Duality of Shadows-Chapter 996: Perfect Balance
After reading and seeing everything once, the rune of knowledge dissolved and completely disappeared.
Alm and Bruno became thoughtful. Obviously, they couldn’t reveal a single word about it. The Heaven’s Will had worked immensely hard to deliver this knowledge to them, fearing that the laws would react and the queen would find out. If they spoke, the worst could happen.
’So the Origin Law we named in the past... really had that name. We even developed a technique using it. We were always close to it and interacting with it,’ Bruno murmured.
The two reflected on countless problems related to their goal. The main obstacle was the queen, who would certainly not miss the chance to enter the World of the Higher Heavens again.
She had already been there twice, and it only opened once every fifty million years. Since she had no idea how important it was to master the Diagram, she would take a thirty-day break and then enter it.
Soon, it would be very risky to enter and destroy the Primordial Columns, because she would notice and prevent them. In short, it was quite likely they would have to face her again.
’We have one year until it opens,’ Alm said coldly.
That place only allowed deities, but both they and the queen could clearly enter without any problems.
Alm reflected: ’We gained that knowledge called the Order of Divinity recently. It wasn’t given to us to use, but rather for our allies. The Heaven’s Will must be telling us that bringing allies will be useful.’
They read that knowledge again, now with a much greater understanding. Indeed, it was a guide to make the incomplete Dao approach the Birth-Law and be accepted by the heavenly laws.
They had hundreds of deities in the inner universe, but almost all of them had to restart their cultivation from scratch and were still very weak. If it were just to bring them along, the Heaven’s Will wouldn’t have given them that knowledge.
’Anizu, Ciceya, Rehvka, and Nixis are able to help. We have a year. Let’s see if anyone can be accepted with this knowledge,’ Bruno concluded.
The two then moved to the inner universe and quickly gathered everyone. They informed them only that in one year, they would be going to the place where only deities could enter.
The Heaven’s Will had even said that Anizu would know something about it. Maybe Ciceya knew as well. So, they looked at them, and they understood what was wanted and started speaking.
Ciceya, the oldest of the two, had been born long before the queen began the war. According to her, the World of the Higher Heavens wasn’t exactly a secret among the deities in the past. In fact, it had been the ultimate goal of everyone.
An immortal simply didn’t die unless killed. Before the war against the queen, battles to the death between them were rare. Because of that, figures appeared who lived longer than they could handle.
After living for a long time, an immortal would see everything life had to offer so many times that they could no longer bear it. When they reached that point, most immortals lived solely to find Immortal Chaos Fragments in the underworld. But the competition was so fierce that no one had hope of acquiring much.
After several millions of years, extreme boredom and the lack of desire to continue living took over many.
Then, there was the World of the Higher Heavens. A mysterious place where only deities could enter. But no one had ever returned from there. Could it be certain death? Of course, but still, it was something new and mysterious.
That’s why, every time it opened, many deities entered, tired of living aimlessly and desiring an adventure.
Of course, after the queen started the war, everything changed. Ciceya never had time to get bored.
In the present day, Anizu confirmed what Alm and Bruno already knew: last time, the queen managed to take thousands of deities and bring them back. But no one remembered what happened inside.
"Great, in a year, we’ll enter and find out what’s inside," Bruno said seriously. "But only those who are deities can help me."
After he said that, Ruri’s expression froze. Meru and several others were also disappointed because they didn’t even have an incomplete Dao made by them. Creating one now and being accepted in a year was impossible.
Moreover, there was another problem. The whale had provided immortal-level law knowledge for everyone who wanted to study. There were also the immortal suns and the knowledge of the nine-star tree. Everyone who lived there studied a bit, and the powerful ones replaced their internal laws with some immortal law.
A deity couldn’t study an immortal law—it was a disadvantage of being a deity. Soon, practically 99% of the whale’s allies were eliminated. To participate, they would have to destroy their internal laws, which would be very bad.
Alm and Bruno felt the disappointment of everyone, but they focused on a few specific people.
Among the dwarves, Zaimo had never given up on completing his Dao, so he hadn’t touched the immortal laws. What he had created united all the dwarves and was essential; completing it was crucial for his race.
Along with Zaimo, Corin also hadn’t given up. Especially because Rehvka had completed her Dao, creating a silent rivalry with Ruri. In the end, Ruri would never be able to do so after creating a divine soul.
There was also Venjio. He and Kaiyka had ’died’ before Alm and Bruno studied immortal-level knowledge and shared it with everyone. Venjio had recently returned and didn’t have the chance to study much about it. He had an incomplete Dao and could complete it.
"You three and anyone who wants to should isolate yourselves and prepare," Alm announced, and shortly after, the knowledge of the Order of Divinity was delivered.

After that, they gathered with Meru, Ruri, Almin, and Lyra. Technically, the items of primordial chaos were also a pure manifestation of the Birth-Law. Maybe there was a way for them to help in that place.
"As we go to the place, the inner universe will go with us. If you manage to merge perfectly with the law of the item, you will be able to leave," Bruno explained to them, without going into too many details.
Everyone was a bit confused but could tell from the looks of the two that they knew many things, although, for some reason, they couldn’t speak about it. All the allies wanted to help, and upon hearing that, their eyes lit up.
"Meru should be the closest to this. The mirror was well connected to her soul; she just needs to fully activate the law to shape the physical side as well," Alm commented, and she beamed with joy.
Soon after, they isolated themselves, fully focusing on achieving this.

Eight months later.
Three new figures gained a radiant divine halo. Zaimo, Corin, and Venjio had truly succeeded and officially became deities.
In the eleventh month, surprisingly, a fourth person emerged. Idris, after receiving help from the Goddess Fey, merged the knowledge he had received from Alm long ago with his own manifestation.
He had always felt he could succeed, so secretly, he focused on increasing his power by other means, without studying immortal-level laws. Now, using that new knowledge, he managed to be accepted and also became a deity.
"Great... it would be really strange if we took four women with us. Now we have four men too, a perfect balance," Bruno said lightly.
Thus, the one-year deadline had passed completely.
The whale’s eyes opened, and he nodded. By his side, eight figures appeared with tense and anxious expressions.
"Let’s go," the whale said, indifferent as always. Alm and Bruno were already well accustomed to this situation. They were simply jumping straight into the abyss, which was certain death, with no idea how they would solve everything. In other words, just a regular Tuesday.
