Dragon Necromancer: Starting With First Dragon Bloodline-Chapter 39: Girl from the Dreams
Side by side, the trio stepped out of the classroom.
Every step they took drew even more attention their way, and whispers swept the hallway.
"Why are they even making their lives difficult? If fate didn’t favor you, you should just stay low. What’s the point of pointless suffering?" someone mumbled.
"Some people are too prideful to face the truth. That’s why they are living in false hope."
"The next class is combat practice, right? They are going to get crushed."
"I will personally do that myself. Let’s see how long that Graveworm brat keeps his head high."
Hearing this, Noa didn’t flinch.
Neither Thalia nor Marlo showed any reaction.
The former was tier 2 already, and despite being a first-year student, she had a tremendous advantage over others.
She even knew more than one spell from her family.
So, the idea of her losing against others who had no prior knowledge was highly unlikely.
Marlo, on the other hand, had different plans of his own.
It was hard to say what went through his head, but he remained confident even when people badmouthed him.
"I think we are the coolest trio in the academy," he muttered, grinning. "But a fourth member, preferably a girl, would tie things together even better."
Noa shook his head. "You are the only one who thinks like that," he said, and after a brief pause, he added, "But I agree. We definitely became the center of attention for a reason."
As the conversation continued, Noa felt a sudden approach from behind.
He was about to get into a battle stance when his augmented senses calmed him down, alerting him to familiar presences nearby.
"Did you guys rehearse this shit before, or am I the only one who thinks you made a great show?" Kael asked suddenly, winking at Noa with a smile.
He, however, sighed first before nodding his head. "Nope. But we should have done that. It would have looked even more dramatic."
Thalia giggled next to him.
She had gotten smoother—her hand had slid under his arm.
Lior was there as well.
As always, it was impossible to read his mind.
"You guys are going to get in huge trouble," he stated, looking at the trio like they would be expelled at any moment.
"It’s alright," Noa answered. "I am quite thick-skinned."
He had already accepted the fact that attention was the prize for standing out. There was nothing he could do to change that. And instead of wasting efforts to outrun it, Noa tried to embrace it and use it to his advantage.
If he proved his worth, it would be sensational, yes, but no one would kill him for that alone.
He simply had to be careful, showing just enough potential to tempt the academy into investing in him.
That way, he could grow stronger in silence.
And from that silence, within the darkness, he would gather dragon ashes and revive them.
What came after was still blurry in his head.
Noa had yet to decide what to do with that strength, but one thing was clear—his enemies would be dead, reduced to ashes.
"Have you made any friends yet?" Noa asked Thalia, noticing that not a single girl made eye contact with her.
"Nope. These bitches are getting on my nerves. So, we are ignoring each other."
"Still, you should try to make connections. You need female friends, and I am sure there is at least one who would be glad to get to know you," Noa answered, walking at a quick pace.
Down the corridor, the entrance of the training hall appeared.
A massive metallic gate with glowing sigils and golden runes revealed a massive arena inside.
The walls were reinforced with potent mana, ensuring that nothing would break inside.
Noa’s gaze sharpened instantly.
It wasn’t just a lecture he came for—it was the class that determined whether he would stay or be expelled on the first day.
Before actual mana training for both warriors and mages, the academy forced them to fight.
Only noble families and their direct descendants might know a spell or two, or some techniques, before enrollment.
And even then, they would know the simplest skills at best.
As for the few who sensed mana before the awakening ceremony and carried royal blood, they would be a unique case altogether.
Only one other student had this feature besides Noa.
"Why are there so many people?" Thalia asked as they reached the gates.
Students from the first, second, third, and fourth years flooded the arena, eagerly watching something in the distance.
"They all can’t be here for us," Noa concluded. "Perhaps there is something else going on."
As if to answer his thoughts, murmurs reached his ears.
"...There she is!"
"She is even more beautiful up close."
"And she is the strongest second-year student in history. That’s what I would expect from royalty."
"If sensing mana at ten wasn’t impressive enough, her warrior talent is exceptional too."
"I wish I could approach her. But I am too scared."
Even the girls were mesmerized by her, their fan club whispering words of awe louder than the boys’. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Noa also turned his gaze towards her.
Following the crowd’s focus, he had to pause for breath.
Surrounded by eerie calmness, a tall girl moved so gracefully that even mana seemed to make way for her.
With pale skin and an unchanged expression, she looked cold.
Her long silver hair made her seem even less approachable.
She was wearing the standard blue uniform, but somehow it looked brighter on her.
Every movement she made while holding a sword silenced the crowd, and with a lack of softness in her posture, she exuded strong discipline and control.
"Powerful," Thalia muttered and whispered to Noa. "I think I have seen her in my dreams."
Noa didn’t respond.
He was focused on something else—something that swirled beneath the girl’s feet.
Four distinct mana flows!
Each corresponded to a different element!
’I want to fight her,’ Noa thought, clenching his fists.
