Duality of Shadows-Chapter 948: New Kind Of Monstrosity
"Let’s head out. We’ve been here for a while." Alm and Bruno’s souls separated again and spoke to Ruri, gently calming her down.
She couldn’t stop crying. But after a few minutes, a big smile spread across her face, and she hugged his arm, undoing her technique.
They had spent nearly fifteen days there. As soon as they stepped out, they felt Anizu’s aura waiting for them outside the building. They moved quickly, and she approached them.
"I did it," Anizu said quickly. "With everyone’s help, I can keep the entire planet under the influence of my Dao. From the outside, it’s impossible to properly sense the changes. Even an immortal with mastery over time and space would only feel a subtle fluctuation."
After speaking, she turned to Ruri, puzzled. It was as if Ruri was radiating her own light, with a beautiful smile that wouldn’t leave her face. Even that Fey felt moved by the overwhelming joy emanating from her.
The whale spoke: "Perfect. Make time pass as slowly as possible for the people on the planet compared to the universe. Push it to the max, but ensure it doesn’t interfere with the Fey’s cultivation."
Anizu thought for a moment before responding, "I can handle it all alone, as long as I occasionally receive some bloodline from a group. Since I can’t cultivate myself, it makes no difference to me. This will also help me study my Dao and perhaps improve it. A month in the universe should be a year on the planet. Is that enough?"
They nodded in agreement. Ruri, however, grew even more excited and turned to the whale. "Master..."
"Yes, I need some time to study my gains. Also, the people from our universe need more time. We can stop for eleven months and enjoy this period calmly," the whale replied softly, looking at Ruri.
Only then did Anizu focus on Ruri and notice something growing inside her. She nearly jumped in surprise.
Ruri immediately spoke through the array, ’Rivine, Calirer, Mistie! Come quickly!’
Alm and Bruno sighed. Soon, the three women rushed over at full speed, as if summoned urgently. The moment they saw Ruri, they instantly sensed the change within her, and their eyes widened.
Lyra and Almin arrived shortly after, with their little son in the father’s arms. The two saw Ruri and smiled softly. Moments later, tears filled Almin’s eyes.
Isla had also become a painful memory for him. She was his and Alm’s childhood friend; they had grown up together and always been close. Her death, and everything that followed, had been hard to accept, even though he had been mentally controlled at the time.
"It’s time! Hehehe!" Ruri said excitedly, and the three women smiled in response.
Soon after, the other generals arrived. Suddenly, the three turned their attention to them. Corin, Maelik, and Quirio froze. A cold sweat ran down their spines as they felt the piercing gaze of the three women.
"Almin, we need some good pills!" Ruri said, almost laughing.
"What kind?" he asked, confused, sensing the tension in the air and murmuring, "Fertility?"
"No. Master and I already got something good for that," Ruri said, thinking about the bulls’ balls they had obtained during their last mission. "Make energy pills... their lives depend on it."
"What...?" Almin muttered, confused.
Ruri tossed three spatial rings containing the treasures to the women, who caught them and nodded in thanks. Then, without warning, the three women moved, grabbing the arms of the three men and dragging them away, disappearing from sight.
Certainly, no one would see them again until the women got what they wanted. Seeing the despair in the eyes of the three men being dragged away, Almin understood.
He gently handed the baby to Lyra, then rushed to make recovery and vitality pills... perhaps some sedatives too—not for the men, but as an emergency weapon for them.
Ruri took a good look at the baby Lyra was holding. Alm and Bruno approached to check the child’s condition again. Everything was indeed perfect and peaceful in that soul.
"Hm... I could bring their memories from the last life back. But I think it’s better not to. It’s ideal for them to start completely fresh," the whale said. Lyra nodded in agreement.
She then said, looking at her child, "Almin wanted to ask about this. So, we’ll name him Sohum. It’ll be a complete fresh start."
Ruri agreed. "Sohum, she’ll be here by your side soon. The two of you will grow up together and have a peaceful childhood."

Alm and Bruno nodded. They indeed needed time but also wanted to give Isla this fresh start, free from the dangers of war. Ten years was the maximum they could offer her.
That same day, all the whale’s allies from other planets moved to Planet Gloom. Unfortunately, the main figures couldn’t stay there, but the soldiers could remain permanently. With less than eleven months passing in the external world, there wouldn’t be any problems.
Soon, Anizu gestured, and everyone watched as endless time-space runes covered the planet. It lasted for a minute, then disappeared as if nothing had happened.
People wondered if it had worked, but Ruri confirmed it, clearly feeling the change. Time on the planet had been perfectly altered.
After that, Alm and Bruno joined Ruri, deciding to take nine months off alongside her. Rehvka also approached, extremely excited and radiant. The two women understood how important this was and chatted animatedly.
Six months later, Ruri was sunbathing, sitting beside the whale, holding his arm lovingly. Her belly was already quite prominent, and an aura of peace surrounded the two of them as they created memories of this rare and unique moment.
