Chapter 200: 200: Welcome to Season 10

Fleet Commander Lerian stood at the window of his council room, looking down at the blue planet below the fleet. He watched the swirling clouds glide slowly across the surface. There were areas spreading darkly, appearing as if ink spilled on parchment. The dark gray clouds were growing in size.

Frowning at the spreading dark clouds, he called the bridge to scan the planet for anomalies. "Officer Remmy, scan the planet. Something doesn’t look right. Scan it, then report back to me immediately," he ordered.

There was silence for several moments while the officer scanned the planet. The small speaker suddenly crackled, and then Officer Remmy reported in. "Sir, something is happening. There are multiple mountains exploding with fire. The planet is shaking, causing large plates to shift."

Fleet Commander Lerian didn’t like the sound of it. Gritting his teeth, he gave his order. "Prepare for the planet’s evacuation. The numbers in each dome are listed inside the dome’s roster computer. Make sure everyone has a place to go. I’m calling Council Leader Vorik."

"Yes, sir," Officer Remmy responded, then the communications went silent.

Pressing the communications for Council Leader Vorik, he added the code for emergency. "Council Leader Vorik. The planet has become unstable. I’m preparing the mother ship for the evacuation of the planet. Please respond with what you’re experiencing," he asks. He couldn’t tell from the fleet if the population could feel the change in the blue planet’s environment.

There were several moments of silence before the communications crackled. It sounded like it struggled to get a signal. The speech was broken as Council Leader Vorik responded. "We are experiencing earth shifts. It’s affecting the domes’ integrity," Council Leader Vorik responded. He was breathing heavily like he had been running.

"Sir, the earth shifts are over the entire planet. Mountains are spitting up fire on all sides of the globe on every land mass. There appears to be an area in the water that is also spitting up fire. I recommend evacuation of the planet until we discover how serious it is, sir. From above the planet, it looks like the planet is breaking apart."

"Send large passenger shuttles. We will start the evacuation now. Send them to all the domes. Scan the earth for life. If there are humans still hiding, we need to get them to safety," Council Leader Vorik ordered.

"Yes, sir!" Lerian responded, clicking off communication.

Rushing out of his council chambers, he headed for the hangars to get the passenger shuttles to the surface. His instincts told him there was very little time to evacuate the planet.

Council Leader Vorik closed the communications and then rushed into his council chamber. Pressing several buttons on the panel, he began the alerts. Doing a dome-wide alert, he let the warning lights flash before getting on the holo-screen. "All citizens in the domes, please make your way to the shuttle landing pad. Passenger shuttles have been dispatched to take you to the mother ship. The planet is experiencing severe shifts, and there are multiple mountains across the planet that are spitting fire. We need to get everyone to the ships for safety. Once the danger is clear, we will return. It is important that no one is left behind. The domes are losing their integrity. It isn’t safe to stay behind. All citizens of the domes report to the shuttle’s landing pad immediately. Shuttles are on their way."

Closing the communications, Council Leader Vorik sent the message to all the domes before rushing to his own home to make sure Alice and the twins got to the landing pad safely.

As the message appeared in multiple areas of the dome, the lights still flashing, Vorik rushed through the city. Crowds of people made their way either home to collect what they needed with them or toward the shuttle’s landing pad.

The ground shook with each step. Screams were heard as the severe quakes shook the ground, making it unstable. Many people fell to the ground as a result of the quakes and had to struggle to stand upright again before continuing to the landing pad.

The guards in the prison had chained the prisoners and escorted them through the city. The prisoners looked around them with wide eyes as they got their first sight of the city since their arrival at the prison.

Council Leader Vorik knew that the shuttles would need to take more than one trip to evacuate the domes. He would be last, but Alice would be on the first shuttle with the twins if he could help it. It was his job to ensure that everyone made it to one of the shuttles for the evacuation, forcing him to stay behind.

The dome shook again, the sky lighting up. He looked up. The plasma dome protecting the city flickered and then evaporated. Vorik gritted his teeth. The city was no longer protected from the fire shooting across the sky.

Finally making it to his dwelling, he rushed through the door. Alice was quickly placing the twins in carriers, stress in her features. He quickly picked up one carrier in each hand, and with Alice with him, they headed for the landing pad.

"Is there enough room for everyone on one of the passenger shuttles?" she asked. Her face was pale with fear.

"No, we have to go in multiple shuttles. They will most likely need to make several trips. Fleet Commander Lerian is sending shuttles to all the domes. You’re getting on the first one. I have to stay and make sure no one is left behind," he told her as they rushed toward the landing pad.

When they reached the landing pad, there were multiple shuttles already there. One was on the landing pad, and five more were standing by. Only one shuttle fit on the landing pad at once.

With Alice with him, they rushed up the ramp. She went inside the shuttle; Vorik went with her but only to set the two infant carriers beside her. Vorik gently kissed Alice, then the twins, before he rushed back out again, leaving her inside with the twins.

Niki, with Trei beside her, holding baby Drake, entered the shuttle. Aleigha, with Finn in her arms, was with her sister. "Where is Drevick," Aleigha asked Vorik as he passed.

"He’s helping with the prisoners," he told her in a rush. "You need to get inside the shuttle. Alice is in there; stay with her."

Aleigha nodded and then quickly entered the shuttle.

Council Leader Vorik scanned the dome. It was in chaos. Everyone was rushing to the landing pad. Guards were helping them in, making sure everyone was seated and strapped in.

As the shuttle’s engine roared, Vorik looked up and watched it lift into the sky and soar toward space. He felt relief, seeing his family going to safety. Once it was gone, the next shuttle landed, and it started all over again.

