District 42-Chapter 398: Lost hope
As the group retrieved back, Rurik gave a step forward.
They tried their best to unite their powers to defeat MMA, but it seemed to be impossible, even though they were even sacrificing their own bodies and all their resources to do such a thing.
While they were hurt and exhausted, MMA didn’t have any deep wounds and he seemed to have energy enough to run one or two marathons. In truth, that man seemed to have infinite energy. His attacks didn’t slow down at all, nor his fast thought process, much less his movements across the battlefield.
Differently from the Aesirs and Vanirs fighting against him, MMA was not human, so he was not bound to the limits of a human.
It was true that the group had different abilities that made them stand out from the average man, but they weren’t complete monsters, differently from MMA.
’That’s our last chance to hurt this guy... no, to definitely defeat him! We need to do it in one go, or else we won’t have any other strategy. If this plan fails, then we are gone...’ Casper tried to think about another way to utilize the strength of his comrades to stop MMA, but it seemed to be just impossible to come up with something more.
They used their strong points and covered each other’s weaknesses just like a team that had fought beside each other for a long time. They did their very best and achieved good results.
However, the fact was that their very best wasn’t enough to defeat MMA. Good results weren’t sufficient... Excellent results were needed.
The strength of all those strong warriors gathered together wasn’t even comparable with MMA’s.
Casper looked with resolute eyes towards that powerful cyborg. He was gambling everything on that single movement. That man sure knew what they were going to do and his face was just as determined.
"Raul, Ivar, you two know what to do! While we prepare things here, go ahead and keep him busy no matter what!" Casper shouted.
Of course, MMA wouldn’t stay still and wait for what they were planning. He would fight in order to prevent them from doing anything dangerous for him.
That’s why the soldier needed two of his most powerful attackers to hold him.
Ivar and Raul were the best infighters of the group and had the potential to hold MMA in close combat. Ivar was at his limits, and Raul didn’t have too much energy to spare, but Casper was confident that they would still give him enough time.
Those two advanced towards MMA at the same time as the cyborg tried to reach Rurik. They began to exchange blows with him, which seemed nearly impossible by now, due to MMA’s current strength and speed. Anyway, just as Casper predicted, they could hold him in the same place, at least.
"Ok, the rest is allowed to follow accordingly. You know exactly what to do!"
The group began to attack Rurik all of a sudden as the man just raised both arms in a fighting stance and waited patiently for the damage.
Casper was accumulating energy on his shield, so he used it to deliver an overwhelmingly powerful attack right off the bat.
Ari’s explosives were effective when making Rurik’s gloves absorb damage. Its impact and area of effect were concentrated. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Like in their first battle, Leo began to slaughter him, just caring to not knock him back and get in the way of the rest of the group. Camilla also helped him in giving the doctor a good beating.
Tein was undoubtedly the one who was dealing more damage than everyone. His destructive explosions of fire were so powerful that the others couldn’t match. He was the one making Rurik suffer the most.
Canute and Loki just helped Ivar and Raul to fight against MMA since their destructive power wasn’t as high as the others.
Like this, the group could cause in a short span a lot of damage to Rurik’s body. His gloves were shining brighter than in Leo’s fight. The Immortal Aesir knew that they were in an overclock right now. If he didn’t act as fast as possible, they would just explode in his hands due to that quantity of damage absorbed.
Rurik only took the time to heal himself, then dashed towards MMA.
Seeing that the preparations were done, Ivar and Raul backed away.
Canute made a portal in front of Rurik that made him appear behind the Boss, leaving no openings for him to dodge the attack.
Their hopes were high for that attack.
Everyone’s strength was gathered in just one blow that would decide the fate of that district. Their final action should... no, it was a must to have the best outcome possible.
Rurik was charging his punch with his weight shifted on his rear leg.
He looked deeply at MMA’s back. Throughout his career, everyone always looked at his back. He was someone they aspired to. The greatest leader of all time. Someone who would give his body and soul for the district entirely.
he was the best man alive... that didn’t have his freedom. He was obliged to make such decisions. He didn’t have will, at all. He was the most solid pillar of the district regarding loyalty, devotion, and power. However, he was the reflection of its greatest weakness as well.
At that moment, everyone felt the weight of that blow. Everyone felt sorry for what would happen.
’Goodbye... the greatest. Goodbye... leader!’
That was the next step of a new era... or so they thought before their last hope was shattered in front of them.
"Second Stance, final form," MMA uttered in a pained voice as if he himself didn’t want to do that.
The man swiftly turned on his heels at the same moment as Rurik launched his ultimate attack.
He stretched his hand...
"I am sorry, everyone." He muttered.
Then, an explosion of blinding red light covered most parts of that region, sending strong shockwaves in the air and burning the skin of the ones who were too near.
