Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me-Chapter 12: Selfish
’My biggest flaw is having too much money???’
’Heh... So Tristan Grayson has already decided I’m the one behind this.’
She let out a self-deprecating laugh and said coldly, "Fine! Since Young Master Grayson has said as much, wouldn’t I be disappointing him if I didn’t name a price?"
"Miss Summers, think carefully about how much money it will take for you to make a clean break with the Young Master and never have anything to do with him again!" Sheldon Rhodes didn’t seem at all surprised by her words.
’A clean break? Never have anything to do with him again?’
’She’d be thrilled to make a clean break with Tristan Grayson even if he didn’t give her a single cent.’
’Tristan Grayson, do you really think everyone only loves you for your money?’
"Tell Young Master Grayson that if he doesn’t want our relationship exposed, he’d better come see me at eight tonight!"
Sheldon Rhodes’s brow furrowed. "I will pass the message on to Young Master Grayson."
Meanwhile, after seeing off Aiden Avery, Tristan Grayson received the message from Sheldon Rhodes.
’Eight o’clock?’ He glanced at his watch, his expression turning exceptionally grim. ’It was already almost seven. That woman was full of tricks.’
He returned to the hospital room and looked at Maggie Monroe, who was still asleep in bed. He leaned down, kissed her on the forehead, pulled the blanket up a little higher for her, and then turned to leave.
Just then, Maggie Monroe’s eyes fluttered open. She reached out and grabbed his arm. "Don’t go!"
Tristan Grayson gave a helpless smile and turned back to ruffle her hair. "Be good. Something important came up at the company that I need to take care of. You get some rest, and I’ll be back to stay with you later."
Maggie Monroe shook her head, refusing. "Don’t go. I’m scared." ’What could possibly be so important at the company this late? He must be going to see that woman.’
"Come on, be good. I really need to go take care of this. How about I call Lily Shaw to come keep you company?"
"No, I don’t want Lily Shaw. I just want you to stay with me."
"I’ll come right back to you as soon as I’m done." Tristan Grayson frowned, a hint of displeasure in his voice. ’He didn’t want to leave either, but he had to deal with that woman.’
Maggie Monroe’s eyes welled with tears as she choked out, "No, Tristan, please don’t leave me. I’ll be really scared."
Seeing Maggie Monroe like this, Tristan Grayson felt an indescribable pang in his heart. He had no choice but to compromise. "Alright, I won’t go. I’ll stay with you!" ’As for that other woman, he figured she couldn’t stir up too much trouble in one night.’
Having made up his mind, Tristan Grayson sat down on the edge of the bed with Maggie Monroe.
Seeing that Tristan wasn’t leaving, Maggie Monroe threw herself into his arms, laughing through her tears. "Tristan, I knew it! I knew I’m the most important person to you!"
"You are. So, Maggie, for my sake, you have to get better!"
"For you, Tristan, I’ll try my best to live." Maggie Monroe started crying even harder. ’She really couldn’t bear to part with Tristan. Even knowing her days were numbered, she didn’t want him to be with any other woman. She was just that selfish.’
After her conversation with Sheldon Rhodes, Mika Summers got busy tidying up her home and cooking.
As far as she was concerned, this would be Tristan Grayson’s first official visit to her home.
So she prepared a full table of food and waited for Tristan Grayson to arrive.
But she waited for nearly two hours, and Tristan Grayson never came.
He didn’t even call.
Her heart once again shattered into a million pieces.
Looking at the table full of food, she gave a bitter, self-mocking smile.
’How ridiculous I am. To think he would actually come.’
