Chapter 789 - Essence of Emptiness

Whoever was the person Talia was talking about, she appeared to be confident of their strength, hence her desire to summon them.

But the chaos and carnage around her made it impossible for Talia to actualize her intentions, leaving her with no choice but to just rely on herself.

"Most of the Companions are under Traveler Alex's corruption, so it will only be us Travelers who has a fighting chance against him. Which is not good, but at least we still have something to use here."f𝚛e𝗲𝔀e𝚋𝑛o𝘃𝒆𝗹.c𝗼𝒎

"Let us just hope that it will be enough to make me survive."𝙛𝙧𝙚𝒆𝘸𝚎𝙗𝒏oν𝙚𝘭.𝐜𝒐m

"…."

As if she was accepting her fate, Talia begun to shut off all her senses. She also decided to stop analyzing her dangerous surroundings, leaving her in a state of sensory deprivation.

"…"

Such state is enough to make one uncomfortable, especially in a situation as dangerous right now, but Talia was already beyond these worries.

She already knew what to do after all, and her current status was to her own benefit too.

"…."

"…"

"…"

Without the interruption by the monstrous hands, and with the empty state that she was in, Talia was finally able to summon the power that she had been calling on since earlier.

Which is of good timing, as a nearby tentacle has begun to make its way towards her, with the obvious intention of corrupting her mind.

****************

[[All are nothing but mundane in front of the Void]]

[[Nothing is real, and only the Void is the Truth.]]

[[With that in hand, I summon thee with all my heart.]]

[[Come, Void Compendium, and let me show the Essence of Emptiness!]]

"Shua…."

After she successfully finished her chant, a grey, leather-bound book materialized in front of Talia.

This book has no other colors applied on it, and the only other remarkable thing about it was its clean appearance and orderly pages. No smidge of dirt was present, leaving only a pristine glow.

The book's spine was as straight as a ruler, while its cover appeared to be made of a material as glossy as the night sky.

"…."

These appearances made the book look special, but aside from this, there was nothing else interesting about it. This grey book did not even emit any dangerous fluctuations at all, making it seem like it was just a normal item.

But this book was anything but normal at all, as showcased by the abilities that it suddenly showed.

~Hum~

Without any warning, the grey book unleashed an attack towards the tentacle, an attack which was both unseen and undetectable.

No observers nearby could see this attack, nor could they feel its existence. Not even the other Travelers noticed it, and even Alina who has the power to perceive space was left clueless.

This attack was only detected after it hit its target, leaving an effect that made everyone stop in their tracks.

[VOID]

The tentacle just disappeared once it was hit, leaving an empty space on its previous position. Any hints of its existence were all eradicated, making it appear as if the tentacle did not even exist in the first place.

***************

What Talia did was not an isolated case.

All around the monstrous tentacled creature(who is no other than Alex), attacks of the same magnitude were being dished out by the other Travelers.

These attacks were powerful enough to damage anything below the Transcendent Stage, and it showed on the damage they incurred on the tentacles.

Just a few kilometers behind Talia, the enigmatic Traveler Overron was using a gigantic, golden lion to maul the tentacles, leaving nothing but devastation on its wake.

"Schwa schwa schwa!"

None of the tentacles could even manage to gouge the golden figure, making it seem as if Traveler Overron was having an upper hand in the fight.

"Schwa schwa schwa!"

Talia finds herself sharing the same opinion, but of course she was only referring to the tentacles alone.

"Traveler Overron's Fairy Magic surely lives up to its hype. He can use it to perfectly harness the Natural Energy of the Universe, allowing him to create powerful constructs from nothing." Talia idly noted while her summoned book continued to destroy the other tentacles. "Such power is enough to give me difficult time, and I am also not sure if I can win against him…"

Talia rarely finds herself impressed by her enemies, yet she could not help but be mesmerized by the show that Traveler Overron was displaying to everyone.

It was just… so beautiful and deadly, like an opera made by a genius playwright.

"If my sister Delia fights Overron, she will surely be victorious. That is good for me later, but for now, I need Overron to be always winning."

Assured that Overron has her back secured from the enemies, Talia focused her attention to her left, where she observed the next Traveler that piqued her attention.

[Immortal Art: Five Paths of the Elemental Sage!]

Around an extremely beautiful woman, 5 humanoid figures made up of Fire, Water, Wind, Wood, and Thunder elements loomed like giants. Each figure emanated their own fearsome aura, with their mere presence alone powerful enough to even be felt by the distant Talia.

"Rumble…."

At first look, these 5 figures appeared to be immobile. But closer inspection will show that they do not need to move at all.

"Hoho… so this is one of Traveler Shi Xingyun's Immortal Arts. I am not exactly versed with Immortal Cultivation, but even I can see that she had been using the five basic elements to create a powerful defensive spell formation."

With her sharp eyes, Talia could see that the figures were not meant to be offensive pawns.

They were instead positioned around Shi Xingyun, in such a way that a powerful elemental barrier will protect her from any kinds of misfortune.

In this case, the said misfortune was the corruption brought forth by Alex, which was still trying to find a way to pass through the cultivator's shield.

"…."

The sight of Shi Xingyun seemingly having a relaxing moment while under Alex's siege was something that Talia could never forget, and it even raised the former's threat level.

"As an Immortal Cultivator, Shi Xingyun will obviously have the most knowledge on spells that can protect her from evil influences. I already expected that, yet I am still surprised by how adept she is."

"This woman did not even use any complicated abilities this time. She just used the most basic elements for her protection! Such trust on her abilities makes this woman a real threat to me…"
