Dragon System: Red Dragon Legacy-Chapter 70: Entering The Dungeon
They followed Headmistress Evelyn down to the lowest floor of the fortress.
"Damn, it feels like we just walked down a hundred floors," Revo muttered.
The room was dark and gloomy—a long hallway that strangely reminded Orion of the one in Ember’s dungeon, disappearing into endless darkness.
"Once you enter this hallway, you’ll officially be inside the dungeon," Evelyn said, turning toward them. "Rachel and I won’t go any further. You’ll be on your own. We’ll only intervene if things go completely out of control."
Everyone nodded, determination filling their faces.
"Wait, does that mean you’ll be monitoring us inside the dungeon?" Orion asked.
The Headmistress gave him a strange look before replying, "No. Lilian and the other hero candidates each carry an emergency communicator. They can contact us if something goes wrong."
Orion let out a sigh of relief.
Then, one by one, they stepped into the hallway.
Orion, who entered last, frowned in confusion. Each person vanished the moment they crossed the threshold.
He didn’t dwell on it and stepped forward as well.
The next moment, he found himself in a massive open chamber.
’Wait... where did that long hallway go?’ he thought.
"Alright... everyone," Revo spoke, drawing their attention. "Should we come up with tactics, or just charge in and face everything head-on?"
Orion raised his hand.
"Why don’t we split into two groups? Me and Lilian in one team. You two in the other."
"But wouldn’t that make us weaker than staying together?" Josephine asked.
"That’s true," Orion replied. "But think about it—you two know each other’s fighting styles, right?"
Revo and Josephine nodded.
"But we don’t know how you fight, and you don’t know how we fight. Staying together might actually slow our growth. And isn’t the first part of this expedition meant for our development?"
Josephine and Revo exchanged thoughtful looks.
"Okay... let’s do it," she said, then paused. "But tell me—is this really about growth... or do you two just want to spend some time alone?" she added with a wide grin.
At her words, Lilian glanced at Orion, trying to read his reaction.
Orion chuckled. "You’re really sharp. Yeah, you got me."
Lilian’s cheeks flushed red.
"Ohhh, so you guys are really a couple now? Oh, what a gossip— I mean, news."
’Yep. The whole school’s going to know about my relationship with Lilian as soon as we get back,’ Orion thought.
With that, Orion and Lilian turned and headed toward another chamber.
"Wait!" Josephine called out. "What about that Sofia girl? I heard you two were involved, too."
Orion turned back, a smirk on his face.
"Well... she’s also my girlfriend."
Before Josephine could respond, he walked away with Lilian as fast as possible.
Josephine’s eyes widened in shock.
Revo froze, then muttered reverently, "That man is my god."
Josephine just rolled her eyes.
Orion and Lilian entered the next chamber.
"Well... where are all the monsters?" Orion muttered.
"We won’t see many on the first floor," Lilian said, summoning her sword. "Usually just small F-rank monsters. Maybe some goblin brutes if we’re lucky."
Orion summoned his own blade.
"Should we take that hallway? And is there going to be a floor boss?"
"I don’t know. The first few floors usually don’t have one. We’ll see. Let’s go."
As they walked, Lilian glanced at him.
"By the way... why were you grinning like an idiot back at the fortress? And don’t tell me you remembered something funny. I know you. Something’s up."
Orion sighed. "I’ll tell you after we get back." He paused. "I’ll tell you everything."
Lilian nodded slowly. "Alright. I have something to tell you too. We’ll talk later. For now, let’s find the portal to the second floor. There should be monsters nearby."
After walking for a while, they came across a massive door.
"I guess we found it," Orion said.
"I think so."
Lilian stepped forward and pushed it open.
"Grrkkk—"
The room was filled with goblins, but they were all the weakest F-rank ones. It left Orion slightly disappointed. After stressing himself with politics and business for the past few days, he had hoped to blow off some steam.
"I guess this will have to do," he muttered.
"Don’t be disappointed," Lilian said. "We’ll face stronger ones on later floors. Let’s focus."
She charged forward.
Her sword devoured blue energy, and with a powerful swing, a crescent-shaped aura shot forward.
"Grk—!"

"Gra—!"
Ten goblin heads fell cleanly to the ground.
But she didn’t stop.
She moved with incredible speed, her blade flashing again and again. The goblins tried to retaliate, but they couldn’t land a single hit. They fell one after another.
Orion watched from the side, wanting to observe her fighting style.
He couldn’t help but be impressed.
Her movements were precise. No wasted motion. Every strike is efficient. She fought with a grace that left him momentarily mesmerized.
’She’s a battle goddess,’ he thought.
Soon, nearly fifty goblins surrounded her from every direction.
Orion was about to intervene—
—but Lilian raised her palm.
Blue fire ignited in her hand, the same shade as her sword’s aura. She hurled it forward.
Explosions erupted.
Goblins were blasted across the chamber.
A few landed near Orion, and he casually cut them down.
’Yes, I saw it when she fought those bandits, but she never mentioned this skill again... I need to ask her about it later.’ Orion thought, then refocused on observing her again.
Only about ten goblins remained now.
Lilian, who was visibly bored, decided to finish the remaining goblins quickly.
Golden light gathered in her palm. She raised her hand—and lightning burst outward, scattering into the remaining goblins.
They convulsed, electrified, and collapsed lifelessly, smoke rising from their charred bodies.
When it was over, she walked back to Orion with a proud smile.
"So? My skills might not be as outrageous as yours... but I’m proud of every one of them. Don’t you think they’re cool?"
"They are," Orion said seriously. "You really were like a battle goddess out there."
"Oh, stop flattering me," she said, her face turning red again.
"By the way, where’s the portal to the second floor?"
She pointed toward another door. "Probably there."
They entered the next room.
In its center stood a glowing portal.
Without hesitation, they stepped through.
