Chapter 935: Chapter 680: Good Friends Flying Side by Side (Part 2)

"Haha, don’t even mention a minute," Jiang Nian said. "Even if you add yourself, half an hour won’t be a problem."

"You’re blowing smoke." Qianqian said.

As the words fell, the balcony suddenly fell silent. The night wind whistled by, and they could hear each other’s breathing.

After a few seconds, she asked again.

"Really?"

"Why don’t you try it and see."

"Do I look like a fool?" Qianqian gave him a sideways glance, then turned her head and walked towards the living room. "I’m going to shower too."

Jiang Nian didn’t mind much and continued sipping his Sprite under the night sky.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps returning. He couldn’t help but turn his head for a look, and there was Qianqian standing.

"What’s up?"

Qianqian stood a few steps away from him, hands tucked behind her back, her face slightly conflicted, and asked.

"Are you confident about the mock exam?"

"That depends on what level of confidence. It’s a bit iffy for a 680." He said, "Math and physics both need high scores."

"Didn’t you take tutoring classes?" Qianqian asked.

"Extra tutoring, but just whenever I have the time," Jiang Nian said. "It’s free. Why worry about a bike?"

"Oh."

Qianqian responded but didn’t leave, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window. Behind her was the bright, orange-lit living room.

The orange light fell on the girl’s shoulders, turning a few strands of her hair golden.

"Turn around."

"Hmm?"

"Just turn around." Qianqian urged.

Jiang Nian slowly turned, muttering, "Hopefully it’s not personal attacks, or ’the crow flies’.

Suddenly, a notebook was handed to him from behind.

"Here you go."

Jiang Nian acknowledged with a hum, glanced down, reached out to accept it, and opened it to find it full of math problems.

"Is this yours..."

He turned his head, only to see Qianqian run back to her room.

....

The next day.

Jiang Nian woke up leisurely, looked at the notebook on the table that he’d gone through a third of.

He stayed up late reading it, and it truly benefitted him.

This was built on the foundation of his extra classes, barely digestible. Had it been before, it wouldn’t have been much use.

Let’s say it’s perfectly timed.

He got up to tidy up, washed up, and headed downstairs to school. Sunday meant few people, making the school appear quiet.

Occasionally, the sound of basketballs bouncing echoed.

By the red pavilion.

Zhou Haifei looked at the figure appearing at the school gate, her expression becoming conflicted, unconsciously pinching her pants.

However, Jiang Nian walked straight over.

"Studying?"

"Yeah." She said, slightly flustered, but not being talkative, she quickly steadied herself. "It’s...almost the mock exam."

"Indeed."

Jiang Nian nodded, thinking he now felt slightly more confident, "Where will you eat when we switch campuses for the exam?"

The mock exam would involve moving to separate campuses, but the distance was fairly short.

For the college entrance exams, they’d certainly take buses, while the mock exam was too far; they’d have to walk honestly.

"I’m not sure, maybe I’ll eat at...the cafeteria on the new campus." Zhou Haifei shook her head, sounding a tad guilty.

Just making it up; probably ended up somewhere munching on buns.

Dining hall benefits are only granted during college entrance exams, like free meals or distributing free meal cards.

As for the mock exam, don’t expect much. At someone else’s cafeteria, diners naturally need to buy meals or eat out.

Jiang Nian didn’t reveal this, casually saying, "That’s good, though Lan Lan seems to be setting up a stall that day."

"A stall?" Zhou Haifei was surprised.

"Yep, some emergency team setup or something," Jiang Nian waved. "Anyway, I’m not really clear."

"But she seems short on manpower."

Zhou Haifei pondered a bit, proactively said, "Then I’ll help after the exam; I don’t usually rest during lunch anyway."

"Sure, she’d love that," Jiang Nian grinned, "Top-notch cattle, I’ll tell her later."

"Okay." Zhou Haifei smiled.

Jiang Nian turned to leave, heading towards the third-year building. Suddenly he veered, going to the tutoring building instead.

He easily made his way to the second floor, finding the door of the psychology department closed, though unlocked.

Lan Lan indeed came.

