"Somebody help!" Young shouted to the top of her lungs as she tried to pull Rusty out of danger. She didn't know they were inside of a dungeon and still hoped someone might actually come save them, but that didn't happen.

"Mom, do something! He's bleeding out!" Mayhem cried when she noticed how pale Rusty's face had become, but Young didn't move.

Young was frozen in fear, but not for the gruesome wound her companion just suffered or by the considerable amount of blood that stained the murky waters. The reason why she froze was that she noticed three more shadows lurking from beneath the waters, slowly creeping towards them.

"We... we need to run..." Young muttered, but her legs refused to obey.

"We can't leave him like this, he's going to die... for real!" Mayhem rebuked and hurried in front of her mother to cover her from the nearing cryptids.

"Just go, I'll be fine..." Rusty muttered, but his words were cut short by him spitting a mouthful of blood. While his missing leg was the most noticeable wound, the internal bleeding caused by the violent twists and turns the cryptid took with him on his maw was the actual problem.

As soon as he coughed up blood he knew he was done for, without a medic and proper equipment, the only fate that waited for him was death.

"Shut up, you moron!" Mayhem shouted with a crooked smirk, her eyes brimming with flux energy. While her mother hated all sorts of violence, Mayhem loved it more than anything and she was actually excited to face those creatures. "Come on, I'll give you some."

Mayhem placed her arms to the sides while channeling flux and then moved her hands forward with great effort. It looked as though she was trying to lift an incredible amount of weight, but there was nothing in her hands and it was only one of the consequences of activating her trait.

Small smarks gave way to a myriad of firecracker explosions that appeared all over in front of her. She had absolutely no control over number or direction of the explosions and could only control their power by feeding her trait with a determined amount of flux energy.

Water and mud splashed all over the place and a cloud of pulverized water caused something similar to a mist. "Yes!" She exclaimed with a cocky grin thinking she had defeated the enemies, though contrary to her expectations they were pretty much unscathed and the only thing she managed with her attack was to reveal their disfigured appearances.

"They're monster rank!" Young warned once she saw how easily they shrugged off the attacks. Now, without the cover of the water, the cryptids lunged forward with the help of their long tails and all seemed lost, but they were shot mid way by Uriel who just arrived on scene. For once, their huge size was a good thing since that made it impossible for Uriel to miss a single bullet.

"Corporal Young, let go of him now." Were the first words he said as soon as he noticed his condition.

"I won't! He's injured!" She said as she hugged him even tighter.

"You're killing him, instead of lifting his chest you should lift his legs and keep him warm." He replied thinking on Lamar's hunting manual. It was mostly garbage, but it did contain incredible emergency treatment advice.

"Oh..."

"Where have you been you useless lieutenant!? Rusty is almost dead and it's all your fault." Mayhem growled at Uriel, who didn't hesitate to push her when she came too close for comfort.

"You're scared of me aren't you!? You sissy!"

"You only made things worse with your trait. You should have fought melee."

"Against a monster rank cryptid!? I'm only an evolved." She muttered the words Uriel despised so much.

"Only an evolved? I hated when people said that about me when I was an evolved, but you know... even evolved can kill entity level cryptids by themselves under the right circumstances." After saying those words Uriel focused on treating Rusty's wounds by applying a tourniquet and checking his condition.

It was bad, but it was also a fortunate thing for Uriel since he now had an excuse to stay in the dungeon until the Letieche he killed vanished.

"You're just spouting nonsense now. Everyone knows a single hunter killing an entity rank cryptid is impossible, even for most heavenly ranks." Mayhem scoffed, not knowing that Uriel did kill an entity rank cryptid when he was an evolved and that there was evidence that refuted her statement not too far away.

"Whatever, go make yourself useful and find some dry land." He replied, not caring to prove her wrong.

Finding a dry spot was difficult, but it was worth the effort since it allowed them to make a campfire which heped Rusty's condition. After a couple hours, Uriel left the unit with the excuse of patrolling to go and grab the entity flux orb left behind by the Letieche. With that done, Uriel was ready to lead the unit outside and be done with them altogether.

They were incredibly powerful for their ranks, but so far they've been nothing but trouble. Especially that Rusty guy who didn't stop complaining the whole way back and even when during his treatment at the medical facility.

"Good job, lieutenant Sage. You not only managed to accomplish the mission, but you came back with all your soldiers alive." Cassandra said after receiving the report. " You may come to my office later to get your reward."

"Pass..."

"Well, the army will certainly appreciate it if you refused the credits, but I'm afraid you'll still need to turn the orbs you got."

"What!? But I got them fair and square!" He was so taken aback his voice was almost a wheeze.

"This isn't the Cryptid hunting agency. Even if you're a volunteer, you were on a military sanctioned mission with army personel and gear which means all the loot belongs to the army."

Disgruntled, Uriel followed Cassandra to her office and handed over the beast rank orbs he obtained, silently praising himself for keeping the existence of the letieche a secret from everyone in his unit.

'I bet Medusa will be happy when I come back with a new entity rank orb.' He thought as he directed his gaze to the west, where he knew his friends were waiting for his return.
