Chapter 61: Talk With Lilian

"What... what was that?" Lilian asked, her voice unsteady.

"Well, you see, my Flash Movement skill evolved," Orion said, gulping down a mouthful of saliva. "Now it’s become a teleportation skill."

Lilian was still frozen in shock.

"Teleportation? You mean actual teleportation?" Her voice trembled. "What rank does a skill have to be to do... this?"

She knew about teleportation, of course—but only in the form of teleportation portals. Those were exclusive to the royal family and the most powerful noble families and required an enormous group of mages, draining their entire mana reserves just to activate once.

But what Orion had used was completely different.

There was no formation, no chanting, no preparation, as it was a skill.

And no cost she could sense.

Compared to portal magic, Orion’s skill bypassed every known limitation.

The sheer magnitude of it made her head throb.

"Well..." Orion hesitated, scratching his head. "It’s S-rank now."

Lilian’s eyes widened. "What?" She paused, then shouted, "Did you just say S–S rank?!"

"Yes..." Orion gulped at her reaction.

"What rank are you now?" she asked in a low voice.

"B-rank."

"...Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds?" she snapped, disbelief and jealousy mixing in her tone.

"An S-rank skill while you’re only B-rank?! How is that even possible?!"

Then she added sharply, "And when did you even become a B-ranker?"

"Well... after I beat that B-rank monster."

Lilian slowly lost the strength to scream. She sat down on the bed and let out a long sigh.

"An S-rank skill..." she muttered. "Only a handful of people in the world can achieve that. And no matter how talented they are, it takes years—decades of dedication. Even hero candidates need years just to raise a single skill..."

She looked up and met Orion’s eyes.

"But you..." she said quietly. "You just keep shattering everything I believed was possible. You damn cheat."

Orion chuckled awkwardly. "Sorry... I guess?"

Her expression suddenly turned serious.

"Listen carefully. You should never let anyone else know about this skill."

"I know," Orion nodded.

"This isn’t just an S-rank skill," she continued. "It’s teleportation."

She stared at him intensely. "A skill straight out of myth."

"Okay," Orion said. "I’ll keep that in mind."

They both fell silent for a moment. After a brief hesitation, Orion finally spoke.

"Lilian... do you want to talk about what happened the other day?"

At his words, Lilian looked down. She stood up from the bed and turned to leave.

"Wait," Orion called from behind.

"We can’t keep going on like this. Should I leave this house? I think living together like this will only get harder and more awkward."

Lilian spun around.

"Why do you have to leave?" she snapped. Then her voice softened.

"I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I know you’re not my boyfriend... but seeing you with another girl still hurts. I know it isn’t your fault—I’m still trying to understand my own feelings for you. So... please bear with me a little longer."

She clenched her fists. She had decided to be honest.

Orion let out a slow breath.

"Do you like me, Lilian?" he asked seriously.

She sat back down beside him.

"I do," she admitted quietly. "But I don’t think I can handle a relationship right now. I have responsibilities that I have to focus on."

"Responsibilities?" Orion muttered with a dry chuckle.

"Because if I know you at all, you never cared about this hero nonsense."

He thought she was just making excuses—avoiding the issue.

Lilian’s eyes widened.

"Orion, no—you have to believe—"

He cut her off.

"Let’s talk about this later. The academy starts tomorrow, and we have a lot to prepare."

The distance in his voice twisted something deep in her chest.

"...Alright," she whispered.

After a pause, she added,

"By the way, you know about the new hero candidates and the dungeon raids, right?"

"Yes," Orion replied. "I read something like that in the newspaper."

"Well, you should know that Headmistress Evelyn chose you to go with us."

Orion’s eyes narrowed. "What? Why would they pick me?"

"I don’t know," Lilian sighed. "I tried to argue, but she said if you had any objections, you could speak to her directly."

After Lilian left, Orion sat alone, lost in thought.

’Are they trying to fully gauge my strength?’

He ran a hand through his hair.

’After all that trouble I went through avoiding the S-division...’

He groaned.

’First that prophecy thing... then the succubus, and the New World Order. Not to mention my conversation with Lilian—it didn’t go the way I’d hoped.

And now the headmistress...’

Orion stared up at the ceiling, covered his face with both hands, and let out a low growl.

He stared at the ceiling and covered his face with both hands.

"Ahh... let’s just focus on the academy for now," he muttered.

The thought of seeing Sofia at the academy brought a small smile to his face, and eventually, he drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, he was awakened by Naomi’s sweet voice.

Despite always complaining about how loudly Lilian used to wake him up...

He found himself missing it.

At the dining table, Orion and Lilian ate in awkward silence before heading to the academy.

The academy grounds were like a festival.

Thousands of carriages filled the streets, crying mothers sending their children off like they were heading to war.

At the gate, Lilian and Orion parted ways, since they belonged to different divisions and their classes were on opposite sides of the academy.

"Hey, man! What’s up?"

As Orion entered his classroom, he saw Estaban running toward him, waving wildly.

"I’m good. You?" Orion replied as they took seats together.

He felt awkward around Estaban now, considering he had slept with Sofia, Estaban’s sister.

"So?" Estaban leaned in. "Any news?"

Orion knew exactly what he meant.

"I do—but we need to talk in private."

"Oh! That reminds me," Estaban said excitedly. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"We can form our own club here. A place to plan strategies."

Orion’s interest piqued. "Really? What do we need to form a club?"

"Five students. That’s it."

Orion thought quickly.

Himself, Estaban, Martin, Lloyd—four. They just needed one more.

"You guys making a club?" a voice rang out behind them.

They turned.

It was Sofia.

"Oh—hey, Sofia," Orion said. "When did you get here?"

"I was always here," she replied sadly. "You just didn’t notice me."

"Oh... sorry," Orion smirked. "How should I make it up to you?"

"How about a date?" she said brightly.

"Sure," Orion chuckled. "After we finish today’s classes?"

"Yay!"

They completely forgot Estaban was still there.

"HELLO?!" Estaban shouted in horror.

They snapped back.

"...Are you two dating?" he asked, eyes wide.

"Yes," Sofia said happily, wrapping her arms around Orion’s neck.

The surrounding boys glared at him in pure jealousy.

"How could you do this to me?!" Estaban cried.

"What about the bro code?!"

’This world has that too?’ Orion thought.

"With a sister that hot," Orion smirked, "you should’ve established the bro code earlier."

Sofia giggled. Estaban groaned.

For a moment, Orion felt at peace.

Then—

"Is there a student named Orion?"

A guard stood at the door.

"Yes. That’s me."

"You are summoned to the S-division by order of the headmistress."

Orion sighed inwardly.

’Here we go.’
