Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 132: Let’s Go Hunting (3)
The mutant beasts invaded by the fungal mycelium obediently lay down on the ground to sleep, and a few unlucky ones were turned into a self-service meal by bigger creatures passing by; however, after enjoying their feast, the larger beasts too subsequently collapsed.
In Ye Nai’s view, to eat was to eat—it was all about the food chain. But after eating, it was their turn to pay with their own lives, because she was at the top of the food chain.
She made it a priority to arrive at a scene like this one, first collecting the prey and the leftover remains into her Space, then taking out a shovel to scrape up the patches of ground smeared with blood and bits of flesh and bone, and storing it as well.
Next, she took out an excavator, and following the area she had shoveled, she dug a trap pit straight down. She tied a safety rope around the teeth of the excavator’s bucket, descended into the pit along the rope, and tossed down some bait and anesthetics to create a semblance of having been eaten at, and then messed things up a bit by kicking it around.
She took out the bloody soil she had collected and sprinkled it on top, to mix the bait with the soil. Finally, she took out the prey and its leftover remains.
It looked quite convincing.
Ye Nai climbed back to the surface along the rope, patted the dirt off her body, planted a glow stick, and rode away on her motorcycle.
Along the way, she successfully picked up quite a few live preys, mainly rabbits, as finding rabbit burrows was exceedingly easy for the fungus.
Ye Nai couldn’t be bothered to dig trap pits for rabbits—shooting them dead was enough.
While passing by, she also dug up many mutant plants that were sprouting and growing branches, taking the soil along with them, and placed them in paper flower pots to see if they might grow into something when brought home.
When she followed the fungus’ lead to a fox den, where she found a pair of foxes and three cubs no more than a week old, she quickly pulled out a wire cage. She stuffed the adult foxes into it first, then wrapped the cubs in one of her own spare new towels to keep them warm and gently placed them in the cage next to the adult foxes.
While she was busy, about fifteen or sixteen meters away from her, an off-road vehicle speeding from a distance lost control and headed straight towards Ye Nai.
Ye Nai quickly stowed the cage in her Space and skillfully dodged the danger.
The vehicle kept going until it stopped on top of the fox den, halted by the small mound, and the entrance collapsed as well.
Ye Nai stood to the left rear of the vehicle and tossed a superpower spore through the open window.
Seconds later, the fungus feedback indicated that the three men inside had suffered severe injuries from the collision, and their conditions were critical.
Ye Nai never intended to bother with them, but the Fungal Mycelium in the soil suddenly released a massive amount of spores that, before her eyes, gathered into a stream that settled on the lap of the passenger in the back seat on the left side.
It seemed as if it was hinting that there was something in his pocket.
Ye Nai picked up a twig from the ground and poked at the man’s clothing, feeling something hard inside his inner pocket.
That was when she finally opened the car door and reached inside to feel around.
She pulled out a small velvet bag.
Upon grabbing the bag, Ye Nai immediately felt familiar Heart Core energy emitting from within; it seemed to be a small, man-made object.
She hurriedly opened the bag and poured its contents into her palm—it was an ancient-looking metal brooch with an oval outline, and embedded in the center was a transparent Heart Core the size of a broad bean.
The Heart Cores she had collected through hunting with the fungus had never been this large, so she immediately admired it, playing with it in her hand for a moment.

Turning it over, she saw some indecipherable foreign characters engraved on the back.
Ye Nai suddenly realized why the brooch didn’t seem like a domestic product.
But after looking at it again, she found the foreign characters peculiar, as they didn’t resemble any of the major foreign languages she’d learned about in her World History classes.
While she was engrossed in thought, the man inside the car suddenly moved, opened his eyes, and slowly woke up, while his two companions remained motionless.
"Save, save me…"
Ye Nai snapped back to reality, her mind racing as she injected a few spores into the man, temporarily preserving the little life force he had left.
"Hey, what’s this brooch for?"
Ye Nai held the brooch close to his face so he could see it clearly.
The man’s eyes widened slightly, and his fingers twitched, trying to take back the object.
"This is mine, my family’s…"
"It’s mine now. Tell me, which country’s antique is this brooch from?"
"This is mine…" The man seemed not to have understood Ye Nai’s question, as he kept repeating that the brooch was his.
"Forget it, I’ll ask your subordinates."
Ye Nai ignored him, returned to the driver’s seat, and used spores to awaken the unconscious driver.
"Hey, do you recognize this?"
"Huh? It belongs to my boss..."
"This thing is pretty nice-looking. Which country’s antique is it?"
"Otherworld, loot..."
"Otherworldly loot?" Ye Nai’s face changed, and then he asked the driver, "Where are you guys from? Who’s your boss?"
"We’re from Guangtong City. Boss’s surname is Shan."
"What kind of business does he run?"
The driver was taken aback, "You don’t know Boss Shan?"
"Who is he? Should I have heard his name? Is he more formidable than our leaders?"
Ye Nai manipulated the fungus within the driver’s body to stabilize his injuries and then clamped down on his breathing, releasing control after ten seconds.
The already critically injured driver was so distressed by this ordeal that he almost passed away.
"Cough cough..."
"Speak clearly, what kind of business does this Boss Shan do?"
"He deals in resources," the driver said more smoothly after being jostled.
"What kind of resources?"
"Resources from the Secret Realm. The previous boss made his fortune through this."
"So, the current Boss Shan is a rich second-generation, and the one in the back seat is the rich third-generation?"
"Right..."
"Where can one buy such loot?"
"There are private auctions you must be introduced to enter. You can’t find these items on the open market."
"Where does this stuff originally come from?"
"From enemies in the Otherworld, all the loot is stripped from the bodies of enemies."
"So, an item of loot like this doesn’t come cheap, huh?"
"Heh, the threshold’s quite high. Without leading by someone inside the circle, outsiders wouldn’t even be able to find the door."
"Okay, now it’s my loot."
"That’s mine, mine..."
The rich third-generation struggled to reach out, trying to retrieve his belonging.
Ye Nai, holding the brooch, returned to his car door and deliberately shook it, then released a large number of spores to gather on the Heart Core.
The spores rapidly absorbed the energy from the Heart Core. To the eyes of the rich third-generation, it was a terrifying sight seeing this valuable pure Heart Core visibly shrink in size.
"Stop looking, you’re about to die. Instead of letting others pick up such an expensive item, it might as well benefit me. In exchange, I will take care of your bodies. You won’t be left exposed in the wilderness. I’ll make sure you serve your purpose as carbon-based organisms."
"Gah...?"
The rich third-generation only managed to let out a noise before Ye Nai withdrew the spores from all three of them.
The young master’s companion had already passed away silently during their conversation. The spores couldn’t sustain him for even a few minutes, and without the support of the spores, the driver and the rich third-generation couldn’t last three minutes either. They soon followed, one after the other, in death.
