Dreaming of you-Chapter 54: VIP Treatment for a Fake Girlfriend
Currently—
"Did you really became Dong-hyeon’s fake girlfriend?"
After hearing all the incident, Yeong-ae asked in surprise. Jung-hee replied,
"Yes. What else could I do? If my photos or videos were leaked on social media, I would’ve faced a lot of trouble at work."
"Yeah, that’s true."
"So, what happened next? Did Kyung-hee say anything to you after that?" I asked.
"Umm—no. We didn’t really keep in touch after that. Actually, after getting humiliated in front of the whole school, Kyung-hee changed schools."
"Ohhh—then what happened?"
"What else! The two of us continued pretending to be a fake couple in school. Since I was close to Dong-hyeon, I could manage my work properly too. I could easily gather information about almost all of Mr. Jun’s deals."
"But you guys were in same school. Didn’t you ever realize you were mixing up Dong-hyeon and Hyeon-woo’s identities?" Yeong-ae asked.
"It would’ve been great if I had. Everyone at school used to call them ’Hyeon’ in short. They both had the same nickname. That’s why I stayed confused for months."
"So how did you find out later?"
At my question, Jung-hee drifts back into the past.
Flashback—
Jung-hee was walking through the school grounds when Dong-hyeon came up behind her and put his hand on her shoulder. Jung-hee is a little surprised by his sudden approach. Glancing at him from the corner of her eyes, she said,
"Who shows up like that? Idiot!"
"Don’t you feel ashamed calling your boyfriend an idiot?"
"Fake boyfriend," she corrected him.
"Same thing. Still a boyfriend."
"I got into this mess because of you. Otherwise, I would’ve never pretended to date you. Hmph—"
"Alright, I get it. Want to hang out today?"
"Where?"
"One of my friends is getting married. He invited me. Want to come?"
"Today? When?"
"The program starts in the evening."
"But..."
"But what?"
"I don’t have any outfit suitable for a wedding. I’ll need to go shopping."
"Alright, no problem. Let’s go in the afternoon. I need to buy something too."
Before Jung-hee could say anything, a football rolled to Dong-hyeon’s feet. Hyeon-woo, from the field, shouted,
"Hey! Bring the ball over. Let’s play."
"Coming!" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Dong-hyeon looked at Jung-hee, who was now glaring at him.
"You’re really going to play with them now?"
"Yes. Why? what happened? "
"Didn’t I tell you to stay away from Dong-hyeon? He’s no good. He’ll trap you in trouble someday."
"Hahaha—" Dong-hyeon started laughing. Jung-hee frowned and asked,
"Why are you laughing?"
"The way you’re talking, it’s like you are actually my girlfriend. Haha—"
Jung-hee blushed. Stammering, she said,
"How absurd. Do I have to be your girlfriend to give you a good advice? I’m saying this as a friend. Take it or leave it. I don’t care."
"Hyeon...." Hyeon-woo called again.
"Alright, I’ll keep your advice in my mind. I’m off now. Don’t forget—we’re going shopping this afternoon."
Dong-hyeon left. Jung-hee also started walking back into the school.
By this time, the relationship between Dong-hyeon and Jung-hee had turned into a genuine friendship. They had become really good friends, and their bond had grown stronger.
---
Jung-hee stood outside the school with her bag on her shoulder. Dong-hyeon pulled up in front of her on his bike and handed her a helmet.
"Do you always carry an extra helmet with you? And that too a girl’s one? Just how many girlfriends do you have, huh?" She says it in a funny way.
"Where’s that burning smell coming from? Seems like something’s burning..."
Dong-hyeon teased to provoke her.
"What are you trying to say, huh? Why would I be jealous?"
"I never said you were jealous. Guilty conscience speaks loudest, you know."
Jung-hee punched him lightly on the back. He groaned in pain, "Ah!"
"Let’s go." Jung-hee got on the bike, and Dong-hyeon started the engine.
---
Dong-hyeon brought Jung-hee to a large, famous shopping mall. They entered a branded store.
"Why did we come here? I can’t afford anything from here."
Dong-hyeon didn’t say anything, just gave her a side-eye. One of the staff members took Jung-hee to try on dresses.
Jung-hee tried on several dresses, but neither she nor Dong-hyeon liked any of them. Just as she was about to try another one, Dong-hyeon’s eyes caught a stunning green gown. Dong-hyeon likes the dress at first sight. So he asks one of the staff to give that dress to Jung-hee to try on.
"Outstanding, give her that dress."
"But sir, that’s a new arrival and we only have 5 pieces in stock."
"So? What?"
"So, the price is a bit hi—"
Before the girl could finish, Dong-hyeon gave her a sharp look.
"Do I look new to you? I’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars here before, and you’re talking to me about the price?"
"Sorry sir, extremely sorry. I’ll bring the dress to the lady right away."
"Gooo."
The girl left with the dress.
Soon after, Jung-hee came out wearing the dress. Dong-hyeon was stunned. She looked so beautiful in that gown that he couldn’t take his eyes off her. He walked up to her.
" Do you like it? "
" The dress is beautiful, but.... "
" But what? "
Jung-hee looks around. Then she whispers into Dong-hyeon’s ear, " I told you that my budget is not high when I came. It looks very expensive. "
"You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll go pay the bill. You follow me."
Dong-hyeon left. The staff members helped Jung-hee adjust the dress properly.
Dong-hyeon paid at the counter and came out with Jung-hee. As she stepped outside, Jung-hee suddenly stopped walking. Dong-hyeon turned back to her.
"What happened?" he asked with a frown.
"Why did you buy me such an expensive dress?"
"I told you before—you’re my girlfriend..."
" Fake girlfriend " She interrupted and corrected him.
He glanced and continues to says, "What ever, you’ll get VIP treatment. This is part of it. And since you’re going to my friend’s wedding with me, it’s my responsibility to cover your expenses, right? Now let’s go."
Dong-hyeon held Jung-hee’s hand and started walking. Jung-hee looked at him, stunned.