It was then that Rivine and Maelik were seen again—or rather, Rivine appeared smiling in the sky above Ruri, waving with a victorious grin. As for Maelik, he was probably hibernating somewhere, recovering his strength.
A month later, Purimu returned, brimming with excitement. During this time, she had been handling all the leadership duties of her mother’s sect, having been trained to take charge when needed. Now that her mother had returned, she brought the news that she would soon have a brother or sister.
The following month, Ruri, with her belly growing ever larger, murmured sweet things to the whale in his ear. They sighed together, and she laughed, glowing with joy. The couple spent every moment of every day together, cherishing the baby’s growth.
Alm and Bruno gave her all the attention she desired, but Ruri insisted that they take walks during the day, offering guidance to the Feys and soldiers on the planet. This way, they weren’t entirely idle, and all the soldiers significantly improved their cultivation and comprehension during this period.
That same month, Corin, looking utterly gaunt and lifeless, was seen again. Meanwhile, Calirer stayed by Ruri’s side in their building. She and Rehvka grew closer as they prepared to support Ruri for the approaching final moment.
A few weeks later...
The whale was sitting outside the building with Almin, who held his son. Both displayed nervous, tense expressions.
Suddenly, the building’s door opened. The whale and Almin rushed to the entrance. Upon entering, they froze as they saw Ruri emerge. She was slightly trembling and exuded the scent of blood.
She walked slowly toward the whale. In her arms, she carried a small, delicate baby, as fragile as porcelain.
Alm and Bruno were completely stunned, unable to react or think. Seeing that baby unlocked deep feelings they had long kept buried. But Ruri kept walking, a gentle smile on her face as she looked directly into their eyes.
When she reached them, she floated lightly and, without breaking her gaze, extended her arms gently:
"Here, Master, our daughter. The one you’ve always waited for, though the day never came. Now, the wait is over."
The whale trembled, his eyes locked on that fragile little figure. His hands instinctively extended, holding her. The baby was so tiny she fit in the palms of his joined hands, so delicate that he stopped breathing for a moment, fearing any movement might hurt her. The ancient being was completely disoriented, unsure of what to do or think.
Ruri smiled, and everyone around her smiled softly in unison. It took several seconds for Alm and Bruno to regain their senses. Gently, they moved the baby closer to their chest, holding her with the utmost care.
At that moment, the newborn—silent and unnaturally calm for a baby—moved. It was as if she had been waiting for this gesture and nestled into them softly. Then, finally, she began to cry, as babies should.
"Hmph... I’m gonna have to share Master now," Ruri remarked with a wide grin.
Alm and Bruno, still speechless, awkwardly tried to hand the baby back to Ruri. But as they did, she seemed to grow even more distressed, letting out a piercing cry.
"She’s hungry, but she doesn’t want to leave you; troublesome little thing... but I get it. We’ll have to handle this together, Master." Ruri spoke softly, and the three of them entered the building.
Almin let out a sigh of relief and stepped outside. Rehvka and Calirer followed, smiling as they left the couple alone.
Ruri had to nurse while sitting on their lap, her back resting against the whale’s stomach. They gently supported the baby, carefully holding her tiny body and guiding her close to Ruri’s chest to help with nursing. Ruri smiled, radiating joy as she shared that intimate and precious moment with them.
"What should we name her, Master?" Ruri murmured.
"Hmm..." Still in shock, they thought for a moment. Then, they softly replied, "Meru. On Earth, it’s a mythological and sacred name, representing the origin of all worlds. At the same time, it’s a simple plant that symbolizes strength and the cycle of life."
Ruri nodded: "Meru..."

Ten years later.
A round figure floated atop a mountain, eyes closed in meditation.
Until a muffled sound echoed, and he immediately felt the clouds of tribulation gathering above his head. Surprised, he opened his eyes, and a soft voice sounded in his ear:
"I did it, Daddy!"
Alm and Bruno looked over their shoulder to see a small figure with bright, round eyes sitting there, smiling at them.
If they dressed her in a maid outfit, Alm and Bruno could swear Ruri had traveled back in time to when she was ten years old. But this was Meru. The only difference was her brown eyes, inherited from her father, and the aura she emanated—a blend of Behemoth and Primordial Dragon bloodline.
"Spirit Fusion Realm at ten years old..." They murmured, speechless.
This was a new kind of monstrosity. Not even on Planet Alpenglow was there anyone who could compare. Their daughter had reached the first divine realm, and her body was still far from fully developed for cultivation.
"Hehehe, I’ve surpassed Sohum by an entire realm. I can’t wait to see his disappointed face." Meru giggled softly, and two tattoos on her fists pulsed like stars.
*BOOM!*
Tribulation lightning struck toward her. The whale didn’t even flinch, still in shock. Meru, however, merely scoffed, and all the lightning’s power was absorbed by the tattoos, transforming into the best nutrient for her.
In the distance, Ruri watched with a smile, admiring from afar the bond between those two.
