68 -68: All Debts Settled
Ah Jiu didn’t understand the difference between Lady Wu and Lady Fu, but since the other party requested it, Lady Fu it was, a name that also sounded auspicious.
“Lady Fu, thank you.” Ah Jiu clasped his hands and made a deep bow, after all, it was a fact that Wufu had saved his life.
Wufu stepped aside and said, “No need for that, between us, it’s just a transaction.” She glanced at the subordinates standing to his left and right, “Now that your subordinates have arrived, does that mean this transaction is complete?”
Ah Jiu nodded.
With Hoo Die and the others having arrived, he wasn’t going to linger here any longer.
His previous caution was only because he was alone, and if anything had happened, given his injuries, he feared he would not have been able to deal with it.
But now that Hoo Die and the others had come, he no longer worried.
Wufu took off the jade pendant hanging around her neck and passed it over: “Let’s exchange it for silver, shall we?”
Yuan Ye and Hoo Die were stunned to see the jade pendant taken out from Wufu’s bosom, and they looked towards Ah Jiu.
Ah Jiu, however, calmly accepted it and said to Yuan Ye, “Give this lady one hundred taels of silver.”
“One hundred taels?” Hoo Die exclaimed in amazement, looking at Wufu.
Why should she?
“It’s this lady who saved my life,” Ah Jiu explained nonchalantly.
Yuan Ye had already taken out his money bag, counted it, and found it not enough.
He looked at Ah Jiu and said, “There’s only fifty taels.”
Ah Jiu was taken aback and turned towards Wufu.
“I was prepared to take care of you, which is why I asked for one hundred taels of silver; now that this is no longer necessary, I suppose a discount is acceptable.
Consider it making a friend,” Wufu didn’t mind.
Upon hearing this, Yuan Ye handed over the bag.
Wufu took it, not even looking before stuffing it at her waist.
“This is too easy a profit, I don’t even make this much as my monthly money,” Hoo Die said, astonished, watching the money bag at Wufu’s waist.
Wufu said, “The silver has been delivered, the transaction is over.
My lord, please.” She gestured with her hand, indicating a respectful send-off.
Ah Jiu squinted his eyes at her, “What a forthright girl.
No, rather a decisive and ruthless one,” he thought, as the transaction ended, she was immediately urging him to leave.
Seeing that he didn’t move, Wufu looked puzzled, raised her head to see his stern gaze, shrugged and grinned, saying, “If the lord requires my services again, you can seek me out.”
“Very well!” Ah Jiu agreed without hesitation.
Yuan Ye and Hoo Die were both startled, with Hoo Die even going closer to the servant and whispering in his ear, “Could the master’s head be damaged?”
“We should hurry and find a doctor to wait on him,” Yuan Ye frowned.
Ah Jiu, having heard their conversation, glared at them irritably and headed out, with Yuan Ye quickly following after him.
As Wufu sent them out, Madam Zhou snapped out of her daze and followed them.
“Mother.” As soon as she left the house, she saw Old Lady Zhou standing outside, looking in shock at Ah Jiu and his entourage.
Madam Zhou’s face paled, and she quickly went over to support her, but was forcefully shrugged off by Old Lady Zhou.
Old Lady Zhou scrutinized Ah Jiu and his group without speaking, and Wufu, watching, realized that the old lady must have misunderstood again.
It was no wonder she might have gotten the wrong idea, with a man leaving their house so early in the morning, who wouldn’t be shocked?
Wufu thought, later on it was likely to be noisy again, with her uncle arriving and her grandmother coming after, they really did take them seriously!
Ah Jiu also saw Old Lady Zhou looking uncertain, his eyes flickered, and he boarded the carriage.
Then, he said to Wufu, “Lady Fu, if you need help, you can send a message at Wenshan Bookstore.”
He then took something from Yuan Ye and handed it to her, saying, “You can use this as a means of identification.”
Wufu looked at him, somewhat surprised.
