Doted By The Regent King-Chapter 37 - Bold and Fearless
37: Chapter 37: Bold and Fearless
37 -37: Bold and Fearless
Wufu looked at the man who was drenched and passed out in the pile of firewood, unable to tell if he was dead or alive; he was truly pitiable.
“We need to change his clothes…”
“What?
That won’t do!” Madam Zhou shrieked, hastily pulling her daughter away from the woodshed and said, “He’s a man, who can change his clothes for him?
Bringing him home was already beyond the norm.”
This girl’s courage was truly getting bigger and bigger, not only did she bring this person home, but she even thought about changing his clothes…
Wufu saw the look of terror on her face and furrowed her brows, only then did she remember the strict separation between men and women in this era.
It was just a change of clothes; she didn’t care about it herself, but her mother, who had read the “Female Precepts” and highly revered those customs, would likely faint straight away if she really went through with it.
“Mother, let’s clean up and change into dry clothes first; we’re still wet!” Wufu could only speak slowly again.
“Oh, oh, then you go quickly.
I’ll go to the kitchen and make some ginger soup to ward off the chill.” Madam Zhou also belatedly realized and hurriedly pushed Wufu into the house, then she headed towards the kitchen.
But Wufu pulled her back inside, saying that making ginger soup could wait, wearing drenched clothes and catching cold would be uncomfortable.
After changing clothes, Madam Zhou went to the kitchen to busy herself with making ginger soup, while Wufu sneaked back to the woodshed and was startled.
“Hey.”
The man lying in the pile of firewood curled up into a ball, hugging himself tightly and muttering in his sleep, “Cold, so cold.”
Wufu knelt down and reached out to feel his forehead.
It was burning hot.
“This isn’t some melodramatic TV series scene, getting feverish just from being in the rain, tsk.” Wufu complained under her breath, and without a second thought, started to undo his clothes.
But then she remembered that she wasn’t the only person in the house.
She stepped out, first brought a blanket to cover him, and then somehow found a basin and placed dry wood on top, lighting up a fire basin with flint.
After all this, Ah Jiu was still sleep-talking about being cold.
Wufu pursed her lips, sighing, ‘Ah well, it doesn’t matter anymore.’
Pulling back the blanket, she quickly undid Ah Jiu’s upper garments, revealing his muscular torso; only, it was crisscrossed with fresh wounds and bruises.
Wufu’s gaze fell on his abdomen, which was even more severe, looking as if it had been heavily punched, with serious bluish marks and slightly collapsed.
Were all these new injuries?
No wonder he was always holding his abdomen in pain, as if he had internal injuries?
But given the bruises everywhere, it was not surprising he had internal injuries.
Bang, crash.
At the doorway, something shattered.
Wufu snapped back to reality and turned to look.
She saw her mother standing at the entrance, staring at her, dumbfounded, hands still in the pose of holding a bowl, while the bowl itself was now in pieces at her feet.
“Wufu, you, you…” Madam Zhou’s fingers trembled slightly.
Buddha, Bodhisattva, what on earth had she seen?
Wufu, she actually, she even dared…
Madam Zhou’s body staggered, she leaned on the doorframe, took a deep breath, and said urgently, “Come out, come out right now, you girl, how could you dare…”
She was too angry to complete her sentence.
This girl, who was not yet of considerable age, actually dared to undress a grown man, and completely at that.
“Mother…” Wufu felt rather embarrassed, how should she explain this?
Madam Zhou stood partly turned away, not daring to look at the naked man, and screamed, “Come out this instant!”
