Dominate Showbiz: Media Tycoon Discovered My Talent-Chapter 66: Performance Outfit
When Kaija woke up the next morning, it was already midday.
Just as she stepped into the living room, she froze. On her mahogany dining table sat a giant bouquet of roses, stylishly arranged in a white vase just as huge. Next to it, a suspicious looking black paper bag. The sight made her jump straight to the corner, eyes frighteningly darting around the room.
Who the hell got into her place while she was asleep? How the hell did they get a key?
Ten minutes of searching every corner and closet in the flat later, with her heart pounding wildly in her chest and the kitchen knife clutched tight in her hand, she could finally let out a sharp, relieved exhale and confirm no one was inside her place.
Then she returned to the living room, eyes locked warily on the bag. What was even in there? A bomb? Something illegal? Cautiously, she stepped closer and peeked inside.
"A dress?" Her brow shot up as she pulled it out.
It was a mini dress made of light blue satin, adorned with elegant lace ruffles and countless shimmering crystals. Just the fabric and craftsmanship alone told her it must have come from some ultra-high-end brand.
A single note sat inside the bag. "For the festival," it said, without any name signed. From the handwriting alone, there was no way she could guess who wrote it.
"The festival?" Her brow drew together tightly. Had the receptionist delivered this to the wrong room? How was she supposed to wear this cute princess-core thing and rap those ultra-aggressive lyrics?
Confused, she stuffed it back into the bag and headed to her media etiquette class. Strange enough, even after asking the reception and everyone she could think of, no one claimed responsibility for the flowers or the dress.
Eventually, she pushed the weird event out of her mind and left everything exactly where it was on the table.
Two weeks of festival prep passed in intense practice.
Though Antony had said producing might take a week, that was only his own overestimation. He finished the entire track in just two days. How he pulled it off, Kaija had no idea, but he looked like he desperately needed sleep when he walked into the dance studio during those two days.
That left her with plenty of time to practice choreography with Dani, which she definitely needed since it was the part she felt least confident about.
One day before the festival, all participants were gathered for rehearsal. While the fair and festivities would take place on the outdoor field in the heart of campus, the competition itself would be held inside the concert hall.
Liisi was onstage for her rehearsal when Kaija arrived. The moment she spotted Kaija walking in with Antony, she froze in her pose mid–dance, eyes wide open in shock, while the background track kept playing.
Kaija raised a brow at Liisi’s stunned expression. Did Liisi really not expect her to make a new song in time and show up for the rehearsal today? A faint smirk tugged at Kaija’s lips as she headed backstage to the dressing room.
She had more important things to focus on rather than that pink-haired cheater. She needed to meet up with Dani and check the stage with Antony.
Dani had arranged an outfit for her with the outfit crew within the short time they had left, and Kaija only got to try it on today. The moment Dani pulled it out, Kaija almost fainted.
"Dani, what the hell is wrong with you?" Kaija yelled frantically, pointing at the black fabric in Dani’s hand. "Can this thing be really called a dress? How am I supposed to wear this erotic thing and dance in it in front of everyone in the company?!"
Dani just shot her a sly smile, tone breezy as she claimed, "But it fits the vibe of the song perfectly, doesn’t it? Trust me, my girl. Just try it on! With a body like yours? You’re gonna burn every pair of eyes in the room. This dress will set the stage on fire!"
Kaija’s face darkened, completely speechless. There was no time left to beg the outfit crew for something else. She had no choice but to put it on and hurry to the front of the stage. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Earlier, Antony had told her to meet him up later at the controller table. The moment he turned to her, all his movement went still, his mouth falling open, gaze landing directly on the area in front of her chest. Every male staff member standing nearby shared the exact same reaction.
The dress Dani had picked for Kaija was a black velvet bodycon mini dress. Not only did its smooth fabric cling to her every curve, it also had one dangerously deep slit at the bust and two slits at the front of her thighs, all barely held together by thin strings. With her 170cm height and full bust, the dress had turned her into a sex icon straight off the cover of some men’s adult magazine.
"Instructor," Kaija muttered, hands covering her face, "please don’t stare at me like that." She’d kept her face covered the entire sprint from backstage to here.
Antony’s jaw instantly snapped shut. "Sor... sorry, let’s... let’s check the track," he stammered, quickly looking away. He forced his focus back to the stage lighting and sound system, hands trembling over the knobs.
Kaija pinched the bridge of her nose, trying hard to ignore all the eyes glued to her body right now. As she stepped onto the stage, the first thing she spotted was Liisi’s pink hair in the audience. Liisi’s rehearsal was long over, and yet she was still lingering around.
When Liisi saw Kaija in that outfit, her expression immediately soured. It only worsened once the background track started playing, and Kaija began dancing.
Kaija had deliberately chosen not to sing a single word during rehearsal, just testing the stage and the choreography. Contestants could choose to keep their full performance secret till the last moment if they wished to. That was perfectly accepted, and Kaija only planned to hit Liisi with a full sucker punch tomorrow rather than spoiling the fun early today.
Next to Liisi sat Raimo, the blond producer from that night. His expression was no better, mouth hanging open, eyes wide like he was about to drool. What shocked him even more than Kaija’s body in that overly revealing dress was the fact that the legendary AK had made his comeback right here, after years of hiatus.
Not only had AK produced a track for a trainee, of all people, he’d also chosen something as minor as this annual festival, instead of a full album. When he saw AK walk in with that trainee earlier, he’d doubted it. But after hearing the quality of the track she was dancing to, there was no mistaking it was AK’s work.
In the middle of Kaija’s rehearsal, Liisi abruptly stood up, teeth clenching tight, eyes red with envy. She stormed out of the concert hall with her heels slamming heavily against the floor, leaving Raimo stumbling behind as he clumsily shot to his feet and ran after her.
From the stage, Kaija’s gaze followed the two silhouettes until they both disappeared from the hall with a satisfied look on her face. She wondered how much more twisted their expressions would get when she actually started singing the song tomorrow.
