it."
Casper turned slowly to the Aesir again, nodding his head in understanding.
"Yeah, he is really smart. This guy is something."
"Yes."
After reasoning for a while, the White warrior came up with another question that got him confused.
"Why didn’t he use his power right after the action started? He could subdue every single Frelsi from there, without hurting the citizens if he activated the explosives in the right spots. Anyway, if he did a scheme to position the explosives in a way that they would activate in a chain, then it is not so impressive." The soldier stroked his chin while thinking about all of that.
That was the part that MMA was the proudest about saying. It showed all the potential of Ari after all.
