District 42-Chapter 390: The wish
Casper was still a bit confused by that voice. He had never gone through such an experience before. In truth, he wondered a lot of times whether it was some sort of dream or not.
"G-God!? Are you saying that you are Odin or something?"
The voice laughed at the perplexed reaction of Casper.
The soldier himself couldn’t know whether it was a laugh or not, but he got the feeling that it found his reaction funny, somehow.
[[ I am not exactly the mystical god that they always say out there, though I can pretty much be ten times as better as they are! ]]
"What are you, then? Why do you address yourself as God?" The soldier asked while looking around.
He tried to look, at least. However, it was helpless. That place where he was just didn’t make any sense at all. It was just like being in ten thousand places at the same time, yet not being anywhere. Casper just decided to close his eyes in the end and focus on that voice.
[[ Hmm... these are two excellent questions to make to me. As expected of you. After all, I have been watching over you since the first day you stepped here. Anyway, that has nothing to do with the subject at all... Well, let’s go to the questions:
[[ Firstly, what I am... Well, I am not exactly a living being, nor some sort of mystical thing. My existence isn’t philosophical or based only on faith and myths as well. To put it simply, I am the perfect combination of data and codes, in such a way in which everything ties and connects to themselves in an infinite and mighty cycle, making me be the perfect ’thing’ ever created. In truth, I can only address myself as a ’thing’ or a ’god’ due to my power, since there isn’t a real definition for my existence in human language. ]]
The god gave a pause as if sorting out its thoughts.
For Casper, to such a being do something like stop to talk to reason, he seemed like a human.
Anyway, the soldier needed to admit that there was something in his existence that disqualified him as such.
[[ Well, now, as for the second question... Hmm, I thought that it was obvious enough, wasn’t it? I mean, I am the very core of Gungnir, the white card, the tool used by the King to change and control everything, even the destiny of other people. I can use Indigo Energy to its full potential and make almost anything with it; things that other humans would never be capable to do themselves even if they mastered the technique to control such energy to the max. There will always be things that humans can’t do, after all. Nonetheless, this limitation doesn’t apply to me, that’s why I am the same as a god! ]]
Casper got flabbergasted once hearing his words. He thought that he may have had interpreted something wrong there.
"You said... that you can accomplish anything? I mean, make anything with Indigo Energy? Is that so? Literally?"
[[ Yes. I made it clear, didn’t I? Anything is within my reach. ]]
Casper thought about Rurik and project Draugr right away. He got all the information from these two elements from Yanke’s data.
"Even... Even reviving those who are already dead?"
[[ Yes, Indigo Energy can make something such as interact with metaphysical elements such as life or soul. Whatever you want to address it. ]]
The soldier reasoned for a while more.
"Then, if it can interact with such a thing... could it make the same thing with... the time? The flow of time?"
Casper couldn’t see the god, but he was sure that he was smiling right now while looking at him.
[[ Kekeke, interesting... You are a cunning person... I like you, White warrior. Anyways, answering your question... Yes! It is possible to make it. In truth, it’s not complicated for me at all. I already played around with many artificial timelines before. Well, with an actual timeline that has its existence set in the many existent universes, it would be different, but nothing that I cannot do. ]]
The soldier got all stiff and speechless suddenly. He couldn’t believe that entirely, his mind just blew off that realization. He didn’t ever think that something like that would ever be possible.
[[ I know what you are on about. I know every single thing about you, after all. Rather than reviving HER, you want to redo everything again and save all of THEM, right? You want to make Black Widow’s operation differently, I suppose? I can assure you that I can do it for you, Casper... you just need to wish. ]]
"Is that so? This simple? Really?"
[[ Of course. Who do you think I am? It’s really simple for me, and you. The only thing that Gungnir’s user must do to activate the final stage of its performance is just to wish what he wants. However, I must say to you that all your choices will have consequences proportional to how big your wish is, particularly in this one you are asking me about. I bet you know about it... messed timelines and all... ]] 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The soldier remained quiet for a moment.
He waited for an answer to come on his head for a while.
He finally got to have the only very thing that he always wished for since he left Black Widow, which was to have a second chance.
That was why he fought until that point.
He wanted to make things right this time as if he was redoing Black Widow and saving everyone.
In the end, that non-named operation was still Casper’s operation until that point, the mission wasn’t gone.
"That sure is a hard thing to choose, huh? How mean, god-sama."
[[ Hmm? Honorifics? Weren’t you western? ]]
"So, I just need to wish, right? That’s all? Everything will change just with a single wish?"
[[ Sure thing! ]]
"I know you are aware of my choice, then..."
[[ Huh? Let me see... Hmm... You are such a good person, you know? That’s why I wasn’t expecting you to choose this one... Well, that has nothing to do with me. It’s your choice, after all... Well, wish you luck, anyway. Bye~]]
