Dragonborn Saga-Chapter 758: Kungosvern
Chapter 758: Kungosvern
The mystery of the leader of the War Dragons Cult was almost unveiled. Jon stood on top of a mountain while waiting for the golden dragon to take action, and just like him, the dragon remained on the nearby peak, observing Jon.
Knowing what he was up against, Jon tried to gather all the information he could about the infamous Kungosvern. However, aside from the fact that this was Alduin's champion, the ever-victorious dragon whose name signifies the Light of Heaven, he had very few mentions in the annals of history. He was probably one of the oldest five dragons that ever lived, following names like Alduin and Paarthurnax.
"Truly mysterious." Jon said, looking closely at the figure of a human standing on top of the dragon's head.
The sight of a human on top of a dragon, even with the knowledge of the shout that commanded such a feat, made Jon curious. Dragon riding was the stuff of hushed legends, and none spoke of such a casual ascension, a mere step on the dragon's formidable head.
If this was the champion Alduin's rumors spoke of, then something very mysterious was unfolding.
"Who are you?" Jon spoke with a voice that boomed through the heavens. "State your reasons for attacking my city, lizard face!"
Jon tried the provocative approach, but it only led to the human above the dragon tilting its head.
As Jon examined the figure more, he could see that it wore heavy winter clothing and hid its face with a large hood. That figure seemed to be not on guard against him and casually squatted over the Dragon's head.
"Hm?"
With a smile, Jon felt that the dragon and human pair were quite eccentric, and the only way to do something about it was to make them dance to his music.
His foot descended with a resounding crash, sending a tremor through the mountain's core and splitting the earth beneath him. A monstrous chunk of rock, the size of a small dwelling, broke free and tumbled dangerously close. With a contemptuous flick of his leg, Jon sent the massive boulder hurtling skyward, his eyes tracing its ascent above the man and dragon pair.
The golden dragon and its rider remained motionless, but as the rock plummeted downwards, Jon sprang into action. With a lightning-fast horizontal kick, he sent the rock hurtling towards the golden dragon's head.
The sudden attack was more than provocative, but the Dragon simply backed its head and tilted it to protect its rider before receiving the rock head-on.

The rock crumbled against the indestructible dragon horns, but as soon as their vision was cleared, Jon was nowhere to be seen.
"Wake the fuck up!"
He was there right on top of them, and he was swinging a sinister black blade.
The Dragon and its rider reacted, albeit later than Jon's action; their reaction was extremely fast, and all Jon could see was the dragon's tail colliding against the senselessly sharp Ebony Blade, which he hadn't used in a while.
The tail and the blade moved against one another as sparks started to fly senselessly. Just as the tail ended, Jon found that the dragon had twisted its body in a creative way to find its dark maw open and ready to chomp him off.
"FUS RO DAH!"
Being the sneaky fellow he is, Jon viciously shouted the Unrelenting Force against the open mouth of the aggressive dragon. The shout was enough to divert the Dragon's trajectory, and Jon used the chance to go for a big stab against its neck.
"FUS RO DAH!"
But just as Jon was about to land the attack, the human figure above the Dragon shouted just the way Jon did, and the latter barely managed to keep his footing by stabbing the blade to the ground.
That voice just now was feminine, something Jon hardly expected the mystery dragon rider to be.
Still, Jon is nothing if not a man who operated on the principle of "equal rights, equal fights." Nothing would make him hold back his punches when it comes to female opponents. For that, Jon squatted hard, and with his leg muscles bulging, he jumped like a bullet and body-slammed the dragon that was in an awkward position. However, something he didn't expect to happen happened.
Just as he was expecting to collide against a dragon with a large awkward body and rough indestructible scales, what he collided against was a human body, and rather than the woman from a moment ago, it was a man... a very large and burly human male.
Jon looked at the man who was almost larger than him in all dimensions and wondered where this guy came from. He seemed like a fighter of old, fighting bare-chested, wearing nothing but a waist skirt and covering his head with a horned animal skull mask.
If Jon was to make an educated guess, he'd think that this guy ahead of him is some sort of a champion from Hercine's Hunting Ground, but that can't be true since if it was, this would mean there is one more enemy Jon will have to worry about.
"Who are you?" Jon asked, but as soon as he blurted out his question, the Dragon appeared once again on the scene.
Kungusvern was indeed a large Dragon, and as it landed, the ground shook with stronger tremors than the one Jon caused by stomping the mountain. This time though, there was no rider on its head.
""Joor lir, kosmey dovah. Paak!"" The Dragon and the Warrior facing Jon spoke almost simultaneously.
Actually, not almost... Perfectly Simultaneously.
"Fuck!"
Jon instantly recognized the situation; this wasn't his first encounter with such an occurrence. He knew of certain Altmer twins who had originated from a single Aldmer, one forced to split into two to escape the repercussions of Dawn Magic.
The Dragon and its Rider are one!
"For Kyne! For Winterhold!"
Leading the charge against the hordes of undead and dremora was Alina, whose appearance shifted the flow of battle. Up in the sky, the Dragon rained death at any opportunity the defenders of the city would take to regroup and consolidate their force, but with a tricky illusion spell, Alina was able to raise a cloud of mist and send many pulses of magic through it to jam anyone from seeing through it.
The upper quarters and the quarry road were retaken with a swift advance and covered by a volley of crossbow bolts. The Dragons risked descending into the mist cloud many times, but rather than encountering any Dare Trooper, they faced the combined might of Winterhold's heroes.
In 15 minutes, the city center was retaken by the defenders, and Alina rushed to the Dare Tower's basement in order to amplify its functions. Right now, the tower's output was dormant, and its defense mechanism was set to observe and report.
Many warnings were registered in the main terminal hidden beneath the tower, and so Alina cleared them and started to initiate the defense mechanism. Right now, only two mechanisms are applied to this situation, and the first of them is none other than...
"Initiate Bardic Knowledge!"
A spell only Jon would utilize to its peak potential, he laid down an enchantment that can mimic the functions with pre-recorded entries. Once the enchantment was ready, it displayed its options to Alina.
One of the options that instantly caught her attention was the "Songs of Defense," and one of them was marked with a star. Jon has a habit of drawing a star on the things he finds most important.
Immediately, she put the first song on play, and the tower started to gather the Magicka necessary to cast the effect citywide.
"Alina! Come to the roof! Quickly!"
Hearing the voice of Jullanar echo in her head, Alina locked the terminal and moved like the wind to the center of the tower. There, the central Magicka focus point was activated, and Alina levitated with the energy stream, scaling the 24 stories of the tower in one go.
After reaching the top, the strong wind blew as a dragon landed above the roof. Jullanar, who somehow possessed a dragon at the beginning of the fight. Alina couldn't help but be intimidated by the fierce looks of the dragon, but it wasn't anything she wasn't used to by now.
"Look!" Jullanar said as she awkwardly pointed with the dragon's wing to the direction of the mountains.
There, fierce waves of golden energy were erupting, and no matter how Alina tried to look through it with her eye powers, she failed to even catch a glimpse of the energy patterns.
This is beyond her level as an Arch-wizard.
It was, in all manner of things, terrifying.
A power like no other, the realm of divine beings, a boundary beyond anything that can be achieved by mortals.
One distinction was clear, and that is that nothing can step into this fight between what are practically immortal beings.
The unstoppable force and the immovable object; when they collide, what suffers is everything around them.
If the scale of that collision was to expand, nothing would save New Saarthal from certain destruction.
