Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 975: Zeus almighty Part 1
Chapter 975: Zeus almighty Part 1
The aftermath of the impromptu meteorite fist performed by Uriel could be confirmed by everyone at the scene. The impact left a crater and lifted a cloud of dust that could have killed people in a three block radius, especially since Uriel added some momentum with his own flux energy with the help of his wings which meant it was also deadly to cryptids.
Unfortunately to Uriel and to most witnessing the scene, that didn’t apply to gods and Zeus stood not long after receiving the full brunt of the attack. Whether he regenerated or if he just came out unscathed was not clear, but Uriel had yet to fully recover from the damage his own reckless move caused him.
Zeus moved in the proverbial blink of an eye and picked up Uriel like a stray cat on the streets. He sized him up while confirming with his own divine eyes that the human had somehow transcended the limits of humanity without breaking into the divine realm, something unusual yet not unheard of as there were many like him. Atsa was one among them, but there were others that for one reason or another had refused to reach the highest rank and sought their own path instead.
"You... I’ve seen you before. Could you be one of my own?" Zeus asked unsure whether to be proud or annoyed. For a human of that level to land a fist on him was already a feat worthy of epic tales, but to survive the consequences was a whole new level that may grant him entry to mount Olimpus.
"What kind of a man who one needs to be to not recognize your own children." Uriel sneered with disrespect.
Had Luna been there she would have warned him beforehand, but it took her some time to reach ground level and she only got there in time to explain.
"It should be easier to count the sons Zeus has not had rather than the ones he’s had." She informed the least informative aspects like usual, then she turned to Zeus. "could you let my friend go?"
"What is wrong with this one?" Zeus asked more to himself than to his enemies whom he didn’t consider to be worthy of speaking to.
"Luna, please!" Medusa rushed in to step in front of Zeus as if to protect him from the tiny huntress leaving the almighty god of lightning even more dazed.
"But..." Luna attempted to rebuke, but Medusa was not having it and promptly shoved a finger to her face waving it profusely.
"You can’t do anything shameful to him, he’s my grampa."
"Is that old man your grampa or the god within? I’m confused now." Luna let out, her monotone ever more annoying.
"I’m not sure..." Medusa also didn’t know the answer. She knew that Walter had been to Medusa’s lair many times in the past and that he was way older than she thought, but there was also the fact that it wasn’t health what kept him bound to his zeppelin but rather that he was hiding.
Watching the awkward interactions between the hunters in front of a divinity that was considered the king of the gods, Nika felt left out and wanted to be part of it and she attempted to communicate with Walter. freewёbnoνel.com
"What’s up, old man." Nika smiled and this time the god answered.
"Know your place, woman." Zeus tossed Uriel to the side like he was nothing then lifted up his mighty arm with a lightning bolt in his hand. Despite being made of plasma, the lightning bolt was solid and it was surrounded by electricity that somehow remained tethered to the bolt itself.
It was a marvelous phenomenon Medusa would have loved to study, but it was also incredibly dangerous and she reacted by trying to petrify Zeus, though for the divine king of the gods it was nothing more than a mean glare. Luna swiftly shifted into her lycanthrope form and she clung to Zeus arm and despite her heavy set body and powerful limbs, she could not even deviate Zeus’ arm from pointing the projectile at Nika.
At that moment, Uriel sprung from the ground and rushed over to Nika kicking her with both legs to send her away in order to receive the lightning bolt himself. It felt just like the time he was struck by lightning when he stepped out of the ship without knowing about Zeus’ curse, only ten times worse. Contrary to back then, this time Uriel was able to regenerate fully without even the need to rest which left Zeus both impressed by his ability and also amused by his behavior.
"Why did you do that?" Zeus pointed at Nika who was buried beneath a pile of debris, her forehead bleeding due to the excessive force Uriel used to save her.
"You don’t get to hit my friends..."
"That’s right, tell him!" Nika muttered while struggling to get back on her feet.
"Only I get to do that." Uriel continued leaving Nika confused for a moment.
"I know you mean well in wanting to save this city, but I need their souls to challenge the titans. You are over your head as this matter only concerns the gods, but I find you amusing and I will show mercy and let you all leave, as long as you show your gratitude by bending the knee right this second." Zeus declared as he crossed his arms, his figure remaining the same size and yet it became oppressively bigger in the eyes of those who looked at him. His divine presence manifested through the vessel that was Walter Works whom despite being just a mortal man was worshiped by humanity due to his technological breakthroughs. To say Zeus was at his prime would be to put it lightly as he was also now empowered by the electricity of the power grid of the city that acted as his own battery reserve.
"Save this city?" Uriel looked at the god with genuine curiosity. "I don’t like this city, I don’t even like humans that much, but I hate hypocrisy even more."
"Hypocrisy?" Zeus rubbed his chin with a pensive hand.
"You’ve kept the gods from intervening in human society, but you don’t have any qualms in meddling in our affairs. Of all the gods, you’re the one who’s messed around the most, you’re also nosy and I don’t like you. You’re offering me mercy? I’ll do you one better, let me punch you on the face one more time and I’ll let you go. It’s the best deal I can offer you after what you did to my friends... and our ship." Uriel said the last part after seeing the poor state of the Pegasus with the corner of his eye, though he wasn’t immediately mad as he also noticed the crew had managed to escape before it crashed.
Zeus laughed merrily at Uriel’s deranged attitude, finding him more and more interesting with every passing second. On the one hand, he showed up like a hero of the old times and challenged not just any god but Zeus himself, but on the other he was too casual and wicked to be considered a hero by anyone’s standards. It was puzzling, but in a sense it also answered all the questions Zeus had in his mind as he understood the reason why Uriel could never reach the realm of divinity.
"Have it your way, then." It seemed as though Zeus had accepted Uriel’s challenge which is why he flinched when the god of lightning flicked his fingers, though in reality it was only a gesture and it didn’t carry a hint of flux energy. However, that didn’t mean the gesture itself was harmless as the gods present showed up on the spot. They weren’t mystically summoned or anything of the sorts, they just followed the command fearing the consequences of disobedience, because unlike Uriel they knew what Zeus was capable of.
Each of the gods present chose their opponent as though they had rehearsed it, though it was only due to their like or dislike of the hunters they chose. For Lamar it was the former as he had a special relationship with Luna even after becoming possessed by the god of wine Bachus, but for all the others it was pure dislike. Especially Athena whose hate came from the bronze age after she betrayed Winona’s mother, Medusa.
The atmosphere was dense and not just due to the tall walls that had their own weather, but rather because of the flux energy that would have caused any non hunter to die on the spot and become a pillar of salt. Thankfully, the Dungeon Raiders had surrounded themselves with a thin layer of their own flux energy which isolated them from the oppressing presence of the gods.
It was helpful as it prevented them from dying on the spot and it also helped them keep their sanity even when in front of such absurd beings as the gods, but it was just that and it did nothing to protect them against actual attacks such as Ares’ spear that pierced right through Nika’s chest.
