Endless Debt-Chapter 979 - 68: Crossing Time and Space
Bologue harbors many secrets, most of which are related to the Astronauts. It is this Devil that has manipulated Bologue’s life and set him on the current path of divergence.
Countless threads bind Bologue’s limbs, extending into the infinite darkness. Bologue knows he is a puppet of the Astronauts, a character under his pen. Yet, Bologue is also seeking opportunities to launch a counterattack against the Devil and drag him down from the darkness.
Bologue never willingly remains just a puppet; he refuses to be confined by anything.
The Alchemy Matrix from Overlord Xilin was once something Bologue considered his key to turning the tables, but now, even this power seems tainted with the Devil’s evil.
Fragmented information pieces together in Bologue’s mind, woven by the Devil into a coherent story.
The Devil fills in the gaps, making the story’s logic seem reasonable.
Why could this faction of the Second Seat, under pressure from the First Seat, obtain such a terrifying Alchemy Matrix? Why did the King’s Secret Sword never again birth such power after Overlord Xilin?
Everything now had a reasonable explanation.
It was the Devil, it was the Devil who bestowed this power, handing over the dreadful Alchemy Matrix.
Perhaps it was obtained through a transaction between the Second Seat and the Astronauts, given to Xilin. After Xilin’s death, this Alchemy Matrix was replicated onto Bologue.
Bologue suddenly realized that it was not the power of his Undying Body that allowed him to successfully implant this Alchemy Matrix, but rather his identity as the Chosen One.
This was originally the power of the Astronauts, transcending the passage of time, delivered into Bologue’s hands.
It was as if a gigantic net had captured everyone from the very beginning, yet Bologue had arrogantly believed he had broken free from its bonds.
"You’ve figured it out, right?"
The Second Seat seemed to sense what Bologue was thinking, and he chuckled mockingly.
"That’s right, the Alchemy Matrix you bear is indeed Leviathan’s masterpiece."
Upon hearing the Second Seat’s confirmation, Bologue’s mind went blank. His gaze dropped to the dark umbilical cord on his abdomen, where sticky, hot tar dripped continuously, emitting waves of putrid stench. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Bologue felt a wave of dizziness, as if the entire world was spinning. The Astronauts’ conspiracy was far more complex than he had imagined, and the dialogues Between Nothingness became absurdly mystifying.
Was what the Astronauts said true? About the Gate of Origin?
What was true and what was false? What should he truly believe?
Bologue felt darkness slowly enveloping him until no light remained.
Born of lies.
Bologue asked, "Why did you..."
"I’m merely mimicking the actions of the Devil," the Second Seat knew what Bologue wanted to ask. "Revealing the real conspiracy, one that you cannot refuse or escape."
"You will be wary of Leviathan, you’ll find ways to break free from this destined fate, you’ll do whatever it takes to fight back against the Devil... and that’s exactly what I want."
The Second Seat understood Leviathan’s way, "And I... I still hold value to Leviathan, he won’t abandon me so easily."
He knew that Oubos was not the battlefield for the King’s Shield Guard, their graveyard was the Kagader Empire, that silent Pillar of Royal Authority.
Leviathan needed the King’s Shield Guard to battle against the King’s Secret Sword and the Crimson Sect to greatly weaken the Crimson Queen’s power in this struggle.
"If you still don’t believe it... one last question, Bologue Lazarus."
The Second Seat revealed a long-hidden, dusty secret from his heart.
"Have you ever wondered why Xilin recklessly plunged in and died in the Cultivation Room?"
Bologue’s pupils shrank, the nightmarish words spilling from the Second Seat’s mouth.
"That’s just part of the price."
The final piece of the puzzle locked into the story, and Bologue felt as if his thoughts were on the verge of exploding.
The shadow of the Astronauts was also behind the secret war. In fact, it was the Astronauts who orchestrated the secret war. The seemingly mad offensive was just an act performed by the Astronauts.
"We were all fooled by Leviathan... the secret war was simply a ludicrous masquerade. His true purpose was to avoid drawing anyone’s attention, in a ’reasonable’ ’natural’ manner, to let Xilin die in the Cultivation Room. After many years, when everyone nearly forgot these matters, Bologue would succeed this power."
The Second Seat propped himself up on his sword hilt and shakily stood up, his expression livid with anger.
"Since the Night of Crimson Blood, Leviathan has been plotting everything. He wants to bypass the scrutiny of all Devils and avoid the notice of any blood kin to create the most perfect Chosen One.
Our deaths, our suffering, our war, were all for such a ridiculous cause."
The Second Seat cursed his name.
"Bologue Lazarus!"
Bologue’s blood ran cold, his muscles and bones stiffened and knotted together, his body frozen like a stone sculpture, unable to move an inch, even the Ether slowed, its movement languid.
Through the Second Seat’s words, Bologue confirmed the conspiracy from start to finish. It was far more complex than he imagined, and what the Astronauts were plotting was far scarier and deeper than he could have ever thought.
It seemed as if everything was destined since the Fall of the Holy City.
