Chapter 11: Chapter 11: The Perverted Hand
"Boss, you're way too strong!" Wang Sheng said excitedly after Xiao Chenyu and his group left.
Wang Sheng still vividly remembered Xiao Chenyu's words. From now on, they wouldn't harass the work-study students anymore. This was a huge relief for them.
"Hehe, you're quite impressive. Seems like I wasn't wrong about you," Xiao Wu giggled, revealing her dimples. Her gaze toward Zhao Ming carried an indescribable emotion.
"Of course! If I didn't have some skills, how could I be your boss?" Zhao Ming chuckled.
"That's true. Alright, enough of that. Let's go eat!" Xiao Wu wrinkled her nose. She had already caught the scent of the food from the second-floor cafeteria.
The second-floor cafeteria was vastly different from the first floor. Here, students could order individual dishes, and the quality of ingredients was far superior. Occasionally, they could even find dishes made from soul beast meat—of course, only if they could afford it.
Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.
These rare ingredients were usually reserved for the academy's teachers, but nobles like Xiao Chenyu and his group, who came from wealthy families, could also afford them.
Zhao Ming glanced at the menu. Most dishes cost several silver soul coins, while some were priced in the dozens of gold soul coins.
Even the cheapest dish, "Stewed Chicken with Mushrooms," cost two silver soul coins—no wonder the work-study students couldn't afford it.
Zhao Ming casually ordered a few dishes and then passed the menu to Xiao Wu and the others.
When Wang Sheng and the others saw the prices, they were stunned and refused to order anything. Xiao Wu, however, showed no hesitation and picked out the more expensive dishes without a second thought.
"This braised rabbit head looks pretty good. I bet it tastes delicious," Zhao Ming suggested as he watched Xiao Wu browse the menu.
"Are you trying to die?! Rabbits are so cute, and you want to eat them?" Xiao Wu's beautiful eyes widened in fury. "Don't you know my martial soul is a rabbit? And yet you still want to eat rabbit in front of me?"
"But Xiao Wu, you just ordered tiger paws," Wang Sheng reminded her with a playful grin. He wasn't actually offended, even though his martial soul was a tiger.
Xiao Wu was momentarily stunned before huffing, "That's different!"
"Uh... how is it different?" Wang Sheng asked curiously.
Tigers were the natural predators of rabbits—of course, it was different!
The only meat dish Xiao Wu ordered was tiger paws. After all, her kind had suffered greatly at the hands of tigers. In her heart, eating tiger meat was a small form of payback.
Of course, she wouldn't say this out loud to Wang Sheng and the others.
...
"Boss, let me toast to you! Thank you for standing up for us work-study students," Wang Sheng said, raising his cup. The students were drinking rice wine, which was mild enough for their age.
Zhao Ming smiled. "Since you all call me boss, it's only right that I look out for you. Xiao Chenyu and his group shouldn't cause you any more trouble. But if they do, just tell me, and I'll deal with them."
With that, he raised his own cup and drank it in one go.
Rice wine wasn't very strong, but with so many people drinking, it started to add up.
Wang Sheng started the toast, and soon, the other work-study students followed, each raising their cups to Zhao Ming.
After Zhao Ming defeated Xiao Chenyu and forced him to promise not to bully them again, his status in their eyes had risen to the level of their teachers—or even beyond.
Even though they had only known Zhao Ming for a day or two, they already recognized him as their leader.
During the meal, Zhao Ming barely ate anything—he was too busy drinking.
Xiao Wu had a few drinks as well but quickly lost interest and focused on eating instead.
The entire table of food was wiped clean by the group of ten. For the work-study students, this was the best meal they had ever had.
Rubbing her full stomach, Xiao Wu was extremely satisfied with the dinner.
But just as she was about to leave the table, a hand suddenly grabbed her, and a figure collapsed onto her.
Startled, Xiao Wu was about to push the person away when she realized it was Zhao Ming, his eyes half-closed and hazy.
"Boss must be drunk," Wang Sheng said, noticing how unsteady Zhao Ming was.
"Xiao Wu, you barely drank, so why don't you take the boss back to the dorm? The rest of us are too drunk," Wang Sheng added, his body swaying as if he might collapse at any moment.
The other work-study students, catching on, also chimed in.
Seeing them all struggling to stay upright, Xiao Wu had no choice but to support Zhao Ming and lead him back to the dormitory.
Zhao Ming leaned heavily against her, his head resting directly on her shoulder. His warm breath brushed against her neck, making her feel an unfamiliar ticklish sensation.
This was a completely new feeling for her, leaving her heart slightly flustered.
"Hmm? Pretty girl, give me a smile," Zhao Ming murmured drunkenly, tilting Xiao Wu's delicate chin as he flirted with her.
Xiao Wu froze.
Her eyes widened in shock.
"Zhao Ming, you better keep your hands to yourself. If you keep messing around, don't blame me for what happens next!" She slapped his hand away, glaring at him furiously.
But Zhao Ming, lost in his drunken stupor, paid no attention.
His hands continued to wander.
Fed up, Xiao Wu unceremoniously dropped him onto the ground and stormed off toward the dormitory.
After walking a few steps, she hesitated. Feeling uneasy, she turned back.
Seeing Zhao Ming seemingly asleep on the ground, Xiao Wu sighed in exasperation. In the end, she couldn't just leave him there and resumed dragging him toward the dorm.
Fortunately, Zhao Ming didn't try anything else, which made her feel slightly relieved.
However, in her heart, she had already labeled him a pervert.
People say drunken words are truthful thoughts—in her mind, Zhao Ming was nothing more than a big pervert.
If he hadn't been thinking inappropriate things, he wouldn't have acted like that, even when drunk.
