Duality of Shadows-Chapter 1015: Warm Ride
Alm and Bruno were surprised. This universe shouldn’t have been anything special for a primordial chaos item to want to enter it. Was it just something random?
They both sighed in sync; neither of them had ever wanted to visit that place. In the past, they had told Ruri about Earth; Bruno, in turn, always reminisced and used things from there. Even though they had only lived a few years on Earth, that place had left a deep mark on them.
Maybe because of their father’s strict upbringing, young Bruno was very curious. He liked to play and read about everything, especially fantasy and mythology. However, when reborn and living in the cultivation world, many things from Earth’s fiction turned out to be surprisingly close to reality.
Something obviously felt wrong. Still, Alm and Bruno avoided thinking too much about it, preferring to believe it was just a coincidence. They did this so they wouldn’t have to return to that place; it was like thinking too much about Earth made a poisoned dagger twist inside them.
"Damn... our karma doesn’t spare us anything. Well, screw it," Alm said dryly as the whale moved.
The queen also clearly felt where the item had gone but immediately vanished to avoid being chased by the whale. She was being extremely cautious and would only attack when she was sure she could win.
The whale approached the black hole leading to that universe. They waved and left a fragment of their celestial souls at the location. If the queen entered the universe, they would know immediately.
The two sighed internally and then entered.
They soon found themselves in that universe, which was less than 1% the size of the queen’s former universe. There was absolutely no Qi, and the natural laws were so weak that it was almost impossible to use them, even with the power of the tattoos.
As soon as they opened their eyes, purely by instinct, they focused on a distant galaxy. It wasn’t anything extravagant compared to the others, but it was their old home: the Milky Way.
The whale moved quickly toward it, then felt everything that was inside it.
No surprises, there was almost no life. In fact, in that entire universe, due to the lack of laws and Qi, life was much harder to arise. Even in the underworld, a Yin world, it was easier for life to exist. That universe could only generate some due to the Yang placed in all universes at the beginning of time.
As for the Milky Way...
"In the entire galaxy, besides Earth with humans, there’s only one planet with elves, another with demons, and another with beasts. There has always been intelligent life, but they are very far from Earth in the galaxy," Bruno murmured.
The two understood that, probably, the people from those planets would never meet. They were already very few, and depending only on technology, they would either destroy themselves in internal wars or take so long to develop that the sun of their planets would die, extinguishing them.
The whale stopped there. There was no real reason to go to Earth. They turned around and felt all the celestial laws of the universe.
They were 90% broken, as expected. The entire connection with the world’s celestial laws had disappeared, so now they would slowly recover and generate a variation of the original. But without Qi, probably nothing too strange would arise there.
"!" The two’s eyes widened as they felt something very strange.
The whale turned around and focused back on the Milky Way. Their senses were drawn to Earth, and they couldn’t believe it...
"What the hell... the power of the primordial chaos item... it’s very weak, but it’s still flowing stronger on Earth and the other planets with complex life," Bruno said, stunned, and soon confirmed by observing the other planets.
Alm and Bruno sighed heavily once again. It seemed like they were being pushed to go to Earth no matter what. Now, they couldn’t even curse Heaven’s Will anymore.
They moved toward the sun and then saw something metallic and clearly unnatural moving away from the solar system. Suddenly, Bruno exclaimed, "Wait, is that the Voyager probe? How is it still so close?"
Bruno remembered that human probe sent out of the solar system, slowly drifting away. But strangely, it was just a little farther than his memories indicated.
The two were intrigued. Time passed differently in universes, but this wasn’t entirely determined by the level of the universe’s laws; it was something randomly set when it was born. Alm and Bruno were experienced in this, as they had already created thousands of universes.
Without delay, they rushed to Earth. As they neared the Moon, they stopped and felt their hearts beating a little faster. They were clearly affected.
They tried to calm down and search for that presence of calamity on the planet, but it was so subtle they couldn’t even tell where it was coming from exactly. After sighing, they felt a call from the inner universe.
