Don't confiscate my identity as a human race-Chapter 1076 - 772: Lanci Has Spoiled the Great Demon Clan
The next day,
As the first rays of dawn broke through the clouds and spilled onto the eastern side of the Demon King Palace’s Regent King Hall, Melogas was already hunched over her desk, dealing with a mountain of official duties.
She sat upright on a throne inlaid with obsidian and crimson gems, her slender fingertips holding a dark and sharp Demon Realm Eagle Feather Pen, swiftly approving documents.
Her face was as stern as ice, and her brows radiated a chilling aura, as if a queen was scrutinizing her kingdom.
Just then, a mysterious figure in a pitch-black cloak, their face hidden beneath the hood’s shadow, silently appeared at the far end of the hall.
"Blasphemous Lord."
The spy’s lithe form was nimble and agile, like a stealthy black panther, their steps so light they almost blended into the light and shadows.
However, Melogas detected the newcomer’s presence immediately.
She lifted her head and stared directly at the figure.
Upon confirming it was her most trusted confidante, her eyebrows slightly furrowed as she slowly raised her hand, gesturing with her fingertips for him to come closer.
The spy advanced two steps, knelt on one knee, and bowed his head.
"My lord, I have come to report."
The spy spoke in a volume that only the two of them could hear.
"Speak."
Melogas lightly tapped the tabletop with her cold jade fingertip, her face showing no emotion.
"The princess has fled, vanished without a trace early in the morning."
The spy’s head hung even lower, his voice hurried and tense.
"What?"
Normally calm and composed, Melogas now stared intently at the spy.
"When disguised as a maid surveilling the princess’s chamber, I found only a decoy she had left behind, while the real princess has disappeared without a trace."
The spy’s forehead beaded with fine sweat, and he continued to report in a forcibly calm manner,
"I immediately led a search in every corner of her chambers, even the little gray cat was gone, the princess must have escaped..."
Melogas listened, her normally pale hand turning bluish-white from gripping too tightly.
"Princess, you really have grown too bold. Have I been too lenient, or do you simply not regard me, your aunt, at all?"
Her face turned grim, her gaze murky and unfathomable.
In the past, under the Ninth-order Calila, the princess had attempted multiple escapes, and now she had grown much stronger; without a member of the Great Demon Clan, no one could hope to capture her.
The spy dared not look up, feeling the cold sweat soak his back.
Melogas’s life-and-death decisions depended on her mood, and it was unpredictable whether she would strike now.
"Did any of the Great Demon Clan members leave with the princess?"
Blasphemous Lord Melogas asked again.
"No."
The spy replied shortly and assertively.
After the princess’s disappearance, they immediately checked for any accomplices, but it turned out the members of the Great Demon Clan in the Demon King’s Castle seemed ignorant of the situation, completely inactive; some even appeared exceptionally calm, utterly unconcerned about the princess.
"Oh?"
Melogas seemed slightly surprised.
She had assumed that the princess’s confidence in escaping came from having the support of the Great Demon Clan.
Little did she expect that the princess had resolutely gone off on her own this time.
"Very well, very well, Your Highness."
Melogas gave a cold laugh, her slender fingertips tapping the tabletop impatiently, producing a chilling sound.
"Your dereliction of duty, I will settle with you another time. But now, immediately go and search for the princess. It is imperative to bring her back safely before the other Great Demon Clan members find out."
Her eyes narrowed, her tone ominous and dangerous,
"And secure the entrance to the ancestral lands in Purgatory City, and increase the search efforts in Pasqual."
Melogas’s gaze seemed to easily penetrate the most likely hideouts of Huebelle.
"At your command, Melogas, my lord!"
The spy, feeling as if pardoned, quickly complied.
He knew well that if the news of the princess’s escape leaked to other Great Demon Clan members, it could create a scandal serious enough to shake the foundations of royal authority, potentially undermining Melogas’s prestige and position among the Demon Race.
If the princess did not return from her misguided ways, it might be Blasphemous Lord herself who would have to set out to capture the princess.

"Also, my lord, our intelligence agents in the Holy Polante Theocracy have sent word that the Pope has agreed to attend the fourth-anniversary commemoration of the Seville Peace and Rebuilding at Oberon’s Iron Fortress headquarters in a month."
The spy reported quickly.
This signified that relations between the Holy Polante Theocracy and the Huo Ning Empire might become more amicable in the future.
Not a good thing for the Demon World.
If the multi-racial Holy Polante Theocracy, led by human Blood Clans, started establishing relations with the Huo Ning Empire, it would pose a significant barrier to the development of the northern Demon World.
In Blasphemous Lord Melogas’s strategy, only mutual hostility between the Holy Polante Theocracy and the Huo Ning Empire was the most favorable scenario for the development of the Demon World.
"If only I could meet the Pope..."
Blasphemous Lord Melogas murmured.
It was all Calila’s fault, that despicable being, for distancing from the Holy Polante Theocracy after the war ended, causing a complete severance of their ties with the Demon World. There were no convenient channels to even attempt to sway or tempt the Holy Polante Theocracy, and the Pope, to avoid any suspicion, had not met with any envoys from the Demon Race in years.
If she could meet with the Pope and speak of old ties between the Demon World and the Polante Empire during the war, to irritate the Pope and remind him of past hatreds, perhaps under the influence of her Demon Sound, the Pope might be swayed slightly.
Although she did not expect the Pope of the Holy Polante Theocracy to go mad in his later years and reignite a war against the Huo Ning Empire, at the very least, she could not allow the historical enmity between Holy Polante and Huo Ning to ease further.
