Divine Luck: SSS-Rank Battle Maid Harem-Chapter 573: Need To
Lexi raised an eyebrow when Zach suddenly started smiling creepily and giggling but didn't bother asking about it. Instead, she looked around to take in the aftermath of the battle against the Hydra. She had expected devastation and ruin, but it wasn't as bad as she had thought it would be.
Ciel was completely ruined, and it would probably take years to rebuild. But she thought the Hydra would have bathed the East in fire and smoke. However, it barely looked like the east had been touched by fire. It looked more like the Hydra had trampled on all the houses and shook the earth until the buildings around it crumpled.
A section of the city was complete smithereens, however, so Lexi could figure out that was where the main fight had taken place. But there was no body there. A body as large as the one she had seen in the Labyrinth would not disappear that quickly. It would take weeks for people to move or dismantle it.
She recalled what the First Child had done.
"Zach…" She said with a low voice. "Where is the Hydra?"
Zach looked away from the air in front of him and turned to Lexi with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh, no idea."
"What…?"
"Yup. We couldn't kill her. After a bit, she took off and none of us could stop her."
Lexi grabbed Zach by the shoulders.
"Then what are we doing here?! We need to go!" She shouted and pushed Zach forward. Zach did his best to resist, but his body was far too weak, so he just stumbled forward until he fell. Fortunately, Yanael caught him before he hit the ground. She glared at Lexi.
"S-sorry," Lexi awkwardly looked away and hid her hands behind her back. She wasn't expecting Zach to be so weak that he couldn't even walk on his own.
"Where do we need to go?" Zach asked. "Do you perhaps know where the Hydra went?"
"What? Don't we need to protect the Empire or something?" She asked worriedly.
Zach rolled his eyes.
"Goodness, Lexi, get with the times. History is a lie, the Hydra isn't all bad, and we don't need to worry about her for now–emphasis on we. I still need to worry about her. By the way it's looking, the God of Nature, the Children, or someone else spread lies following the Hydra being sealed in an attempt to kill or provoke the Hydra when she got out."
"What…?"
"Uhh…I am too tired to explain in detail. Ya—Mandra, do you mind?" Yanael looked like she would have minded, so Zach changed his mind to someone who was there but was better at concealing their feelings about Lexi accidentally toppling him.
"Of course, Master."
While Mandra started explaining what had happened after Lexi withdrew from the Hydra, Oria joined their group. She had been waiting for Zach to return from the Labyrinth nearby.
Zach glanced around to confirm that she was alone.
"Where are the others?" He asked bluntly without so much as greeting her properly. Oria didn't mind.
"They went ahead to the capital."
"Everyone?"
Oria nodded.
Zach heaved a sigh of relief. He did not feel like dealing with his family right now, or anyone else for that matter. He wanted to find a place to sleep for a few years.
"You…need to go to the capital, too, Zach," Oria awkwardly informed him.
His eyes shot wide open as he looked at her with a look of betrayal.
"Why?"
"I doubt anyone would disagree if it's said that you did the most to stop the Hydra. Whether it's for the celebrations or the aftermath of everything, you need to be there, Zach. And since everyone, civilian and soldier, evacuated to the central region, and the alliance talks between he Sesha and the Empire will be held in the capital, the rest is going to happen there, too."
Zach deflated, and his expression sank. It was troublesome.
"Do I really need to go?" He asked after a little while.
Oria Villesand was the daughter and heir of a prestigious marquisate. She had been raised with nobility in the air and etiquette and manners for breakfast. The right and proper thing for Zach to do would be to join the festivities and the discussions about what was going to happen to the East.

However, she had also spent several harsh weeks on the battlefront. She was also tired.
If it hadn't been for Yan, she would have also been too tired to walk. But now, she was already starting to miss Yan. She was going to the capital regardless of the business side of everything.
She understood Zach's reluctance. It also wasn't just because he was tired and not interested in the troublesome matters. He clearly didn't want to see his family right now.
She couldn't blame him. She didn't know everything that had happened, but she knew how the Evandiels left him behind to carry the traitor label on his own when they disappeared and opened up the East to the Sesha invasion.
Then, there was the brief conversation between Yan and Nymur Evandiel after the fight.
"Yes," She eventually answered. When Zach's expression dropped, she continued.
"But I'm spent after the war, so if you were to go your own way, I would be powerless to stop you," She added with a helpless shrug, giving Zach an out.
"Won't you get in trouble still?" He asked.
"It's not impossible. But you're the one who stopped the Hydra from destroying the world. Who am I to dare even think about stopping you?"
"The Hydra wasn't going to destroy the world either way."
"I know that. The scaredy cats in the capital don't."
"You make a good point." Zach nodded his finger at her with a sneaky smile.
"Alright, you've convinced me. I'll follow you to the capital."
Oria's eyes widened. Hadn't she been trying to convince him that he didn't need to?
"As you wish. I doubt there are any carriages in these ruins, but we should find something a day or two from here unless the others took everything."
Zach breathed out another sigh. He was too tired to walk and in too much of a mess to use his barriers to glide through the air. Yanael picked him up.
"By the way, Oria."
"Yes?"
"What does 'skinless' mean?"
"..."
"Oria?"