At the Tree of Chaos, they saw Ruri and Meru with worried looks. The two made them leave, and soon they were facing that blue planet, which didn’t seem to have anything particularly special or striking.

"Ruri, do you remember the place I said I came from before?"
The whale asked gently, and saw her nodding and understanding, then turned toward the planet, excited. As a child, she had said she wanted to visit that place with them. Now, it had finally become a reality.
Meru had also heard from Ruri about that place, and soon became curious and excited. Seeing the excitement on their faces, Alm and Bruno felt all their reluctance completely disappear.
"The queen shouldn’t come here. If she tries, I’ll know. We can make a quick visit and check a few things out," Bruno said softly, but soon sighed as he noticed something. "I’m fine, just need to change clothes. As for you two... completely change your faces and physiques. If you two are seen as you are... I’m afraid no man on Earth will find another woman attractive."
The two smiled brightly and nodded. Alm and Bruno focused their gazes on a big city in Europe... then narrowed their eyes. Everything looked exactly like their memories. The people’s clothes and the surrounding technologies hadn’t changed. This was really strange.
They asked the dwarves in the inner universe to make clothes similar to what people from that place wore. They used random materials with no power, and in minutes, everything was ready.
Soon, the three approached, invisible to the naked eye. The whale had to explain the absurd amount of space debris circulating around Earth. They also pointed out the space station still in orbit.
Meru was intrigued: "Mortals living outside the planet... what a senseless madness, the mortal body isn’t made for that..."
Alm spoke coldly: "Since there’s no cultivation, humans created another way to compete with each other and kill each other over it. Resources, technology, and information are some of the biggest powers that govern this place. They created these things because they gained an advantage over others. But it quickly develops other things... in the end, the goal is always to be above others..."
The two snorted. Whether with cultivation or not, no matter the race or place, everything always revolved around the same point: the struggle for power and survival.
"Where did Dad come from?" Meru asked as they entered the atmosphere.
The whale explained that he was the son of a powerful emperor in that place. He was born on a luxurious island in the middle of a vast ocean, which didn’t belong to any country. Then he grew up and studied in all the main places on the planet, never getting attached to any of them or having a real home.
When they stepped into a European country, the whale politely approached a person and asked, using one of the many languages he had been forced to learn in the past:
The person heard the peculiar question and retorted, "The date today? What hole did you crawl out of? ...We’re on XX January 2XXX."
Alm and Bruno’s eyes widened. ’How is that possible? Only ten years have passed since we died?’
Bruno murmured, tense. They had lived millions of years since leaving Earth. They had created universes and knew there was a limit to the time difference, but this seemed completely unreal.
They thanked and stepped away. They decided to investigate calmly — the power of calamity on the planets should answer this question. But first... they looked at the two, whose eyes were sparkling with expectation.
They decided to take them to visit the most eye-catching and strange places on Earth. They were very busy places, and they certainly wanted to blend in with the people without hiding, which was why the disguise.
However, they didn’t understand anything the people said. In the end, the whale had to pretend to be the translator and bodyguard for the two beautiful, wealthy women — even with the disguise — from somewhere in Asia.
Nothing was as eye-catching or amazing compared to the cultivation world, but they had a lot of fun, with the whale explaining about the place and answering their questions and curiosities about Earth. It was a warm, calm, and fun family outing.
Something caught their attention. Humans on mortal planets suffered much more from the influence of the environment they lived in, as their weak bodies had no cultivation and needed to adapt to the place. Thus, their ethnicity and appearance completely changed from one region to another. In the cultivation world, an entire planet usually had only one or two ethnicities.
After nearly a month of vacation, the trio was walking on an incredibly large wall in an Asian country. Ruri got very excited seeing so many people who looked like her in that place. Suddenly, they spotted a male figure walking on the opposite side. He suddenly stopped to stare at them.
It was an older Asian man, who seemed like a simple person, working there with the tourists. Suddenly, he started trembling from head to toe while staring at them. Quickly, he fell to his knees, powerless.
"Sir... immortal cultivator..."
