Eater Blade: Grinding in Apocalypse-Chapter 47: REUNION IN THE STORM — FRIEND OR FOE? PART 2.
Chapter 47: REUNION IN THE STORM — FRIEND OR FOE? PART 2.
The rain pounded harder, sheets of water whipping sideways in the wind. The street was a graveyard of steaming meat. Crimson rivers sluiced into potholes and broken drains as Johnquis and Dancer cut through the waves of Eaters, fighting back to back.

Johnquis caught his chains, breath fogging in the downpour. He muttered,
"Sector 6... Always lives up to its name. The most infested hellhole out here."
Savier’s shout cracked through the storm. He sprang forward, boots splashing through puddles toward a cluster of Eaters crawling over a flipped bus, their eyes locked on him like dogs scenting fresh meat.
Savier winked at them. "Alright, you freaks — who wants to get banged hard and sliced up fast, huh?"
They leapt at once. Savier dashed forward, foot planting on the side of the bus. His boots found traction where none should exist. He ran along the bus’s rusted side like it was a dance floor, pumping shots as he went:
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Each blast turned another Eater into chunks.
Halfway down the bus, he vaulted off, tucked his legs, spun a full flip, and came down blades-first on one last crawler that had tried to sneak him from below. The hybrid blade sank through its skull to the gums.
He pulled the blade out, cocked the shotgun chamber one-handed, and blew a kiss at the next shuffling freak.
"Oops — sorry, sweetheart. You’re not my type!"
BANG!
It toppled like a headless doll.
For a moment, all that was left was the pounding storm and the hiss of rain over steaming Eater corpses. Savier stood in the middle of the carnage, chest heaving, that stitched-up jacket whipping in the wind like a flag stitched from every sin he’d ever loved.
He licked a smear of blood from his cheek, eyes cutting toward where Johnquis and Dancer fought in the rain. His smile curled like a broken smile on a cracked mask.
"Hey, Johnkiss! You gonna stand there gawkin’ all night or come over here and give your best pal a kiss for old time’s sake, huh?"
He twirled the hybrid blade once more, resting it on his shoulder. "Come on — don’t you wanna hug your only friend?"
Johnquis shot him a flat side-eye, jaw tight.
"Focus on the fight, Savier. Or do you want your sick little patches of women torn off again?"
"Oooh, still got that sharp tongue. I freakin’ missed that..." Savier licked his lips, eyes glinting like a wolf’s.
Lightning crackled above. The rain fell harder. And Savier, in that hell of blood and thunder, threw his head back and howled laughter into the storm.
The wind howled through the hollow towers as the last wave boiled out from every crack in the concrete. Dozens of Eaters, some crawling on all fours, others charging like lunatics set loose. They swarmed over rusted cars, splashed through the flooded street, jaws snapping in the downpour.
Savier spun his hybrid blade in a lazy circle, "Well, well — the grand finale buffet! Ain’t you ugly bastards generous tonight!"
He darted forward, sliding across a slick, flooded crosswalk. He hopped onto a toppled traffic pole, ran up it like a tightrope, shotgun roaring:
BANG! BANG!
Heads burst below him as he balanced with arms wide, laughing at the sky.
On the opposite side, Johnquis lunged through the horde — a flash of chain and shadows. He hooked an Eater’s jaw, pulled it into another’s throat, then slammed the chain down to crush their skulls together. His feet splashed through the knee-high water pooling around a sunken bus.
He shouted over the rain. ""Stay sharp, freakshow! These bastards are hungry!"
Savier flipped off the pole, feet thumping onto the bus roof. He leaned over the edge, covering Johnquis from above.
"Hey, you learned how to swing that chain like a real man, huh? Not like that whiny baby from the dorms!"
Johnquis grunted, twisting his blade free from a skull. "Not the time, Savier. Watch your left!"
"Left? My left’s sexy as hell!"
Savier laughed, spinning — An Eater claw raked across his shoulder. He hissed, turned with a snarl, and rammed the blade straight through its mouth, pumping a shot that lit the bus interior with gore.
They worked the street like a wolf pack, drifting closer as the tide of Eaters pressed tighter.
Johnquis hooked the wreckage of a car door with his chain, swung himself up to Savier’s perch on the bus roof. Their boots slammed side by side, water sloshing off the metal.
Savier laugh, flicking his hybrid blade back to sword mode. "Aw, look at you! Big man now, huh? Didn’t think you had it in you when we shared those moldy noodles in the dorms."
Johnquis swept his chain wide, catching three Eaters’ necks at once and dragging them into Savier’s shotgun line.
"I didn’t. Not until I needed to."
BOOM!
The three heads popped like berries.
Savier leaned close, voice bright through the storm. "Who knew, huh? Little Johnkiss, all grown up. Fast. Sharp. You’d almost make me sweat—"
A shriek cut him off. An Eater jumped onto the bus roof, claws skittering on the wet metal.
Johnquis grabbed its wrist, twisted it into a lock, and smashed its face into the roof. It twitched once.
Savier stared, eyes wide."Oh, oh — I love that. That spine twist. Bet your sister taught you that one, huh?"
Johnquis just grunted, pressing the dead thing down. "Shut up and cover my six."
They leapt from the bus roof together, splashing into the flooded street. A rusted sign swung loose overhead — Savier kicked off a half-buried motorcycle, grabbed the sign and pivoted, flipping himself behind another crawler. freewebnoveℓ.com
"Peekaboo, ugly—!"
BANG!
Johnquis slammed an Eater’s skull into a cracked windshield, chain flicking out to grab a chunk of rebar, using it to block another lunging freak. His footwork was tight, lethal — Savier saw it, and for half a second, he actually stopped firing.
"Hah... Look at you now. You’re faster. You’re— holy shit! You’re actually good now."
Johnquis didn’t even look back. "Try to keep up. Or I’ll leave you behind like last time."