These days, the woman was busy. She aimed to finish all tasks before the mock exam.

Knock, knock, knock.

"Hmm?" From inside the office came Lan Lan’s surprised voice, unexpectedly nervous. "Who’s out there?"

"Teacher, it’s me, Jiang Nian."

"Oh, wait a sec." Lan Lan breathed a sigh of relief, footsteps followed, and after a while, she opened the door.

She first looked confused, studied him quickly. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Didn’t you finish the task?"

"Ah...it’s something else." Jiang Nian didn’t beat around the bush, directly talking about Zhou Haifei.

Lan Lan: "..."

She stepped aside, offering a space, with a complex expression, "Come in, standing at the door is tiring."

"Oh."

The two settled in front of the office, Jiang Nian dropped his bag. Reached for his cup of water, only to find it stuck.

"Stuck?"

"Yes." Lan Lan leisurely sipped coffee, "Some students have poor psychological resilience, are irritable."

Jiang Nian touched the cactus but found it glued down.

"This texture, fake flowers?"

Lan Lan put down her coffee, rolling her eyes.

"I’m a weak girl."

Jiang Nian saw the stuff on Lan Lan’s desk, realizing everything was fake except her coffee cup.

"Teacher, you..."

"What?"

"Nothing, just seems you have it tough," Jiang Nian sincerely said, "Getting beaten up even if pretty?"

Lan Lan rolled her eyes, "You’ve started flattering, but listening to your sweet words costs money."

Hearing this, Jiang Nian laughed awkwardly.

This yellow-haired guy was indeed a little too opportunistic. When benefits were at stake, he was happy to offer emotional value.

"I’m being truthful, teacher is wise and graceful....."

"Stop." Lan Lan gestured for him to pause. Sitting upright, she said, "Sometimes I really doubt your motives."

"What motives?"

"Yeah, what motives?" Lan Lan muttered, having thought before Jiang Nian might be tempted by her looks.

Being a psychology teacher, she didn’t buy the flashy talk. Yet Jiang Nian, by appearance, wasn’t lacking girls pursuing him.

Moreover, Lan Lan had seen it; more than two pretty girls stood close to him as if relationships were strong.

If greed were a factor, it wasn’t impossible.

For instance, changing tastes and so on.

"Do you like Zhou Haifei?" She knocked on the table, eyes focused on Jiang Nian, "Answer while looking into my eyes."

Lan Lan was just idly wondering, and Jiang Nian was different. The morning wasn’t busy, sparking her humor.

"I like many people," Jiang Nian told Lan Lan, "but not Zhou Haifei—just friends."

Lan Lan took a sharp breath, realizing he didn’t lie.

"You this...."

For a moment, she was awkwardly stuck, unsure whether to praise his good morals or mock his overly peculiar ones.

The latter is fine, but what’s with the former? Forget it, none of her business.

"Alright then, I understand." Lan Lan said, "Tell her to come and help, I’ll provide a work lunch."

Jiang Nian gestured a sign, then left.

.....

"You’re late again." Huang Fang turned, glancing at Jiang Nian in the back seat, "Busy again today?"

Jiang Nian put down his bag, a little surprised.

"Fangfang, why are you so concerned about me? Spending the semester waking up early with you, secretly crushing on me?"

"Ugh!!" Huang Fang showed a face full of disdain.

"Stop with such corny talk, if possible, I wish I never knew you, far away."

Jiang Nian believed her; this line must be genuine.

"Fangfang."

He patted Huang Fang’s shoulder, "If you apply to Northwest Agriculture and Forestry, should I follow?"

"Good friends fly together forever, never apart."

Upon hearing this, Huang Fang appeared horrified.

"No way!"

If unable to escape Jiang after the exams, she’d immediately apply to schools in Guangdong.

Likely, he’d aim for Central China, not the coastal ones.

From south to north, it’s perfectly fine.

"Fangfang oh, Fangfang." Li Hua dashed into the classroom, began singing tearfully, "Child, you’ve gotten thin. It’s really tough."

Huang Fang: "....."

Truly speechless, such a bunch of lunatics.
