Chapter 38: Three Minutes to Doomsday! The Solaris Kingdom Watches in Despair

Kevin did not wait for her reply.

He immediately turned around and walked straight into the merged reality zone to face the behemoth.

A brilliant, blinding light erupted from his hands as his body digitized into the arena.

"Let’s see how tough you really are!" Kevin shouted as he gathered a massive amount of mana. "Starlight Manifestation!"

Boom!

The mana around him converged and turned into a golden brilliance which manifested as a radiant star sword in his hand.

Kevin dashed forward with explosive speed. He swung the Star Sword in a wide arc, unleashing a terrifying wave of scorching, golden energy directly at the behemoth. The sheer weight of the attack tore a deep trench into the paved asphalt of the street.

Baal’s eyes narrowed slightly. The behemoth raised its massive, still-sheathed sword to block.

Boom!

The shockwave of the collision rattled the surrounding modern buildings, shattering glass windows for blocks. Kevin did not stop. He relentlessly pressed the attack, chaining his skills together in a blinding flurry of golden strikes.

He proved exactly why he was considered the top genius of the Special Class. He evenly matched the behemoth blow for blow. When Baal swung its massive weapon, Kevin parried with a condensed burst of starlight, perfectly deflecting the heavy kinetic force and pushing the monster back.

"Meteor Descent!" Kevin roared, leaping high into the air and bringing his blade crashing down with the gravitational force of a falling star.

The golden blade clashed violently against Baal’s dark sword. For several intense minutes, it truly looked like Kevin was fighting the world boss to an absolute standstill.

But Baal had finally had enough. A heavy, oppressive aura erupted from the behemoth. It had clearly lost its patience after the surprisingly prolonged fight with this human who was slightly interested enough to not one shot him.

The monster then activated a terrifying talent..

[Talent: Projection Frame]

Instantly, Baal’s movements defied all logical sense of reality.

The monster began moving at exactly six frames per second. To the onlookers outside the barrier, Baal’s massive body looked like it was violently skipping through space.

The jarring, choppy movement actively messed with the perception of anyone watching, making them feel nauseous and incredibly slow.

Kevin’s eyes widened in shock. His high stats of 36 combat score and combat experience were completely useless against this distorted speed. Before he could even swing his Star Sword to defend himself, the behemoth glitched directly in front of him.

"You put up a good fight, little human," Baal let out a dark, booming chuckle. "But it ends here."

The behemoth gripped its heavy sword with both hands and brought it crashing forward with immense, terrifying force.

As his words fell, Kevin’s expression turned as a terrifying force rushed towards him. Then, he was ejected out.

Gasps rang out among the crowd.

"Kevin lost?" Lena gasped, her face turning completely pale as panic set in. "How is this possible? He was fighting it so evenly!"

"Is there no one else?" Baal taunted, letting the Projection Frame skill deactivate as it looked directly at the remaining Special Class students.

"I’m not even gonna try." Sylvia said with a bright smile on her face.

She knew she was going to get beat up, so why even try?

She didn’t want to get her clothes dirty.

She didn’t enter the domain today.

Hence, her combat score was just two scores above her initial 32.

It was at 34 after levelling up in dungeons.

"Are you really not going in Sylvia?" Lara gritted her teeth.

Sylvia shrugged.

Hearing this, Lena looked between Kevin and Sylvia before rushing towards Kevin with concern written on her face.

Just as the crowd began to fall into genuine despair over her rapid defeat, a glaring red system notification violently flickered across everyone’s vision.

[System Warning: The time limit for the World Quest is coming to an end.]

[Time Remaining: 3 Minutes.]

[Warning: Failure to defeat the designated being will result in the world taking one cumulative penalty.]

The players immediately began to rapidly discuss the situation among themselves, a heavy sense of dread settling over the Golden Eagle City.

"Three minutes? It is over. We cannot beat that thing," a player muttered, gripping his weapon tightly.

"What is going to happen to our world if we lose this battle?" Many other voiced their concerns.

The stream ran by Chloe was very active too.

[RichGuy: 1,000 Origin Credit if anyone wins.]

[DoomScroller88: 1,000 Credits? Bro, keep it for your funeral. No one is cashing that in. If we lose this world quest, I’m sure that our world is ending!!]

[Slayer_V: Is the newer generation of players that weak?]

[TankEnthusiast: Buddy what do you mean? Do you even know how much combat score they have? Do you see how that dude was moving? That is not how a normal low-levelled monster should be moving and two players actually managed to match it. Mind you, it has only been two days since the servers opened.]

Everyone was stunned by that realization!

It’s only been two days since the new servers opened. To think they would become this strong in a short amount of time!

Just as people were speaking amongst themselves, the timer continued ticking down. With each passing second, a heavy sense of unease settled over the crowd. They were absolutely certain that if they lost here, something terrible would happen to their world.

Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap!

Just then, the crisp sound of footsteps echoed through the silent street.

But what truly caught their attention was not the sound of someone walking. Rather, it was the terrifying, oppressive aura that washed over them.

Everyone turned toward the source all at once.

A man with his hands in his pockets, long white hair, and a rat mask walked forward slowly.

The very next moment, chaotic golden light outlined in pitch black erupted around him. The entire area immediately became dyed in a golden-black hue.

Seeing this, the behemoth also turned toward the newcomer.

"You have an interesting talent," the man said in a completely casual tone.

Tap! Tap!

As he spoke, he slowly walked past the invisible barrier and stepped directly into the arena.

"Projection Frame, is what it is called, right?" the man asked. His pitch-black eyes swiftly transformed, shifting into glowing, red draconic slits.

[Monster: Baal - Level 5]

[HP: 200/200]

[Combat Score: 38.0]

[Talent: Projection Frame]

[Origin: Middle Expanse]

[Status: Player]

The trapped crowd immediately went wild seeing this sudden appearance. His entrance was without a doubt incredibly flashy.

"Who is he?!"

"Why is he hiding his face?"

"Who knows, maybe he is a wanted criminal or something?"

"That guy looks like a kid. What the hell do you mean wanted criminal?" another player baffled by the wild guess shot back.

[RichGuy: 2,000 Origin Credits to the streamer if he wins.]

[DoomScroller01: The rich guy has spoken. Fine, I will also pool 50 Origin Credits if he wins. Streamer, you deserve this for streaming a World Quest live.]

Right now, the vast majority of the Solaris Kingdom was actively watching this broadcast scene.

And so were the higher-ranking veteran players. They were all looking at their screens with grim expressions. They knew perfectly well that if nobody won here in the coming three minutes, a severe global penalty would be applied. There were other World Quests happening simultaneously across the planet, but the fact that these players were still trapped meant that absolutely no one else had cleared it yet. The strict condition was that at least one single server had to clear the World Quest to save everyone!

Julian, Kevin, Lena and all others stared at the masked figure with deep confusion and seriousness written all over their faces.

At the same time, the behemoth was cautiously eyeing Caelus, observing him very carefully.
