Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 301: Make a wish
When Luciana finished speaking, Cardan was still silent as he thought about it.
This Zephyr was a frigid man. If the tale was something to go by, then he killed his companion of years because she wished for it yet he refused to love her.
Somehow, it reminded him of his father. His father could break the heavenly rules to make a mortal reincarnate just because he loved her. And even when she has been dead for years, he would rather remain inside her old chamber than look at some other woman.
No wonder Zephyr and Atlas were said to be great friends. They were rather similar in certain aspects.
’’What are you thinking?"
He looked at Luciana, ’’I was wondering why he could not pretend to love her if he cared for her. It might have helped in resolving their troubles.’’
’’I am not certain what it is like to love but I admire God Zephyr for being resolute. I used to believe this tale is just a myth but if it is true, then they made their own decisions. He created her but he had no responsibility to keep her alive. It was the life she was meant to live. She loved him but she had no authority over his love. He was not bound to love her back just because she loved him. They made their own choices and stuck to them. It is rather admirable,’’ she shrugged a shoulder, looking rather embarrassed as she spoke, ’’We don’t even know whether these are true events. So, it is a waste of time to ponder over what they could or could not have done.’’
"I think I understand it," He smiled when he heard her words, ’’It is just similar to the way I cannot avert my affection to someone else despite whatever circumstances I face.’’
Love cannot be forced after all.
She flushed, ’’You...’’ Why did he have to make everything about them?
’’I did not say anything about my affections for you,’’ he raised a brow helplessly.
She buried her face in his chest, feeling rather bashful and awkward. Luciana had experienced many things in her life but such intense pursuit from a man was her first-time experience. People never dared to approach her or say such audacious things to her out of fear.
Cardan held her in her arms, a hint of regret resided in his eyes. He thought he was not the kind of person who dwelled on the past.
But for a moment, he regretted what he did to his father. Because Atlas spent his time in Adeline’s old bedchamber, Cardan destroyed it without a second thought just to spite him so that he could punish him and send him to the mortal realm for punishment so that he could achieve his motives.
Suddenly, he was reminded about Luciana’s father who threatened her with her mother’s belongings. He threatened to destroy them all if she did not obey him.
What was the difference between Marcus Norwell and him?
Cardan closed his eyes. Was his father hurt by his actions too?
Luciana felt that he was distracted but after thinking a bit, she realized that such tales must have reminded him about the circumstances in the dark castle. The relationship between his mother and God Atlas was not peaceful so it must have impacted him in some way as he grew up.
Luciana cleared her throat, ’’There is something else too.’’
He opened his eyes and glanced at her.
Cardan noticed how exaggerated her expressions were at the moment, unlike her usually cold face. Hmm, was Lucy trying to lighten his mood?
He held her tighter, his eyes brightening immediately.
Luciana was relieved when she saw his expression. Changing the topic worked after all.
"It is said that this place was blessed by the God after the Queen passed away. If one makes a wish with a true heart, it would be fulfilled in one life or another regardless of what they wish for."
Cardan was amused, ’’Is that real?"
Luciana shrugged indifferently. She just mentioned this to lighten his mood but... ’’I don’t believe in it. It sounds so reckless. Think of it. There are so many people who are aware of the legend of the firefly forest. If everyone made a wish here, do you think all their wishes would be fulfilled? While certain parts of this story coincide with reality, not everything can be believed. An old and nasty-looking storyteller used to tell these stories in the sea night market and I don’t know if his words are worth anything...’’
...
Back in the Crystal Castle, Elder Hall, the King’s heavenly subordinate and right-hand man sneezed a few times. He rubbed his nose and looked around the place suspiciously. Who was badmouthing him?
As the King’s subordinate, he had remained a stoic elder and not many people dared to curse him inside the Crystal Castle. But he had picked up the King’s mischievous traits after coming to the mortal world. He often disguised himself and went out to roam here and there where he might or might not have offended someone. Which mortal was badmouthing him? Hmph!
...
When Cardan heard Luciana’s demeaning words towards the old tale, he held her tighter, ’’Shh, don’t say things like that.’’
’’What?" she glanced at him, ’’Don’t tell me that you believe it?"
He shrugged, ’’Even if there is a tiny possibility that it is real, I would want to grasp it,’’ he looked at her, ’’Now close your eyes like a good girl and make a wish.’’
’’I don’t want to,’’ she frowned. What was she, a child?
’’I will make one too,’’ When she looked unconvinced, he clutched his chest and winced.
Luciana panicked for a split second before she realized that he was trying to trick her.
She sighed helplessly and closed her eyes, thinking of what to wish for.
’’Coming to think of it, I can give you anything you ask for,’’ Cardan nodded to himself as he spoke, ’’But it doesn’t hurt to make a wish.’’
Luciana thought about it for a few moments, ’’I want your eyes...’’ her eyes snapped open as she glanced at him.
Cardan was startled and he covered his eyes, ’’How can you be so ruthless, Lucy? How can you think about digging my eyes out?"
Luciana shook her head hurriedly. She was about to explain that she meant it differently when he continued speaking.
’’If you dig my eyes out, I won’t be able to see your sultry expressions as I bury myself inside you,’’ his mouth uttered those dirty words right next to her ear in a hoarse voice.
But somehow, her body reacted strangely to it. She felt herself turning unusually hot.
She did not dare to squirm much as she cleared her throat, ’’I mean... Your eyes are beautiful,’’ she looked at him, ’’If there is a next life, I would love to have them.’’
They resembled the shade of the deepest pit of the sea.
He chuckled. Lucy, Lucy... Just how amusing was she? This woman was adorably adorable.
’’What about your wish?" she peeked at him.
Although she did not believe in such things, but since he made her do such a childish thing, he needed to comply with it too.
’’Since you talked about the next life...’’ he looked into her eyes with a thoughtful expression as he spoke, ’’In the next life, I want you to be determined to marry me the moment you set your eyes on me. I want you to do anything and everything to marry me,’’ Since she was determined to not name their relationship now, that was an insecurity he had deep in his heart that she would not be moved by him regardless of anything.
