Chapter 28: Guilty Ivy

She had started to believe in him, but she still didn’t know how he would be able to fight against his fate and come out victorious. His dreams didn’t seem grand to her, as he only wanted to travel the magical world with freedom.

Even if he failed, she could use high-grade treasures and artifacts on him, which could make him strong enough to hold off on his own after she took him as her concubine, and wouldn’t she be there to protect him if the need arose? Around midnight, Arthur jolted awake in his bed with a loud scream.

"NOOO!!!"

He had dreamed about dying by his body being completely crushed by the green-haired elf.

He was sweating, and his head was feeling heavy due to how scary the nightmare was to him. It was as if everything was real, not a dream.

He sat on his bed as he started to recall the events that had transpired before.

’What?’

’How am I not dead? I thought I had died’.

Even his broken arm is completely fine.

He didn’t know what happened, but he is not complaining, and this event has made him realize how weak he actually is in this magical world.

’I don’t know why that green-haired witch hadn’t killed me, but even if I can’t do anything to her, I do hate her to my core for toying with me.’

He is even more resolved to get stronger than ever now, as with his dream, and has one other goal, which is to make that green-haired witch suffer for making him experience so much pain.

"Growl~"

His stomach growled as he felt the hunger he hadn’t noticed due to the intense feelings he was having.

He remembered he hadn’t eaten since yesterday. He quickly got up from his bed and walked toward the door to go to the dining room, where dinner must be prepared. He had seen the time; it was around 10:25 p.m., which means dinner must be over by now, so he quickly reached the door.

Reaching the same door, the realization dawned on him once more that he didn’t have the slave mark that would be used to open the door.

Still, he had to do something, as if he didn’t, the hunger would kill him. He tried to push the door using force, and on his first try, the wooden door opened with a loud sound as it slammed backward, as he had used too much force, thinking it was locked.

He didn’t understand how he was able to open the door, but he didn’t focus on it right now, as he was too hungry to think about it.

As he quickly walked toward the dining hall and reached it, he could see that it was almost empty now, as there were only a few slaves left who were almost done. So without thinking anymore, he quickly took a plate and started to fill up his plate with lots of food. He had filled it with lots of meat and some thick bread. There were other things too, but he didn’t take them due to hunger or because he remembered taking these two things regularly, as it had become a habit to him now.

He took a seat and started eating by stuffing his mouth with food without caring about the unusual looks the elves in charge and even the few slaves who were left there were giving him due to how much food was on his plate and the way he was eating.

He didn’t even try to savor the taste, but it does sound very delicious to him.

Even when he was not aware of himself, Arthur was quite famous inside the mine due to his attractive appearance, both among female elves and the male human slaves, for different reasons.

Female elves, even when they found his behavior quite unusual, still found him very cute, seeing him stuff his mouth with food.

All the other slaves had left by now, but he was just about to start his big meal. The dinner would be over by 10:30, but it was already 10:45 p.m., which meant that if they wanted, they could have kicked him out, but no one did.

Arthur had noticed, but he was too busy eating at the time. So after finishing his meal, he didn’t forget to thank the elves in charge. There were quite a few of them inside the large hall, so he didn’t bother going to each of them.

And said his loud regards before leaving.

"Thank you, all of you, for letting me eat even after the time was up. I was so hungry. I really appreciate you guys."

He left them after saying these words, but not without giving them a light bow and a warm smile.
