Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 195: Your Biological Daughter
"The woman you walked away from just because of your father’s sins." His grandfather said with a sigh.
Tristan finally composed himself, "Whatever I do is my concern, it’s not for you to worry about."
"Until when will you carry the burden of someone else’s sins? Your father has done a lot of things in the past that nobody is proud of, but you don’t have to pay the price for it." His grandfather said softly.
Without waiting to listen further to the old man’s words, Tristan strode out of the conference room. Kaleb sent an apologetic smile to the older man before hurriedly following after Tristan.
The Grayson family patriarch sighed deeply. He had people in secret watching his grandchildren’s movements, and out of them all, Tristan was the hardest to understand. But it wasn’t strange that he grew up aloof and detached, the boy had been through a lot during his childhood.
Having to watch his father live the kind of life he did, losing his own mother through suicide must have been the most painful thing he’d ever been through.
He didn’t want to take the Grayson Corp from Tristan in the first place, after all, he knew how hard the boy had worked to build his own company on his own, all he did had been an effort to force him into finding a companion, and perhaps get a great grandchild out of that, but his rascal of a grandson had to be so clever to have taken the company back by himself without following the condition they set.
Had Tristan found a woman, or even ended up having a child, the older man was sure he would have found happiness within the circle of raising a family of his own.
"A pity though, we never even got a great grandchild out of this."
Some days ago, Ryan, who had been thrown behind bars for drugging and attempting to rape a woman, had found a way to release himself. He had become enraged when he heard the news of Tristan regaining ownership of Grayson Corp once again, but there was nothing he could do, the strongest lion always won the game.
Finally accepting that there was no way to turn around his grandson’s mind about marriage, the Blakewood family patriarch walked out, leaving the building of Grayson Corp behind.
.....
Tristan returned to his office after the meeting. His face was rigidly aloof.
His workaholic tendencies had intensified tenfold, a far cry from the way he’d once been.
All the workers in Grayson Corp could be seen going around with heavy dark circles under their eyes.
Kaleb felt like Tristan had become more of a working machine, since they returned from the trip, he never went home, in fact he hardly left the office at all. The lounge suite at the company became his second home, but he barely spent enough time there suitable for rest before he returned to work again.
And as expected, immediately he returned to his office, he once again buried himself in a tall pile of work.
Within the span of a few days, the Grayson Corp’s profits had increased by almost seventy percent.
The door to Tristan’s office suddenly burst open and Kaleb stormed in, he was never one to barge into Tristan’s office before even when there were emergencies. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Tristan didn’t lift his head despite Kaleb’s strange behavior, his focus still intently fixed on his work.
Kaleb clutched tightly onto an envelope he held in his hands, the shocked astonishment didn’t disappear from his expression,
How...how was this possible? The president really was..."
After seeing the contents in that envelope, it all finally seemed to make sense to Kaleb.
So this whole time...all these years, five years to be exact, there was such a strong connection between them, but Tristan never knew.
Kaleb looked down at the things in his hands and then hesitantly at Tristan, who was furiously typing away on his computer, his face stern and expressionless, but if one looked closely, one would see the faint traces of pain between his furrowed brows.
Kaleb didn’t know how Tristan would react to the news they had just gotten, but he finally decided to just let him know about it. No longer hesitating, Kaleb approached Tristan’s table.
He had a lot of information for Tristan at this moment, however, he decided to drop the bombs one after another, even he himself hadn’t yet recovered from the shock.
"President, this just arrived for you." Kaleb slowly placed a file on the table for Tristan.
"Hmm." Tristan hummed, still focused on his work, not taking his attention off it for a second.
"Boss, it’s urgent, you have to take a look." Kaleb urged.
Tristan, thinking it was something related to work, swiftly picked up the file, however, the moment he opened a page, he went stiff when he was met with the words; Divorce agreement.
His eyes turned blank, as his gaze slowly travelled downwards, a bold signature of Celine Roberts was written boldly.
Something clenched his throat, he continued to stare at the page for a few more seconds before he placed it aside without a word.
When Kaleb saw that the first one already sunk in, he decided to drop the second bomb.
"Earlier, I heard some girls in the office talking about something and passing around invitations, I took one because I thought you might need to see it." Kaleb slowly slid a golden envelope in front of Tristan on the table.
Tristan picked up the envelope and pulled out the glittering card that lay inside.
A wedding invitation? Tristan frowned, his eyes fell on an unfamiliar name, which made his frown deepen at why Kaleb would give him this wedding invitation, however, he once again stiffened up with shock when a familiar name came into his view.
Celine Roberts.
She was getting married?
"I heard that Miss Roberts would be getting married to her childhood sweetheart, the wedding is in a week." Kaleb informed, gauging Tristan’s reaction.
Celine hadn’t returned to Grayson Corp after their trip to Rowena islands. However, a few people she was familiar with in the office had suddenly started talking about her wedding. Kaleb had taken the invitation to show Tristan but hadn’t gotten a chance to due to the meeting. But now seemed to be the perfect time.
Tristan held the invitation in his hand, still staring at it blankly without saying a word.
"But boss... I don’t think you should let that wedding happen." Kaleb said honestly.
Tristan still didn’t speak, Kaleb was finally incensed,
"President, if you still remain silent and let that wedding happen, then you wouldn’t only lose her, but your own biological children as well."
Tristan finally looked up, "What did you say?" He asked with a deep frown.
Kaleb sighed deeply, then placed the last envelope he was holding onto the desk. It was the DNA reports Tristan instructed him to conduct before going to the Rowena islands. The reports had long since arrived at Tristan’s mansion, but he hadn’t been there to see it. Kaleb had found it today as he was sent on an errand to the mansion to grab some essential things for his boss, it had been kept on the bedside table and Kaleb had almost missed it but luckily came across it while grabbing some keys in the drawers, he immediately knew what it was seeing the name of the lab on the envelope.
For some reason, Kaleb felt like somewhere inside, Tristan knew what the test results would be. Was that why he’d avoided it? He might have instructed him to conduct the test, but quietly Tristan avoided it, didn’t ask about it because deep inside he knew what the results would be. But what Kaleb didn’t understand was why Tristan avoided the feelings in his heart so much?
Why was he running from it this desperately?
Tristan was a bit hesitant, but he slowly pulled over the envelope Kaleb handed him.
"Boss, according to the DNA results, that little girl at the hospital is your biological daughter."
Tristan’s head swung up to look at Kaleb in shock.
