Dominate the Super Bowl-Chapter 864 - 863 Life Blooms
Chapter 864: 863 Life Blooms
The fine drizzle dispersed in the air. Karen tried to get closer, but Felix refused, and the two stood in confrontation like that.
Not far away, Jenna and Jeff were completely stunned, standing frozen in place, staring at the scene.
Jiang Yin couldn’t bear it, almost unable to watch—
She understood Karen. Entirely. During the American League Championship, she had felt the same way. Watching Li Wei fall to the ground over and over, his figure defeated again and again. She hadn’t cared about winning or losing the game; she just wished Li Wei could finish it intact. So, when Li Wei collapsed from cramps, she could barely breathe.
Now, seeing Karen, those memories came flooding back. The light rain in Atlanta perfectly mirrored the scene of that night.
Yet Felix wouldn’t relent.
“Mom, I thought I would leave this world first. It should’ve been me. Bone cancer recurrence—we all know the odds. I even asked Annie to write my eulogy. But… it wasn’t me.”
“Annie left just like that. I didn’t even dare to see her one last time. I’m just a coward. When Annie faced death courageously, fighting to the very end, what was I doing?”
“I was afraid no one would remember me. I wanted to make myself immortal. I feared death, feared the pain. I’m just a coward, a nobody. How desperately I wish I could have Annie’s courage to face all challenges, but I don’t.”
“Now, at least I can fulfill one of Annie’s dreams—to fight like a rookie, to fight alongside the Chieftains until the very end. Regardless of victory or defeat, regardless of the outcome, we can face it with heads held high and tell ourselves we have no regrets, no regrets at all.”
“I—I just hope I can leave without regrets, even if this is my end.”
Karen could no longer hold herself together. “Oh, God.” She turned away from Felix, tears streaming down her face like rain.
Jenna finally understood why Annie and Felix went to the church that night. The answer was unexpected, yet it made her see her daughter in a whole new light again.
Jenna stepped forward, crouched down, opened her arms, and gave Felix a hug. She tried to say something but found any words hollow. In the end, she simply held Felix tightly. “It’s not your fault. It’s not your fault.”
That one sentence broke down all of Felix’s defenses. “But she’s gone. She won’t be able to see the Super Bowl. She won’t be able to see the rookie’s touchdown. It shouldn’t have been like this.”
Jiang Yin turned away to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes, then stepped forward. “Hey, Felix, maybe… you should come to the box seats to watch the game.”
If Jiang Yin remembered correctly, they were allowed to invite some people into the VIP box. That should be able to resolve the conflict between Felix and Karen.
Hope ignited in Karen’s eyes. She turned to Jiang Yin, unable to hide her excitement.
But unexpectedly, Felix looked at Jiang Yin and shook his head. “Thank you so much, Mrs. Li, but I want to stay here.”
Jiang Yin froze.
Felix took a deep breath and gave a smile. “Like the rookie, like Annie, we need to face our own storms.”

“Sure, I could go to the box seats to watch the game today, but there’s still no guarantee I’ll see the Sun tomorrow. Every day I live now is borrowed from God, and I want to treasure it. I want to make the most of it.”
“Look, all these fans around us came from Kansas City. We don’t have tickets, but that doesn’t dampen our enthusiasm for fighting alongside the team. We’ll stay here no matter what, rain or snow, to see this fight through with the team.”
“This is my promise to Annie—not to be afraid, to face it bravely.”
“Of course, I hope I can witness the game from the stands, but I’m very content with where I am now. I won’t leave, and I won’t back down.”
Jiang Yin couldn’t help but be stunned.
She finally realized what Li Wei’s existence had brought—courage and resilience, dreams and hope.
Just at that moment, Li Yi arrived with the paramedics. They quickly moved forward and surrounded Felix, while Jiang Yin and Jenna hurriedly stepped back to make room.
The two mothers, as if by prior agreement, walked toward Karen, while Donna, already standing nearby, offered Karen her shoulder.
Karen’s eyes were still filled with tears. She gave a wry smile. “Am I being too greedy? Felix has already borrowed several months from God, but I still…”
As Felix had said, the doctors thought his life might end three months ago. Felix had been mentally prepared, but unexpectedly, day after day, he had hung on. Yet, it was Annie who left first.
Gradually, Karen had started to grow greedy, hoping her son could hold on a little longer, a little longer—the desire surging more and more fiercely.
After voicing her thoughts, Karen realized what she had said. She turned to Jenna. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…”
Jenna stopped Karen. “I know. I understand. If it were me, I’d think the same way. And now…” Jenna took a deep breath. “I finally understand why Annie liked Li Wei so much.”
Li Wei was more than just a football player. A rookie, an Asian, yet in the running back position, he had carved out a path of his own.
Through his sweat and blood, he turned the impossible into possible. Through his effort and tenacity, he seized every second of life and burned it to the fullest. What he brought was hope, passion, and courage.
Life is finite, but in that limited time, how to expand every second and evolve into infinite possibilities is the true meaning of life.
Perhaps Annie was the youngest among all of them, but her finite life was more brilliant and colorful than most present.
Jenna finally felt at peace. She looked at Jiang Yin. “Li Wei is a good kid.”
Jiang Yin’s nose tingled with emotion.
Karen finally regained her composure amidst her chaotic thoughts. “Thank you for your invitation, but I think I’ll stay with Felix outside the stadium to watch the game. If this is Felix’s final chapter, I want him to write it in his own way.”
Jenna almost broke down in tears.
Jiang Yin and Donna tried to persuade them again, but Karen wouldn’t change her mind. They had no choice but to respect Karen and Felix’s decision.
Fortunately, after the paramedics’ examination, Felix was fine.
Jiang Yin and the group left the fan gathering area and headed toward the stadium. No one spoke, and the mood felt slightly heavy.
Because all of them were parents, Felix and Annie’s story didn’t feel like something distant or unfamiliar.
At that moment, Jiang Yin stopped, stretched out her right hand, and opened her palm in front of her. “The rain has stopped.”
Everyone looked up at the sky. The light drizzle that had been falling intermittently had miraculously stopped. Though the Sun remained hidden behind thick clouds, the sky seemed to reveal a faint hint of blue through the gray.
Maybe this was a good sign.
Unconsciously, smiles appeared on their faces, and their mood lightened. They turned to look around. The fans were cheering passionately and fervently.
Then Jiang Yin and Donna exchanged glances. The two joined in the crowd, shouting with all their hearts.
“Fly!”
