"Detective Carlow" A voice called out, the door leading into an office room creaked open.

And a young man who was seen putting on an half-top hat walked in with a smile, draped in black trench coat.

He had a file, his black hair curled and his green eyes glistened in the light.

Before him, a middle-aged figure laid-back back on his seat, a cigarette dangled on his lips as he puffed smokes from his nose. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

He nods with a smile, "Good job Allen, if you continue like this, you may be promoted to a first investigation officer any time soon" He said.

Allen chuckled, "That would be my honor Sir Detective, here are the files" He gestured with his hand stretched forward.

Detective Carlow nonchalantly received the file, placing it on the table as he went through them.

"A twin, Aiko and Eiko, Nastec and Gustavo, a group of gamblers, all Fallen Regulators" He sighed, "Nastec is missing while the twin and Gustavo are dead, is that correct?" Detective Carlow asked.

He raised his head, staring at Allen who responded with a curt nod.

Detective Carlow continued "They were last seen together while going up from a gambling house right?" He asked.

"Yes sir" Allen answered, "From the reports I had received, they lost more than $2,000 from the gambling house and had left there unhappy"

"But that shouldn’t have warranted Nastec to kill his friends right?" Allen was in charge of the deep investigation regarding the sudden murder case.

The news of last night incident was reported to the Evernight Police Command and an investigation was currently ongoing.

Allen, a third investigation officer of the Evernight Police Command and a Rank 2 Fallen Regulator was ordered by Detective Carlow to report their findings to him.

After all, Detective Carlow, a Rank 3 Fallen Regulator was in charge of this murder case.

Detective Carlow sighed, "This is a mad world Allen, there are many things that simply don’t make sense but they do happen"

"But I must agree with you, losing a gamble isn’t enough reason to murder your friends"

"What else were you able to gather?" Detective Carlow asked.

Allen lingered for a moment, "We conducted an autopsy on the bodies of the victims, we discovered something" Allen paused.

Detective Carlow raised an eyebrow, "What did you discover?" He asked.

Allen breathed in deeply, "The primary Fallen Runes of the victims were gone" He explained.

Detective Carlow widened his eyes in shock "A theft? How is that...." He was going to dismiss Allen when he suddenly recalled a secret order.

He sighed deeply, "It seems this is a more complicated case that I had imagined, go and summon your squad" Detective Carlow ordered.

He rose up from his seat, he exhaled smoke from his nose, "Bu...but Sir Detective, what about you?" Allen asked.

Detective Carlow chuckled, "I’ll be paying the Sheriff a visit, I can’t make a move without seeking the approval from my superiors"

"Who we might be up against is far deadly than anything you could ever imagine" He smiled.

Crystal had not only stolen the Misfit Fallen Rune of Nastec last night but she had also parasitized him.

Turning him into her avatar.

She knew her avatar would be hunted by the Evernight Police Command, his bank accounts closed and assets seized.

So she hurried, that night she withdrew every single money in Nastec bank accounts.

And she completely took control of his body, as her avatar, Crystal could choose between letting him keep his identity and face.

Or completely erasing him and his gender, transforming his body into hers.

She did the latter once she was done extracting everything Nastec could ever own.

Now this body possesses Nastec’s Fallen Rune and his friends Fallen Runes whom she had killed and stolen from.

She visited a 5-star hotel.

Dressed in jet-black suit and green knotted tie, she adjusted her glasses, she looked stunning in her corporate wears.

Slowly approaching the receptionist, she smiled gracefully "Good morning" She greeted.

The receptionist, a young lady reciprocated with a beautiful smile "Good morning ma’am, welcome to Golden Age Hotel"

"Please what may we offer you?" The receptionist asked.

Crystal giggled, "I’m here to pay Lenny Night a courtesy visit, I was directed to this graceful hotel" She answered.

The receptionist nods, "One minute ma’am" She spoke, quietly operating her iPad.

She went through the records of clients currently present in the hotel.

She smiles, "Yes" She said, "Mr. Night is currently in his room, do you have a message for him or should I give him a call?" She asked.

Crystal shook her head, "There’s no need for that, I only want to confirm if he’s here" She said.

The receptionist was confused a bit, Crystal stepped forward, "Please can you tell me what’s his room number?" She asked.

But before the receptionist could even complete her statement, Crystal had touched her.

Her Fallen Rune was not stolen because she was mundane.

But she was parasitized by Crystal.

She became an avatar under Crystal’s absolutely control.

"Room 407" the receptionist answered, her eyes void of life, Crystal sighed, she patted her on the shoulder.

"I’m sorry" Crystal whispered softly, "Once an entity becomes my avatar, they are dead, soulless since i devoured their souls in the process of my parasitizing"

"After all" Her lips twitched, "I’ll give you a befitting death" She sighed.

With no one to stop her, she ventured up to the last floor where her target currently rests.

"I should be able to purchase a pair of grade 3 Fallen Relics" He chuckled.

Behind him, Corinthian appeared, his eyes flickered with uncertainty.

He noticed something strange.

Lenny’s smile faltered the moment his gaze fell upon Corinthian, "What is it?" Lenny asked.

"She’s coming" Corinthian frowned, "The bitch is coming"
