Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 577: King or two queens part 1
A couple days in a five stars hotel was more than the average hunter could ever dream of. Luxurious rooms, fancy meals and the helpful staff always ready to fulfill any and every of their client's needs. Unfortunately, it was also enough to drive Uriel into the verge of insanity as he witnessed his funds decreasing at an alarming rate, but Jon insisted it was necessary.
"I can't believe this people, they fart and then expect a tip." Uriel grumbled after giving a modest tip to the man who store they luggage in the trunk of a car so expensive looking it couldn't possibly be called a taxi.
"What are you fumbling about? It's only obvious to pay for services." Jon scoffed as he climbed inside the car.
"Speaking of paying for services, you went overboard with all your spending." Uriel glared at the man sitting next to him.
"I only did what needed to be done. Getting our hands in so much serum would have been impossible without raising alarms if not for the hotel staff, not just that, they also contacted the city government on our behalf to let the zeppelin land."
"I'm not saying it was a bad idea, they were really helpful and I don't dislike the idea of hotels being so willing to help with anything as long as you have the money. What I'm saying is you could have restrained your spending," Uriel pointed at the long receipt that listed the charges in chronological order.
"I don't even know what kind of scotch can cost 5k credits, but I can say for sure it wasn't needed or even worth it."
"Now you're speaking nonsense." Jon spoke offended and they continued arguing all the way to the airport where the zeppelin was already landing.
"Anything to report?" Uriel asked looking through the closed window making Jon doubt whether Uriel was actually speaking on the phone, though his doubts were cleared when a soft voice replied.
"Nothing of note, everyone is waiting for your arrival." Nika opened the door for Uriel.
"Bloody hell, how did you manage to sense her before I did?" A startled Jon said in disbelief.
"You're getting old." Uriel said with a smirk as he stepped down the vehicle.
In other times, the airport would have been a busy mess with many flights arriving and taking off at the same time. There were even people in charge of making sure the schedules were as efficient as possible. Nowadays barely any ships landed in them and they functioned more as hangars and warehouses than flight terminals.
The walls had been reinforced with alloy to protect the ships and valuables stored by their clients and most of the staff were actually hunters working as security.
All of this explained why the Pegasus was the only ship arriving on that day and also why the entire landing bay was clear, though as soon as the landing ramp touched ground people climbed down and formed a line.
Uriel inspected them with a genuine smile on his face appreciating their newfound discipline until he noticed something off.
Medusa was in front of the the Armstrong men and Stella, the former helped with hauling cargo and the latter as an engineer; Miss Dragonfang remained in front of the crew; Luna was in front of a couple field medics and for some strange reason the maid was also behind her; but that wasn't what shook Uriel. It was the fact that the most disciplined person he knew was breaking the formation.
Tate remained by the side, his military stance so impeccable it made Uriel thought it was everybody else that lined up in the wrong formation. It wasn't until the man approached him that he understood the reason why he wasn't in the formation.
"Lieutenant Sage, I thank you for taking me here safely, but you already dismissed me and if you allow it I'd like to resume my duties and present myself at the nearest barrack, Sir!"
"You don't have to be so formal with me, I consider you like a friend," Uriel said while secretly checking the system to check if the nearby friend count changed, it didn't. "I get that you want to go back to the army, but why are you in such a hurry?"
"If I may speak freely, I'm worried about general Sword." Tate said scratching his manly square jaw.
"You shouldn't be, she's a heavenly rank hunter and also a hybrid, like myself." Luna said coldly.
"Aren't you worried about your sister? She might be a heavenly rank hunter, but she's not immortal. I don't mind to send a small group in the Pegasus to search for her in the surroundings." Said Uriel trying to hide the fact that he just wanted to save some money by sending the Pegasus away while they stayed in the city.
"Uhm... no, she's competent enough to stay alive. Besides, we belong to different packs now. She chose the army and I chose you." Luna didn't break eye contact with Uriel as she spoke. The fact that she didn't mention the company and spoke directly to Uriel wasn't missed by the crew and a few began to murmur.
If Luna was flustered, no one would have been able to know if not for her face slowly turning beet red.
"Ahem, we now have a few free days. You can spend them however you want, but if you're not here when we depart you may consider yourselves fired." Nika clapped her hands and dismissed the crew, though Tate remained in place.
"Tate, I know you're worried, but it's not safe for me to go out there with my hand in this state," Uriel showed his bandaged stump that after being treated was regenerating into a full hand. "I also have a few things I need to do here and we need to restock our supplies. After that, we'll be free to track Cassandra's whereabouts, I'm worried about her too."
"Hey, Winnie! Look at this!" Jon waved his hand at Medusa who flushed in bright red.
"Uncle! You know I don't like being called by my name in front of my friends! Also, I can't see anything."
"Woops, my bad. It's just that I'm recovering properly now and wanted to share my happiness with my cute niece. By the way, there's something you need to hear. Uriel... hmpf, grrr, ack." Jon's sentence was cut short when Uriel grabbed on the bandages to choke the holy rank hunter who couldn't reach him with just one hand.
Uriel's heavenly rank strength shouldn't have been enough to cause him any harm, but Jon's condition was still far from normal.
"I don't get it, tell me please." Medusa tilted her head.
To spare himself the embarrassment, Uriel decided it was best if he told Medusa what happened and since Seiren was there, he knew he wouldn't get away with a lie.
"It's nothing, at the hotel's reception they asked me a weird question and I said 'king' and this jerk hasn't stopped making fun of me about it saying I tried to sleep with him. How would I know that two queens meant two beds?" Uriel grumbled as it brought back memories of a certain handsome man he didn't want to see ever again.
"You're no fun." A wry smile appeared on his face when Uriel ruined the joke he wanted to make.
Most of the crew, including Phlox and Dragonfang, were already on their way to spend their well earned salary in the city. They didn't know what awaited for them in the future, but Nika explained them they would most likely use the zeppelin as their headquarters from now on and they doubted they would have many chances of making use of their money.
Luna decided she wanted to tag along with Uriel, but shockingly Medusa decided to go her own way. Just as she was getting ready to leave, someone came close.
"Miss Medusa, do you mind if I accompany you?" Tate's deep voice resounded.
"I'm flattered, but I'm not available right now." She replied earnestly. In her experience, it was better to turn down men before they got any ideas or they would only start doing crazy stuff to gain her attention.
"It's not that," Tate scratched his chin awkwardly then continued. "I lost all my belongings in the dungeon and don't have any money to pay for the ride and I wondered if you would be so kind as to help me out. I will pay you back as soon as I withdraw some money."
"Why did you ask me instead of Uriel?"
"I respect the lieutenant almost as much as I respect the flag, but I know him well enough to know he'd rather lose the other hand than lend any money. Miss Nika always disappears and the tiny lady scares me."
"It makes sense... sure, come with me." Medusa replied and started walking on the wrong direction.
"Would it be fine if I guide you?"