The dome shook as another quake rippled through, and everyone rushing to the landing pad had to stop to steady themselves so they didn’t fall. As soon as the movement ended, they rushed forward again.

Verion passed by with his twin Ver and her mate Miles. Mikiel was with him. They were helping patients from the clinic to make their way to the shuttles. A group of medics was behind them. Medic Renn’s mate, Renk, was carrying a large bag of medical equipment while the medics pressed forward with patients unable to walk themselves.

Light flashed above. Vorik looked up. A fireball flew through the sky, landing just outside the dome, erupting like a bomb.

Vorik pulled out his comm link. "Get more shuttles ready, now; we’re running out of time!" he called through the small device.

"Doing it now, sir," Fleet Commander Lerian responded. "We’re sending shuttles to remote areas of the globe also. There are humans hiding in the mountains. We need to get all life off of the planet," he said in a rush. "The conditions are worsening quickly. The water’s rising, and there are city-size waves heading toward the land masses."

"Noted," Vorik blurted as he rushed through the city. He needed to make sure they didn’t forget anyone.

Stopping at a panel near the clinic, he pressed several buttons and then plugged his wrist com into the socket. Downloading the information he needed, he yanked it out and then pressed the small screen. The roar of an engine sounded, making him look up. It was another shuttle leaving the dome.

Looking back at his wrist com, it showed all dwellings and structures empty, so he rushed back toward the landing pad. When he got there, he noted that it was the last shuttle. He rushed up to it before the doors closed. "Wait!" he yelled to the pilot. "Once everyone is in, I need to make sure no one is still in the city!"

The pilot nodded, his features tight. He knew they were running out of time and needed to leave. He then waited for the order to ascend and head back to the ship.

Once everyone was inside, Council Leader Vorik checked his wrist com. There was one person still in the city. "There’s still someone in there. I need to get them. Don’t leave until I give the order."

The pilot nodded again as Vorik left the shuttle, following the directions of the wrist comm. When he found the target on his wrist comm, it was a server who had twisted her ankle during the last quake. She was one of the few humans that worked in the tavern. She couldn’t walk.

Picking her up, he rushed back to the shuttle. She looked at him, tears in her eyes. "You came back for me?" she sobbed. "I thought I was going to be left behind."

"The last shuttle is waiting for us," he told her, running toward the landing pad.

"Thank you," she sobbed. Tears streamed down her face. Vorik knew she had been terrified.

Rushing up the ramp to the shuttle, the door closed. "Make a pass at the other domes. I need to make sure we got everyone!" he yelled to the pilot.

The shuttle made a wide arc heading toward the domes. Using his wrist comm, he adjusted it to pick up life in the domes they were passing. The Kreq dome was empty, and so was the Ramesian. The Human Dome had two people inside.

"There are still two inside the human dome," he called up to the pilot.

The pilot flew toward it, hovering over the opening. He smoothly lowered the shuttle onto the landing pad. Following the directions of the wrist comm, Vorik got out of the shuttle and ran toward the target his wrist comm showed him. Vorik was thankful that both humans were in the same location.

When Vorik reached the target, he found that it was two human children. Two small females around the ages of five and seven. One, the youngest of the two, was on the ground, injured from something that fell on her. The older one stood protectively over her, trying to help her to stand.

Picking the injured one up, Vorik carefully pulled her over his shoulder, then picked the older one up and ran toward the landing platform. The door was open. So it was a straight shot.

"Medic!" he yelled. "This child is injured." Vorik gently set the two girls down as a medic broke away from the group and headed for the two girls. The shuttle door slid closed, and it rose into the sky.

The pilot passed by the last dome, Vorik scanning it. He sighed in relief when he found there was no indication of life. He could tell they needed to get off the planet, or they would not survive.

"Head to the ship!" Vorik called up to the pilots. The shuttle leveled out before speeding into the sky. Stars appeared as they grew higher, passing the planet’s atmosphere and into space.

The shuttle flew into the open hangar bay door of the mothership. As Council Leader Vorik exited the shuttle, Fleet Commander Lerian rushed toward him.

"We’re moving away from the planet, Sir," he breathed. He had clearly been running. "Follow me!"

Council Leader Vorik followed the fleet commander as he ran through the halls and corridors of the ship until they reached the bridge of the ship. The doors slid open, and he ran in. "Connect the fleet," Fleet Commander Lerian ordered. Make sure the disks are far enough away from the planet. We need to connect the fleet and get farther away from the planet!"

Bridge officers immediately went to work. Outside the large window of the bridge, the battle cruisers could be seen taking their place as they attached to the giant mothership. It had broken apart during the invasion for the purpose of pinpointing small areas at once around the globe. They never reassembled it when it was finished.

Fleet Commander Lerian pointed to the planet. "Cracks are forming in the crust of the planet. The planet is about to destroy itself. We have two more shuttles on the surface. They found a small city that they are still trying to empty out. No one is being left behind. Once they get here, we need to get to a safe distance away from the blast. The pressure in the planet’s core is breaking it apart. It’s going to explode."

They watched through the large window as the fleet became one massive ship. The Kreq disks had already moved away but remained in view of the mother ship. From the planet, two passenger shuttles were seen racing toward the ship. Their engines were at full power. One of them had an engine that was shooting smoke out the back. Something had hit them, causing damage.

The hangar bay doors opened, and the two ships glided inside. A team of men rushed to the damaged shuttle to stop the flaming engine from getting worse. They sprayed a plasma foam barrier over it, snuffing out the smoke and flame.

As the large hangar bay doors closed, the massive mother ship began to move away from the planet.

As they quickly glided farther into space, everyone watched in horror as the planet erupted, blowing into bits. There was an asteroid field in its place.
