Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Hard of Hearing

Amelia Avery kicked out at them. "If I ever see you bullying Tiana again, I’ll give you a beating every single time!"

"Amelia Avery, I’m going to take you down!"

The three women went berserk, jumping to their feet and throwing themselves at Amelia Avery.

Off to the side, Tiana was so scared she was trembling uncontrollably. Her face grew deathly pale, and cold sweat beaded on her forehead.

’I have to go help Amelia! But no matter how much I want to, my feet won’t move. I hate myself! I hate that I’m just standing here, watching as those three women gang up on her.’

Just as she saw the three women pin Amelia to the ground, a figure blurred past. It was a tall man, who grabbed the women on top of Amelia and tossed them aside, one by one.

The sound of splintering tables and chairs filled the air, along with the women’s cries of pain.

After tossing the women aside, Leo Joyce anxiously pulled Amelia Avery to her feet. He roared, a mix of anger and frustration in his voice, "You impossible girl! If you’re going to pick a fight, why didn’t you call me?!"

"Since when do I, Amelia Avery, need to inform you when I want to beat someone up?" Amelia stood and impatiently shrugged his hand away.

"I meant you could tell me who you want to beat up, and I’ll do it for you."

Amelia Avery scoffed and pointed sharply at the three women on the floor. "Fine. I’m telling you now. I want to beat up those three. Go on, do it for me."

Leo Joyce had always indulged Amelia Avery’s every whim, and this time was no exception—even if he made it a rule never to hit women.

Leo Joyce’s eyes turned icy. "You three," he said in a frigid tone. "Get over here. Now."

The three women’s faces paled. Amelia Avery wanted Young Master Joyce to hit them; how could they possibly dare to approach him?

"Are you three deaf or just ignoring him? Young Master Joyce told you to get over here, so get over here!" Leo Joyce’s lackey, Quinn Clayton, sneered with his arms crossed.

"If you’re going to do it, then do it. Enough with the pointless chatter. Leo Joyce, this is pathetic!" Amelia was in no mood for theatrics. She spoke with disdain and walked over to Tiana.

Leo Joyce’s expression darkened, his usual patience completely gone. He strode forward and landed two hard slaps across the women’s faces.

Hearing the resounding slaps behind her, Amelia arched a delicate eyebrow. She turned, blinking innocently. "Young Master Joyce, my hearing isn’t so good. I couldn’t quite make that out."

Leo Joyce couldn’t care less that the three women were now crying. He raised his hand and slapped them twice more.

As long as his woman was happy, he wouldn’t hesitate to beat them to death.

"Ah, that’s better. Heard it loud and clear this time. Though, you’re still going a little easy on them."

The hand Leo Joyce had been using was starting to go numb. He rubbed it with his other hand, raising an eyebrow. "So? More?"

Amelia Avery pulled Tiana into an embrace and sneered, "Let’s spare them for now. However... I don’t think Crimson Blossom has room for such ’big shots’ anymore."

"Not a problem. I’ll call the headmaster right now and get those three kicked out of Crimson Blossom."

Pleased with his response, Amelia Avery tilted her head, pondering for a moment before adding, "And I think Tridell might be too small for them, too..."

"Amelia Avery, you bitch! We never did anything to you!" Being expelled from Crimson Blossom was enough to make them hate her guts; now she wanted to drive them out of Tridell entirely.

This time, Leo Joyce didn’t hesitate. He slapped them again. "Say one more word, and I’ll make sure you can’t survive anywhere in Valerim!"

A violent shudder ran through the women at Young Master Joyce’s words.

Then, sobbing, they turned and fled.

But not before shooting one last, vicious glare at Amelia Avery and Tiana Grayson.

Having watched the entire spectacle unfold, Quinn Clayton clapped with exaggerated enthusiasm. "Young Master Joyce, that might be the most alpha thing I’ve ever seen you do!"

Though it was clearly meant as a compliment, it sounded like a jab to Leo Joyce. He sneered, raising an eyebrow. "Are you implying I wasn’t alpha before?"

"No, no, no! That’s not what I meant at all! What I mean is..."

Just as Quinn Clayton was trying to explain himself, Amelia suddenly cried out, "Tiana, what’s wrong?"
