Chapter 352: Math calculation

Casper didn’t have words to express himself once again. He just widened his eyes and his jaw dropped in the instant that he heard what Wayland said.

The soldier, for a while, didn’t know how to react, but the reaction came involuntarily afterward.

Suddenly, he felt his heart racing and his body began to sweat profusely. He didn’t notice before, but he was hot as if he just left a sauna. His skin was getting reddish.

Without realizing it, he clenched his fists as tightly as he could. His nails pierced through the skin of his palms and blood began to flow out of it.

Casper’s muscles were all tense. He seemed to be getting prepared for a war or something. His mind was getting blurrier every second that passed.

In order to stop those effects, Casper needed to bite his tongue as hard as he could. He felt the taste of blood spread across his mouth, but didn’t mind and continued to carve his teeth on his tongue’s skin.

He felt the agitated pulse of his heart on his head. It wasn’t a pleasant experience, it seemed like he had a strong headache or something, but it helped to keep him focused and awake.

Wayland got cautious once he saw Casper struggling like that.

Anybody who saw the White warrior on that state would think that he was about to snap, draw a gun, and shoot at every single thing that moved or breathed.

’Damn, I didn’t think that he would get so emotional like this. Maybe I will need to knock him down for a while... However, he seems to be striving not to snap. Is he really okay or...?’ Wayland wasn’t as familiar with drugs like other people that Casper knew.

In truth, he didn’t care much about the things of that world. He just wanted to improve his creations, follow orders, program, and do other things that he found pleasant to do.

That was his personality.

"Hey, Yanke, can you calm down your master, please? He is clearly going to try to rip off my head. I mean, look at him. He is like a bull right now! He isn’t even replying to my sarcastic comments! He is out of himself!"

Yanke, nonetheless, recognized that state easily. After all, a couple of weeks ago, he needed to deal with it together with Casper.

Now that he was connecting himself to Casper’s brain and analyzing how he was doing, he was certain about his guess.

"I am sorry for this, Wayland. Master usually isn’t like this. It’s hard to get him really pissed off."

"S-so what’s happening to that fella!?"

"He is struggling against an addiction right now. He needed to take a drug in order to do something important that he wouldn’t be able to do without consuming it. Of course, instant power has its consequences. What you are seeing now are the consequences that my Master accepted to go through to save people he loved."

Yanke explained, and at the same time tried to administrate some things inside Casper’s mind.

Every day that passed turned that function of Yanke easier. It was coming to a level where Yanke felt that he was directly united with Casper’s mind as if he was a segregated part of it.

Even the little robot couldn’t explain well his intelligence and potential, but he was aware of how powerful he was. Thankfully, he didn’t develop malice within his AI, which would prevent him to go to the dark side and begin to start a mess.

After some seconds, he was able to make his Master calm himself down.

"Oh gosh..." Casper needed to kneel on the ground. "Thank you, Yanke. That was one of the reasons why I wanted so much that you came back for me. When seeing that I would need to struggle against addiction, I was sure that you could help me to, at least, prevent going crazy every time with it."

"It’s my pleasure to serve you, Master."

Casper nodded to him, waiting for a while for his mind to settle down.

He, then, stood up. He was looking calmer at that moment, which relieved the Forger.

"Ok, Wayland. Let’s do it again. I won’t snap anymore, I guess." Casper gave a pause, breathing in deeply. "So, are you saying that you are the one that brought me to District 42?"

Wayland nodded, looking straight at Casper’s eyes. He wasn’t lying at all and wanted to show it to him. Yanke, too, couldn’t notice anything changing in his behavior that would imply that he was bluffing.

’Well, anyway, he doesn’t have many reasons to lie about such a thing here. He knows that this kind of information is something that could lead me to kill him. He doesn’t have any idea of how much I value my previous life or how much I hate this one. Depending on my inner feelings, he could have been in trouble with me.’

Casper gave another pause, closing his eyes. He wasn’t feeling anything coming, so for now, the side effects of Berserker wouldn’t kick in.

"Why did you do it?"

Wayland thought for a while about that matter.

However, instead of answering, he began to mentally type into Forge42, entering some archives.

’What is he doing right now?’ Casper got curious and approached it even more, even though that computer’s screen was wide. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"I called you because of that thing!" The Forger pointed to the screen, that was now displaying several numbers. It was not related to programming, but math calculations.

"It’s a really big calculation, I need to admit."

"Yes, and there is plenty more, some even longer than this one. I have been calculating it for a few years until now and... well, some months before you appeared here, I came to a solution for this problem that was on my mind for a good while."

"What does this calculation imply? It is referent to what kind of problem?"

"This calculation says who is the one that will win this war, and how District 42 will get after several decades in the future."
