Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 6: A little Lecture on Classes
Chapter 6 - A little Lecture on Classes
"You little—"
"Marked ones, welcome to Wielder's Center!"
The firm voice of the man standing on a makeshift podium was enough to dispel whatever tension was building up in the room.
They all knew that with him in the room they could not afford to do anything stupid.
The man in front of them was a curse bearer after all.
The blue haired boy turned to face the podium, but not without shooting Ark a nasty glare.
Everyone else turned their attention to the man as well.
He was in a well ironed navy blue suit coupled with a blue tie. His hair was neatly combed backwards and he had a friendly smile on his face as he addressed the marked teenagers.
"Like I said, I want to welcome all of you to the wielder's center. You, the future curse bearers of our nation hold our future in your hands."
"You should know the general rules of the wielder's center by now. No discrimination, no bullying, no violence and no sneaking into unauthorised areas. Remember that whatever you do here will affect your chances of getting picked by a squadron. So be smart."
The man let his words settle in before continuing.
"Let's all move to the conference center."
The crowd followed the man to the next room, during that time Ark managed to distance himself from the blue boy while taking note of his surroundings.
The center was really impressive.
The roof was unnecessarily high and designed with an array of twisting patterns, there were windows everywhere and the tiles used on the floor looked like pure marble.
They soon entered the conference center where they were all made to sit.
The real briefing began after.
All the teenagers were sitting in comfortable chairs, waiting for the briefing to begin when an old man with greying hair and bottle thick spectacles walked into the room.
He gave the room one long stare, hissed and then waved at some of the guards.
Ark felt it would be a short briefing but when the guards came back into the room with a chair he knew they were in for a long lecture.
The room was filled in a litany of annoyed groans but the man silenced them with a single finger.
"Three years ago..."
The man had a lot of stamina for his age, even while seated it was quite a feat to give a four hour lecture without standing up once!
Ark found himself exhausted from the sheer amount of knowledge he was receiving, a lot of it was general knowledge while some were relatively new.
The old man adjusted his glasses.
"Are you tired?"
"Yes!!!"
The hall echoed unanimously, making the professor smile. The man who had brought them here earlier laughed as well.
The professor adjusted his glasses.
"Should we call it a day?"
"Yes!!!!"
Someone even got to his feet while screaming yes and flailing his arms by his sides.
"Very well... after this last part."
A wave of groans filled the room once more but the professor had already continued.
"When you awaken you will be assigned one of six classes by the Archive."
The archive was hard to describe, it was like a collection of information curse bearers needed to combat the apocalypse and its beasts.
It had not been created by humanity but rather was somehow like a gift given to them by the Archons.
Archons was in plural since they all assumed since there was one of them there was bound to be more... Some still referred to them as gods but the generally acceptable name was archon.
The Archive was said to appear in front of a marked individual that had awakened in form of a screen which displayed their stats, as well as their class and their Curse.
The man continued...
"We have the Knight Class. Knights are very capable individuals when it comes to physical confrontations, when face to face with powerful beasts with high defensive abilities knights are often employed to cut through their thick protections with brute force."
Ark paid close attention to this part of the lecture.
Archers were skilled when it came to long ranged attacks, their skill with the bow was uncanny and sometimes it said that they can even manifest weapons other than bows.
Craftsmen were experts when it came to creating artifacts, the class was often accompanied with powerful curses that made them capable of crafting deadly weapons.
They were a very important part of society today with the ever increasing demand for weapons.
Mages could call upon their spiritual essence to affect the world around them. Some were elementals who could manipulate lighting, wind, fire and the likes.
Some were more different, being capable of controlling sound and force.
As for the healer class. The importance of this class could not be overemphasised, they are the rarest class amongst them all and as such were very valuable.
Finally, Beast masters as the name suggested could tame mythical beasts and use them in battles, some even went as far as taming apocalypse beasts.
Although they each had their unique caveats, their curses generally revolved around beasts.
The old man finally rose to his feet, causing a wave of applause to spread through the hall.
They were not clapping because they enjoyed the lecture... They were clapping because the four hour lecture was finally over.
Just as the old man left the room, multiple members of the staff entered into the hall and gave the students a tour of the facility.
They went by the Center's well equipped gym, they visited the cafeteria, stopped by the hall where the trial would take place as well as a few other areas.
By the time they were finally done, it was already evening.
The staff then proceeded to direct the students to the dormitories, the place they would be spending the next few days.
Little by little the number of students dwindled as they were each assigned to a room of their own.
Ark was the last person in his group, he was trailing behind a woman who explained a few things about the dormitories to him.
They finally arrive in front of a wooden door. The woman stopped in front of it, brought out a key and opened the room.
"This will be your room," She said with a smile.
She must have been the only person that had treated him cordially since he got here... that is, excluding the rich girl.
"Thank you."
She nodded.
"Dinner will be ready in an hour, try not to be late if you want the good stuff."
She then left him to his room.
There was one simple word Ark could use to describe the room... Amazing!
Just the space alone was bigger than his living room. The entire aesthetic of the room was grey and white but it was beautifully designed.
There was a large comfy bed at the side of the room, a desk with a study lamp, a small couch as well as air conditioning.
Ark walked into the room and jumped straight into the bed.
The bed was actually bouncy, while the bed he had at home was as hard as a rock!
He allowed himself to enjoy the moment and would have drifted asleep...
But just before the sweet embrace of sleep could encompass him, there was a sudden knock on the door.
