Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me-Chapter 149: Making Trouble
What Maggie Monroe didn’t know was that she wasn’t the only one who was afraid. He was terrified, too—constantly terrified that she might never wake up, that she would simply vanish from his life.
Over the years, he had grown accustomed to having Maggie Monroe around...
Without Maggie Monroe, his own life would feel adrift...
He turned away in anguish, suppressing all the emotion in his eyes. In a hoarse voice, he said slowly, "Go on and get some sleep. I’ll wake you in the morning."
"Tristan, you’d better not be lying to me this time."
"I won’t..."
「Tridell」
Mika Summers hadn’t seen Tristan in the three days since. Her mother-in-law had told her that he was away on a business trip and wouldn’t be coming to the hospital for a while.
Even though she knew he was away and wouldn’t be back, she couldn’t help but hope that he might suddenly show up in the middle of the night.
Tonight was no different. She woke again in the dead of night and reached for the other side of the bed, only to find it empty. A wave of disappointment washed over her, followed by a bitter smile. Over the past few days, she had grown completely used to falling asleep with him by her side. Suddenly, without him, without his embrace, she was struggling with insomnia. She’d lie awake for hours, and even when she did manage to drift off, she would jolt awake and reach for him...
’I’m so pathetic,’ she thought. ’Tristan’s so busy with work. How could he possibly be with me every single day...’
As her thoughts began to drift, the door to her room suddenly let out a "CREAK..." followed by the soft sound of it bumping shut.
Startled, she snapped out of her daze and quickly looked up. It was Tiana, tiptoeing carefully toward her bed.
"Tiana, what are you doing here?"
Tiana pouted and whispered dejectedly, "Sister-in-law, I can’t sleep by myself. I want to sleep with you tonight."
"Okay..." Mika smiled and nodded, lifting the covers for Tiana to get in.
Tiana gave a sweet smile, climbed into bed, and lay down beside her. She tilted her head to look at Mika and said, "Sister-in-law, I’m being discharged tomorrow."
"Aren’t you going to rest a few more days? You’re being discharged so soon?"
Tiana’s voice was tinged with resignation and sadness. "Honestly, I don’t want to leave. I feel like I have more freedom in the hospital than I do outside..." ’Once I’m out, it’s just school and staying home at the Grayson estate. But these last few days in the hospital, Mom and Dad only came to eat with me and my sister-in-law. The rest of the time, I was free.’
Mika Summers gave a soft laugh, finding the idea strange. "Tiana, what are you talking about? What’s so great about being in a hospital?"
"I like it here. I have you to talk to."
"Tiana, you’re really something else. Well, how about this? I’ll get discharged with you tomorrow." ’Unlike Tiana, I can’t wait to get out of this cold, sterile hospital.’
"You can?"
"I can. I could have been discharged a while ago, actually."
"That’s wonderful!" Tiana exclaimed, hugging her tightly in excitement.
Mika gave a wry, helpless smile. ’Tiana really is just like a child. It makes your heart ache for her...’
The next day, when Mae Lynch arrived and saw her and Tiana lying in the same bed, chatting and laughing, she was instantly displeased. "Tiana, what is the meaning of this? Why are you over here so early in the morning, disturbing your sister-in-law’s rest?" ’Mika is the most important person in this family right now. She’s carrying my precious grandchild.’
"Mom, I was just so bored all by myself," Tiana mumbled dejectedly.
"That’s no excuse. Your sister-in-law needs her rest right now. Aren’t you just causing a disturbance by being here?" As she spoke, Mae Lynch strode forward and pulled Tiana off the bed.
