District 42-Chapter 350: The Forger
Casper’s body shivered once he heard that familiar voice, for some reason. It seemed like someone really powerful was present in that room and his presence was somewhat pressuring the soldier.
He felt like it before sometimes. It wasn’t an imaginary feeling or something that people took out of movies or fake stories. Such a thing existed. There were people that, when strong and confident enough, could make their imposing aura get perceived by anyone close enough. Just their looks were sufficient to make anyone tremble.
The thing that most frightened Casper was that the man that talked to him had a joyful voice, which didn’t represent any threat or something. In truth, he didn’t feel like he was in danger. After all, Yanke never would put him into a situation that could kill him.
Even so, that overbearing pressure was making his legs tremble.
He slowly turned to see who was the person talking to him. Once he did it, he found him right away.
’Hmm... honestly, I expected someone taller... and maybe stronger... I think that it is a disappointment. Still frightening, though. How someone with such body constitution and easy-going looks could exert such pressure in the air?’
The man had a bald head and incredibly pale skin. He was very slim and was, at most, 166 centimeters tall, way shorter than Casper.
He didn’t look like someone intimidating at all. On the contrary, his expression was very happy and funny. He seemed the type of guy who would get along with anyone he wanted to.
Casper needed to look at that man for some time more once he finally realized who it was.
’Hey, wait... I remember this guy from somewhere. When it was? He looks so familiar that...’ Casper had the feeling that it had been long ago since he last saw that man.
He tried to recollect, but their encounter wasn’t a big deal to be remembered so easily. Also, it was in his early days in the Castle. A lot happened since then, so it would be very difficult for him to recognize him completely.
Luckily, there was someone there who studied a lot about Casper’s memories.
Yanke appeared out of nowhere, flying toward Casper.
At the same time that the soldier was very happy to see the little robot again, his confusion made him keep quiet and reasoning.
It had been several seconds that he was just staring at that man with a dumbfounded expression, but he seemed not to care about it and just stood in front of him obediently as if expecting Casper to say something first.
"Master, I am not sure if you remember him, but you met this man back in your first day inside the Castle. You were having a bath, and he entered the public bath and began to talk with you. Somehow, he knew your name, which left you confused. He addressed himself as..."
"Way... Wayland, wasn’t it?" Casper said, his eyes widening in surprise.
"Yup! Nice that you remembered, man!" Wayland offered a high-five, which was accepted by Casper right away.
The soldier nearly forgot, but his synergy with that man was awesome. He was by far the most sympathetic and cool person that he found inside that Castle.
"Man, I don’t believe that I could find you again, after all! When we had that conversation, I was sure that we would see each other soon, but a lot happened and..."
"Yeah, yeah. I know. I am aware of everything that happened to you, White warrior. But, hey, that’s okay. We met again at the right time. We were meant to find each other at this point."
Wayland began to walk into that huge office/laboratory. There were so many things inside that place that Casper wondered whether he was the only person or not who worked there.
’Well, aside from him, I can’t see anyone here. I guess that he is alone. Anyway, what kind of thing is Wayland doing here? Does he work to the Royal Family or something?’
"Hey, we are inside the Castle, right? How did you not get attacked in the raid?" Casper asked.
Wayland giggled.
"Those jerks wouldn’t find me even if they turned this Castle upside down. I can only be found for myself and for... well, I thought that nobody instead of me could do it, but this robot of yours seems to be an exception. By the way, good job building it. It’s quite impressive."
Casper accepted his compliment. He knew that Yanke was amazing.
"By the way, why did you bring me here, Yanke? What’s so important about meeting Wayland? I mean, it’s good to see him, but there are a lot of things going on in the Support base that should be my priority, right?"
The robot remained strong on his affirmation.
"It is important, Master."
"Why?"
"Because, right now, you are dealing with the Forger. The person that you wanted to meet a long time ago."
Casper stopped to talk right after he heard that statement. For a second, he could not accept what Yanke said about Wayland.
He looked back and forth to the robot and the slim man that was still walking in front of him.
"H-Hey, Wayland... Is it true? What Yanke just said is true? Are you the Forger?"
Casper didn’t know whether he was angry or happy upon seeing the man that he was searching for, for a long time until then.
The Forger was the one that created the masks, including that black mask that he was nearly obliged to wear. He was the source of the suffering of District 42, the very beginning of a war that was dragging for years and killing a lot of people.
However, Casper didn’t know about his true intentions. Maybe he was coerced by the King to do this kind of thing, maybe he didn’t know what kind of consequences his creation would cause.
The soldier got confused again and it made his head hurt a little bit.
"Yes, White warrior. Nice to mee ya! I am Wayland, known as The Forger by many. The only truthful god of this district." He got near that huge computer in the center of that place and activated it with a wave of his hand.
