Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 768: The big secret Part 6
Sam was able to recover from the wounds as fast as they were inflicted on him, but the pain became so sharp he couldn't possibly ignore them anymore.
"I can help him, just give me the chance." Sam said.
"Why should we believe you?"
"Because, I risked my own life by coming here. Also, the cryptid is not dead." Sam hurriedly said.
"He was split in half by a flux infused skill, that would kill most if not all cryptids." Luna rebuked.
"And yet his skill is still in place. Just, please... let me do this for him." Sam insisted.
"Do it." Nika and Luna both hesitated, but Bella didn't and she placed herself in between Sam and her friends.
Sam placed his hand on Uriel's wounds and a shimmering cyan light burst out closing his wounds on the spot.
"He's breathing on his own, but he's still unconscious." Luna informed, though being at a distant that was all she was able to gather from his condition.
At that moment Nika wanted more than anything to kick Sam's ass into oblivion, but now that she was more calm she realized that if she couldn't when she was at her best, now that she was stuck in the eerily still water and tired from the fight her chances were slim to none. That is why she decided to limit herself to keep an eye on Sam's actions.
He kept still in the air, holding Uriel's mouth above the water level so he could breath more comfortably and without so much as taking his eyes off from him, Sam extended his arm towards the merman king before speaking.
"Close your eyes, this will be bright. Smite." The last word triggered a brimming beam of light that went through the cryptid's flux orb, killing it on the spot and releasing everyone from their watery prison.
After the violent flash of light, neither Sam nor the fishing spear were seen anywhere making them question the reality of what they just saw with their own eyes.
Of all people Sam was the least person they expected to see in Europe. Even more shocking was the fact that he helped them. Despite things becoming much better after Sam's intervention, they were still surrounded by cryptids far more powerful than they seemed and Nika decided their best course of action was to retreat.
Bella took it upon herself to guide the group across the small peninsula while Luna activated her trait in short bursts to blind their enemies and gain more ground on them. Uriel was already waking up when they reached the cave and Alice placed him softly on the stone polished stone.
"Did he really come?" Asked Uriel who received a positive answer by everyone. "why did you let him go?"
"What did you want us to do? Spit at him? We were trapped and helpless." Nika snarled.
"And how exactly are things better now?" Uriel glared at her after noticing many cryptids swarming the cave entrance.
"Shit!" Nika said and although Luna hated when people cursed, she joined in.
"Indeed." She said with an aloof expression on her face.
Nika grabbed her Peacemaker and proceeded to open fire towards the general direction of the exit. The enemies being so many, missing a shot was actually more difficult than hitting them.
Without much of a choice, the group ventured deeper inside the cave that seemingly became darker with each passing second, though Luna's trait came in handy as they were now able to see as clear as day, only not so far as they would have wished.
They passed the polished stone ground, the stone staircases until they reached the point where no human activity could be found anymore, but that lasted only until they reached a place filled with bones, human bones.
"We're trapped! There's no way out!" Bella shouted.
"Fuck my life." Uriel snarled as his breath became heavy due to the physical strain on his body.
"Uhm... this isn't the best time or place to engage in sexual activities, but since we may not have another chance..." Luna spoke, but Uriel cut her short.
"That's not it, this is a dungeon's entrance. Look behind you." Uriel pointed at a few carvings on the wall that read 'The many become the few and the few become the one.' which sounded awfully similar to some of Soulfire's blabberings about souls.
"We're saved!" Nika let out.
"Only if we find how to open the gate." Uriel said as he activated Dash, only to have his skill fizzle out due to lack of flux energy.
Everyone turned to look for hints anywhere and everywhere, Nika even mustering the courage to move past the piles of bones despite her being deathly afraid of them somehow coming back to life.
"Are you sure this is an entrance?" Asked Alice whose knowledge about dungeons was limited to say the least, but to the rest of the group it didn't even cross their minds to doubt Uriel's words as he had proven more than enough times that he knew what he was talking about.
Luna moved around the walls in a counterclock wise direction illuminating the walls with her hands while Uriel went the other way doing the same with his gas lantern, leaving Nika to check the ground and Bella the cave ceiling.
"I found something!" Shouted Bella who pointed at a hole in the ceiling. There was nothing out of the ordinary about it, other than the fact that its rim was perfectly smooth rather than jagged.
"Can you take me up there?" Asked Uriel as he extended his arms towards Bella who pulled him up, then lifted him above her with her arms. Despite Bella's trait allowing her to manipulate air to fly, she still felt his weight and had trouble remaining still.
"It's a keyhole." Uriel informed.
"Well, where's the fucking key? Those things are coming any minute now." Asked Nika, though the answer didn't come from Uriel's mouth.
"Right here." Said Hathaway as he stepped in with the merman king's fishing spear on his hand.
