Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 272: Coy Cardan
His dangling palm dropped somewhere in the wildernesses and Marcus screamed harder, ’’Aleister, that beast!’’ he screamed like a madman, ’’I would kill him. I would kill him.’’
The man who was holding his arm tightened his grip so much that the sound of a bone-crushing could be heard in the next instant.
Marcus wailed in pain. His eyes turned red and a monstrous look appeared on his face.
It was all because of Luciana. All because of her.
She kept it hidden from him.
’’She hid it from me...’’ she hid it that she saw Aleister in the heavens. She hid everything and when he told her to deal with him, she looked at him like he was being paranoid, like he was doing something wrong, ’’That bitch... If not for her, if not for her... I would not be reduced to this. Ahhhh! That bitch... I knew she took after her whore mother. Luciana!! I would kill you. Bitch. Ahhhhh....’’
Another scream ripped from his throat when his right arm was twisted mercilessly till the sound of bone cracking ripped through the empty forests.
His face turned pale as he struggled like an animal but before he could protest again, he was shoved into the portal.
Cardan’s subordinates quietly glanced at each other before one of them could not keep his stoic expression.
’’He would not even know what caused his brought his doom.’’
To think that not only did he hurt His Highness’ woman, he even had the audacity to badmouth His Highness’ elder brother.
Their expressions turned grave. All of them had similar thoughts. If His Highness Prince Cardan was here, then instead of his hand, Marcus’ soul would have been shattered by now.
They looked at each other before stepping inside the portal.
...
Luciana was astounded when her attention shifted from the guard who was leading them to the castle under the influence of Cardan’s hypnosis to the Daven castle.
She glanced at the castle quietly. The once glorious Daven Castle now looked like a place of ruins.
Every person whom they encountered on the way turned dazed once they looked into Cardan’s eyes.
Hence, under his control, they did not stop them.
Cardan clung to her as he looked at her with an expression similar to that of a dog, asking for praise. His eyes particularly seemed to be shining as he looked at her with a ’Am I not useful? Don’t you feel happy that you brought me with you?’
Luciana was speechless.
She had spent a long time being wary of this man. She was always on her toes, not knowing when he would end up killing her.
This side of him... rather refreshed her worldviews.
She hummed, ’’You are good,’’ the corner of her lips twitched when Cardan pursed his lips shyly and refused to look at her after that.
The tips of his ears had turned red. Was he... being coy?
Luciana was mesmerized by the sight and she was so awestruck by this shy beauty that she froze for a few moments.
’’I will assign you a room in the east chambers,’’ the guard’s words brought her out of her reverie, ’’The whole east chambers used to have all empty rooms except for one. The late Prince and his fiancee used to live in that one occupied room. It is the most beautiful part of the castle, even more, beautiful than the King’s chamber. But since you are the Duke’s guests, I will take you there.’’
Luciana frowned, ’’Two rooms,’’ she told the man.
The guard froze, ’’Lady?"
’’Give us two rooms,’’ Luciana repeated without returning a certain someone’s heated gaze.
The guard seemed to hesitate.
With a soft sigh, Cardan said, ’’Two rooms.’’
The guard nodded and repeated his words.
Luciana glanced at Cardan in surprise when he was not looking. She expected him to pull tricks to occupy the same room as her. Who knew he could be a gentleman?
As they walked further down the hallway, Luciana could not help but glance at the spider webs that occupied the corner of the strong pillars.
The bustling Castle which sparkled under the sky of stars was now drowned in darkness. It looked like a haunted place.
’’Don’t be sad,’’ Cardan seemed to feel her conflicting emotions.
"I am not sad. This place or the people here have nothing to do with me,’’ she said calmly.
’’Yes yes, I know. The great Luciana Norwell does not care about these plebs,’’ Even though he said that, he placed a comforting hand on her back.
Luciana did not back away from his touch. Despite how convincingly she told him that she did not care, he seemed to have known that she cared. Since when did he know her so well?
Amidst their whispers, the guard led them to the two rooms consecutive to the room where Aleister and Esme used to live.
’’I will make the arrangements for the feast,’’ the man bowed, ’’And I will send the servants to aid you.’’
’’There is no need,’’ Luciana said, ’’You can leave.’’
The man did not stand there further as he turned around and left.
’’What are you thinking about?" Cardan asked when he saw her standing there in a trance.
’’I thought you and Aleister did not get along well,’’ Luciana glanced at him right in the eyes this time, ’’You even went as far as disguising yourself here just to kill—’’
’’Brother-in-law,’’ Cardan calmly said as he played with her golden locks that spiraled past her shoulders.
’’Mm?" Luciana was dumbfounded.
’’Address him as brother-in-law,’’ a trace of darkness lingered beneath his calm eyes.
Luciana: "_"
Surprisingly, both Esme and Cardan focused on the wrong thing when she spoke.
"I am not Esme’s sister,’’ Luciana quirked a brow as she pushed his buttons unabashedly.
’’You are my wife,’’ Cardan said as a matter of fact as he raised the lock of her hair and kissed it.
"Cough...’’ Luciana choked on the air.
When Esme said this to her, Luciana told the woman that she was not married to Cardan so Aleister was not her brother-in-law.
Esme had then calmly retorted with ’then from now on, you are my sister’.
